I have a samsung Captivate, I am trying to root the phone, but whenever i put it in debugging the phone can't connect to my computer (windows 7 x64). I have been trying to find a driver but none of them work, am I really going to have to pay $30.00 for a one time download of a driver or is there another way!?

I just got the Captivate. (It replaces my iphone 4). I am trying to sync with Windows Media Player, but I need drivers for that. I downloaded the modem drivers, but it did not do the trick. I am using Vista x 32.

View 12 Replies View Relatedi cant connect my captivate to my computer.it was fine at first now it doesn't work.when i connect my phone to my computer i do the following:
1)select mass storage
2)scroll the top menu down and select mount USB
3)press mount
I have connected the Captivate to my Windows 7 64 Bit PC. I have downloaded the updated drivers and installed them. I have tried all the different types of connection as mass storage etc... Nothing seems to work. I can see the phone in Device Manager and in the explorer it shows three removable disks; however, when I try to open them it tells me to insert disk.
Does anyone know how to connect this to my PC?
So im looking at my messages and i get a long one. After like 100 characters or something it cuts it off and replaces it with ... And then i have to click on it to see the rest. Is there any way to take this off in the settings?
And my second question, my phone doesnt connect to my computer right. I plugged it in, it said it didnt have the right software or something, so i went and downloaded the the Vista 64 bit thing thats stickied on here. I plug it in, and the "you have the wrong software" thing was gone, but nothing else happpened. The screen says its connected and it vibrates and i hear the noise thru the computer, so what am i doing wrong. I read somewhere that you pull down the little bar at the top and hit dock or something like that. I cant do that. If i can pull it down theres no buttons to hit. Can someone walk me thru this process? FIXED
Not sure if this goes here or not, but I am having problems getting my Windows 7 machine to recognize my BH2. Is there a way to get the drives so I can install them so I can use my Mass Storage on my phone?

I couldnt get my device to show up so I used "deview" to remove the drivers so i could reinstall them. Now my computer tells me it is unable to locate them.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have had this phone since April and it has been pretty disappointing overall with the whole not upgrading to Android 2.1 and such, but that's not the issue right now. I bought a new laptop about 2 weeks ago and I want to use my phone with my laptop. I download the drivers for the phone and they could not install and everytime I connect the phone to the computer it says the device is not recognized. The phone now can't connect and I can't see the files that are on the phone. I want to be able to put music and videos on my phone and I can't now. It works perfectly fine one my desktop which is an XP, but I wont be able to use the desktop because I will be leaving for college soon.

Okay, so if you are freaking out, or can't figure out why your new Epic isn't being recognized by your computer, calm down. Some of you are probably already searching for drivers. Ya I already went through that freak out when I got my Vibrant. Okay, to mount your phone, and have your computer recognize the internal/external memory, do this:Connect your phone to your computer via USB. Give it a few seconds.Next, PULL DOWN your notification bar. Next, tap your finger on "USB CONNECTED"You then get a message asking if you would like to mount. Tap "mount" confirming you would like to do so.Enjoy, your computer should now recognize the internal/external memory.BTW, reverse this process before pulling the usb cable out. Always remove a cable safely, otherwise the data can get corrupt. Don't just yank your cable out.Edit: some of you may also find the following useful. Hopefully the Epic is similar to the Vibrant in these setting

I tried uninstalling the programs I used to flash, [including deleting the registry files] and even re-downloaded the samsung update program, ran it to the point where it installs the drivers, and it then quit, and it still will not work.

I tried setting device to 'mass storage' in USB Settings but Mac doesn't see device at all.
I'm running win xp and my captivate has the new update stock. Not rooted. I have tried many times with many different drivers. uninstall them all and tried again with no luck. In the device manager next to the S3C6410 Android ADB there is always a yellow " ! ". I loaded kies.uninstall it then install the newest one. Also installed the sdk. Still no adb driver will load. . wtf. mass storge works. Just not the adb. It's driving me nuts.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have read the previous threads, but still having no luck getting my Samsung Epic to show in My Computer. So I decided to post a new thread. After connecting the phone to my PC, I select Mount and turn on USB storage on the phone then windows shows "Found New Hardware" then asks me to install the new hardware. When I install the hardware, new device shows under "Other Devices" in Device Manager with a yellow icon (?) in front of it as if it is still unrecognized device. I am not allowed to install the drivers on my PC since it is a company PC. My coworkers did not have to install drivers to get the EPIC show in My Computer.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI use Windows 7, received my Vibrant a few weeks ago and have been having a great time, but my phone doesn't mount! It mounted the very first time but after making a potential mistake, it stopped. Here's what happened: Yesterday I installed several apps (Beautiful Widgets, WidgetLocker, just for reference), and for the first time since receiving my handheld, wanted to add some files to it via my pc. I connected my Android as usual only to find that while both the phone & sd card were recognized on my computer, both contained no records, which was obviously a glitch.
I then tried unmounting my phone, and screwed up by selecting for my phone to be a media device rather than mass storage. Windows began searching for the device drivers, was unable to find them, and gave the message: "device driver software was not successfully installed." And now, whether mounted or not, windows no longer recognizes my phone's storage. My Android however, has no problems going from mounted to unmounted. However, I have tried connecting my phone to two other computers and none recognize my device.
Do you need any drivers install extra to connect phone thru usb mass storage mode?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get my phone to connect to the computer, so I can put music on it. But when I plug it in, all it does is charge. I've already tried to change the USB settings, so that it would pull Mass Storage, and it wouldn't do anything after the fact. The computer has no notification pop up when I plug it in. I'm going nuts here! And I only have two days to do this because I have a long trip ahead and I'm trying to sync music to it.
View 16 Replies View RelatedHow to connect my phone via USB cable to my computer. I know you turn off USB debugging option under development. I connect the USB cable that came with my phone to USB on my computer and then to my phone. At the top of my phone it comes up with the notification to mount my card touch on that and them my phone comes up saying to turn off mass storage. Using Windows XP and in explorer can see the SD card showing as a drive in my list however when I click on it it shows nothing.
I can see the notice of the usb drive in the listings showing that I can turn it off, which I do before I disconnect the phone from my computer. Then I try to connect the USB again to my phone and all it does is show its charging the phone now, usually the only way to resolve is either to restart my computer or restart my phone and the problem starts all over again. I am tired of taking the card out of my phone manually to connect it to my computer to move or copy files or anything to my card which is an 8GB sandisk micro sd card.
When I try to connect my Galaxy to the computer either through Kies or by just plugging it in the computer does not recognize my device. The following message comes up on my phone regardless of which connection method I choose. "PC connection available only on idle screen. Close running applications". The only thing I have running that I know of is the "weather widget" which is part of beautiful widgets. Can I get a list of applications running on my phone somehow? Is there a way to turn the weather widget off? I am assumming that that is the problem. Anyone else out there have similar difficulties hooking up to Kiev or just your PC with the same kind of message?

When I click on that, I get a Window's error message: "Windows is unable to connect to the selected network. The network may no longer be in range. Please refers the list of available networks and try to connect again." The SPH-D70002E (Epic) is full bars strength.
