I have correctly entered my network info and the wep code but when trying to connect to the network it keeps saying unsuccessful. I have the Westell A-90 router/modem from Verizon. It's about 10 feet away from where I am trying to connect.

I downloaded wireless tether, the newest version and the two previous versions. I install the apk using the fascinates file manager. The program appears to run fine on the phone, and says 0.4kb download and .1kb upload. I've used two different laptops, one with windows 7, and one with XP to try to connect to the phone. I can find Android Tether as an available network for both computers. However, when I click to connect, both computers cannot connect. When I perform a diagnostic test, windows reports there is a problem with the access point, but cannot fix it.

The problem is that the "USB Debugging" mode must be on for PDANet to work and Windows XP and Windows 7 cannot load the proper USB driver to connect with the phone. If I turn off "USB Debugging" and the phone is set for "USB Storage" then I have no problem connecting to the phone. What must I do to get my computers to recognize my phone so I can use PDANet?

I have the samsung drivers on there that I used to root. Could that be it? I have windows 7 I have turned on and off debugging, didnt work. 1) i downloaded/installed the drivers
2) i unpackaged the rootkit onto the sdcard
3) i executed start_root.bat
4) the script(s) ran and the phone rebooted.
now, when i connect the phone to the computer (any computer) via usb, it isn't recognized. this is the main problem. i also downloaded rom manager, and it says i do not have root.
when i run start_root from the tutorial now:

nothing is being recognized...
No connectivity at all on my Captivate. Wifi networks can't be saved, and the 3G symbol is up there, but there's nothing being transmitted or received. Should I do a factory reset? The phone part works, as does messaging, but nothing else.

When I hit send, I see the 3g icon pop up but it never turns colors like data is actually being transfered then it goes away. When I look at the message details, it says status pending and it never sends. If I turn off wifi, it sends fine.

He received it today.He had an Evo before the epic and never had this issue. the issue he's having is, obviously he doesn't pick up sprint service out in iraq, but with his evo he was able to pick up wifi and connect to google talk, qik, etc.his epic is allowing him to connect to a wifi signal, but it won't allow him to connect to google talk, qik, etc. it keeps saying "can't connect to server". like i said, he never had this issue with the evo.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy SGS (well its actually my wife's but I use it also) will not connect to WiFi networks, other than the one we have at home. If we are out, the phone will be able to see lots of WiFi networks, but it cannot connect to any of them as it says the signal is poor. Other people can be sat right next to other with other phones and have no problem connecting and they have strong signals. At home it will connect, but even then there is only one bar of signal, even though the router is in the same room. It appears that the phone just cannot get a strong enough signal to connect.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI haven't been able to get my phone to connect to wifi - any wifi, not just my home wifi - since the middle of August. I don't have any sort of data plan, just the basic texting-and-minutes dealio. This is what happens at the Wifi Settings screen:
- It says it's scanning
- It tries to auto-connect to my home wifi
- It says 'authenticating with (my home wifi)'
- After a few seconds it says 'disconnected'
- My home wifi in the Wifi Networks section of the screen is listed as 'disabled'.
- The process starts all over again.
As I said this has been like this since August, but it was never a problem before. I really don't want to buy a new phone. I need to get this sorted out in less than five days, so hit me with everything you got, even if it's not likely.
Info that might be useful (I don't know phones very well):
- Android version is 2.2.2
- Baseband version is I5510UGKC5
- Build number is FROYO.UGKC5
- My wifi is Motorola with Eastlink
Also I've had a problem with the app store for months...relevant? And: I used to have data but I switched my plan...never heard of a plan that didn't include WIFI though, good grief. And: my 'battery use' panel says Wifi only accounts for 3%...I seem to remember this should be way higher, if it were connected at all.
I've had my Samsumg S4 mini for four months now and everything was perfectly fine.I've been able to connect to the WI-FI at home but now it just keeps saying 'authentication error'.I restarted my phone several times, 'forgotten' the WI-FI and re-entered the password but it still does not connect to the WI-FI.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have installed a BT widget and a WiFi widget from the market that are each 1x1 so I could save some real estate on my homescreen in not having to use stock the power control widget that's 1x4. I do notice that on a reboot the 2 widgets appear as three dots for a few seconds before finally loading last, after all the thumbnails do on the home s screen.
My Q is, are the widgets something that are always running and using resources, albeit not a lot perhaps. How else do they compare to just using the slide down controls for BT and WiFi. They are redundant but faster than sliding and then tapping. Also these widgets change color, green for active, red for inactive, etc.
I just got a BOGO with my wife for the Facinate. I switch from a fully rooted/ROMed Incredible. On both our phones, the Market loads and searches VERY slow on WiFi and 3G. My Incrediable loads/searches almost instantly while the Fasinate takes...3, 4, 5,..., 10secs at times. Downloads are slow too.

It recognizes the network but I can't use send/receive any data. My two laptops have no problem connecting to my network but I can't get my phone to. Additionally, my Wii has the same problem. It recognizes the network but can't do anything. Its probably a router problem but their support was useless, so I thought I would try here.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Samsung GS3 won't connect to my Uni's wifi. It connects to every other wifi, except my Uni's. This is a problem because I'm on low Mobile Data allowance, and that's because I didn't know my phone wouldn't be able to connect to my Uni's wifi...
And it's something wrong with mine (which is specifically a 4g/lte), since my friend has a Samsung GS3, and that connects fine.
Anyways, I think it has something to do with the 802.1x EAP wifi's... when I try to connect, it just keeps saying connecting and sometimes ends up "Authorization error".

since i have got my my metro phone i have had issues connecting to my homes wifi and i havent been able to get it to work it came with an app metropcs easy wifi wich seemed to be the problem so i froze it and i still have problems connecting and staying connected to my wifi

I assume, that's the case with Vibrant too. Does any one know, is that's true? I just got my i7500 in today and I've been trying to get it hooked up on my wireless router, a Draytek Vigor 2910. I've tried WEP and WPA/PSK, both won't work. The WEP is trying and says "obtaining IP address from ..." for a while, but then it goes dead saying unsuccessful. In my router I can see the phone connecting in the active list (the mac address shows while trying to connect), but than it disappears again. The Draytek uses a 13 position WEP key. Setting the phone to automatic doesn't work, nor does specifying WEP. I also tried to use WPA. The Draytek is now set to WEP or WPA/PSK (Mixed WPA + WPA2) with a 8 position WPA PSK. My i7500 shows the connection as WPA2, but it won't even try to connect. According to some FAQ I also need the setting TKIP, but I can not choose that on the i7500. Did any of you have the same problem, or even better.
