I created a wireless adhoc network in my laptop and tried to discover the wireless network from my galaxys, but its not able to detect the connection. But when i try the same with a wireless router/modem its working fine. and 1. how do i use dlna without a wireless router (just my laptop and galaxys) 2. how to use unified wifi remote.

I have just bought an Android Smart TV Box (to replace my AC Ryan media box which gave up the ghost a few days ago) and it mostly works fine - it is connected to my tv via hdmi and the box is hard wired to my router - so it is the standard connection setup. I have two usb hard drives connected to it. I obviously want to drag and drop media files from my phone (android) or my laptop (Windows7) to the connected hard drives I use ES Explorer app on my phone and Windows explorer but using either version I cannot see the Android box wirelessly - if i do a scan using es explorer it finds the laptop straight away and i can drag and drop but it just will not find the android box at all. However if i go onto the Android box and into the es explorer app and do a scan it picks up the laptop and i can drag and drop a file onto the laptop. So the wireless is sort of working as opposed to not at all. But just seems odd that i cant see it at all - i cant even ping it from the laptop.

I have the samsung drivers on there that I used to root. Could that be it? I have windows 7 I have turned on and off debugging, didnt work. View 3 Replies View RelatedMy SGS (well its actually my wife's but I use it also) will not connect to WiFi networks, other than the one we have at home. If we are out, the phone will be able to see lots of WiFi networks, but it cannot connect to any of them as it says the signal is poor. Other people can be sat right next to other with other phones and have no problem connecting and they have strong signals. At home it will connect, but even then there is only one bar of signal, even though the router is in the same room. It appears that the phone just cannot get a strong enough signal to connect.

WiFi itself is working fine, except the AP of the router i changed. Deleting all AP information and reentering all WPA2 data will change nothing. In my eyes the phone is not forgetting AP data completely when you try to delete an AP entry.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I connect my phone via USB to my laptop or my desktop using any of the USB ports, my phone blacks out, goes to an Android start graphic, briefly shows the home view then blacks out over and over. It does charge albiet slowly. I turn the phone off so it will charge fully. In addition I get an alert from Windows "USB Device Not Recognized". Works fine when not connected via USB.

Update- Well I got the PC to connect to the phone by updating the HTC sync driver but I still can't use the phone when it is plugged in to the USB. Screen goes dark and none of the buttons function and the charge light is lit.
I rooted and downloaded app can not get to connect to laptop. Do I need to turn the wifi on my SF too?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI'm running a Galaxy Note with Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich, unlocked. I got it three weeks ago, and not once have I managed to get Google Talk to log in... except when I'm using wifi. On wifi, it's totally fine. But try to use it on the data connection, and it just refuses to log in. No errors, no explanations... it just goes grey and nothing will happen. I use Google Talk constantly -- it's really making me regret giving up my old T9 Nokia, because at least that ran Google Talk properly. I'm tearing my hair out over it, and I can't find any support anywhere -- the product forums for Talk have been dead 18 months, the blogs for it even longer, there doesn't appear to be any support email address...
I don't really know what other useful information I can provide. There's no error message to describe. Every other app works perfectly fine over the data connection, including Trillian (connecting to the exact same Google Talk account) and Gmail. Never had a problem with anything else. I have tried removing that Google account from my own and re-adding it. I have tried force-stopping and disabling the Google Talk process and clearing its data (though the option to clear its cache is greyed out). Neither brings any chance. I've tried double-checking my APN settings; the only two I have are the currently-used one and the MMS one. I've called my service provider and asked if they maybe blocked any ports or anything; they haven't. I have made sure that Google Talk wasn't set to 'restrict background data' in the data manager; it wasn't.
What could cause this? What can I check?
I have a Google Nexus 4 with Android 4.2.2.I've just tried a speed test on it using the Android app (speedtest.net) and it says over wifi I'm getting about 1mps down/upload. I've also tried it on my laptop using the same wifi connection but through the browser using thier website Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test and it says im getting about 15 mps down and almost 1 upload.
when I go into Chrome and search for speedtest it goes to the play store with thier app, any way I can access thier site on my phone browser? the desktop site doesn't seem to work?
I've had a Galaxy Tab for 2 years, and used it, very successfully, as a wifi hotspot from May until July this year, when my laptop was suddenly not able to connect to the internet via the hotspot. It connected just fine to the Tab, and has no problems on my home wifi. The Tab was still able to connect to the internet normally, with no apparent problems.
I fiddled about a bit and thought perhaps it was a hardware problem, so bought a seconhand Nexus S. That has been working fine until yesterday, when the exact same thing has happened - the laptop can connect fine to the Nexus, but says there is no internet connection. The Nexus itself is connecting just fine.
I'm in the UK - my carrier is Three (Hutchinson).
I've had a Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 for just over a year. A few weeks ago, I updated to Android 4.2.2 whilst visiting my parent's house and it started continually rebooting itself. I did a factory reset (or two) before figuring out that it's entirely down to the WiFi. If I get in quick enough and don't allow it to connect, the problem stops, and it only occurs with the WiFi at my parent's house (though it always worked fine before the update). I've tried unplugging the WiFi repeater, which was a relatively new addition to the house, but it hasn't made a difference.
