Web pages seem to load very slowly on my N1, when not using wifi. I use an orange SIM card that I got with my old nokia N82, which was a 3g phone. I always struggled with internet speeds with that phone too. I do get the "G" and the arrows below it flashing away as suggest 3g is working. Maybe I expect too much, but Jesus it can be frustrating!

Within the last week my tablet stating running very slow.
Pages take a long time to load Apps take forever to load Apps crash every other time I open them.
I thought it was my router (netgear n600) but my iPad and cell phone.
Can we load an XML file by slowly hiding the previous XML? I want a splash screen effect.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had the Droid Incredible for a month and a half now and my text messages are filling up. One girl I have 2500 messages from and the loading is pretty slow. Its pretty annoying waiting to reply and everything else on the phone is lightning fast so I was wondering if you guys have any suggestions on how to have them speed up or settings that would help. Please tell me anything that would make these messages load faster.
P.S. I understand deleting the messages will make it fast but erasing them takes way too long and its annoying. Also i need a lot of my messages.
In my android app I call the voice recognition in my onCreate method of my startup activity. I have made it a preference to start up with the voice control or not. However, the app takes about 5-7 seconds to load when voice recognition is on. When it is off, the app starts almost instantly. Below is sample code, I have added Free_Form, max_results 1, and a custom prompt to mine.Why would calling the normal android speech recognition take sooo long to load in my OnCreate method?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with the wifi... its able to connect to my router but im not able to use the internet. web pages wont load, ebuddy wont connect, fring wont connect, android market wont load. the wifi internet was working before and now its not. currently my laptop is connected via wifi and its confirmed I can browse websites and chat through aim. 3G network works fine but I want to save battery life when I'm at home.

But starting yesterday, any effort to call up a webpage, either using the browser or using the bookmarks on one of my home screens, fails. The page tries to load but then the phone just jumps back to the bookmarks home, or the home screen. Any ideas?
View 2 Replies View RelatedHowever my phone will connect to my wifi at home no problems, it automatically switches when it's in range, but after about 20-30 minutes it stops working (pages won't load etc or get an error message saying I need to be connected) and when I go into wifi in settings it says 'authenticating' instead of connected. It doesn't change back if left you have to turn it off and back on and then it works fine for 20-30 minutes and back to the same problem again. I have never had a problem with the internet connection and there is no interuption to it or anything.

It just shows the padlock and nothing else.
The default browser loads SSL pages when connected via Wi-Fi.
Opera browser load SSL pages both via the mobile network and Wi-Fi.
I tried resseting to default in the browser but it didnt help.
I find it really odd.
If I uninstall the browser, can I reinstall it from market (I didnt see it there).?

I ask this question because some cell phones with some phone network appear to use a special server to funnel cell phone requests thru and that the server offloads from the browser part of what a browser normally does. I get the impression that the Opera mobile browser works this way.I want to talk to local devices that serve web pages and connect directly to them from phones. Does the Chrome browser in Android have the full functionality that Chrome has on a PC? Can it parse HTML, do XMLHttpRequest, and otherwise act like a modern browser?

Background: ----------------- One of the applications I developed uses a native shared library (e.g. myNativeLib.so). Only my application loads & uses this native library. I had developed this app before Android NDK came out. I pack my native library into my apk's 'assets' folder, and during my application start- up, I extract this native library from my package's assets folder to my app private directory (i.e. <assets> -> /data/data/<myappprocess>/ myNativeLib.so). Then I use System.load() API in my application to dynamically load this native library.
Problem: ------------ This application was developed during Android 1.5 (i.e. cupcake) days {I didn't have the Nexus One then}. The above procedure has been working without any problems right from Android 1.5 to Android 2.2 (i.e. Froyo). I have also tested the same on my Nexus One for Android 2.1 (i.e. Eclair) and Android 2.2.
The problem began the moment I recently upgraded my Nexus One to Android 2.2.1 via the FRG83 system update. Now, whenever I try to load my native library, I get the following error:

This should've taken care of any changes in the native code dependencies between Android 2.2 & Android 2.2.1 3. I even checked Android 2.2.1 source code for dalvik (java System & Runtime classes) + bionic (linker & dlopen sources) between Android 2.2 & Android 2.2.1 (using source checked out from Android open-source), but couldn't find anything consequential 4. I am unable to return my Nexus One to Android 2.2.
I have been assigned the task to use an android tablet to run a single app in an enterprise setting. Ideally, when one switches on the tablet this app should be loaded perhaps during startup and the user need not step out of this app. The app logic itself is rather easy but I am wondering if it is at all possible to load a single app during load and not allowing the user to step out of it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI dropped my phone that created a crack (a new crack stemming from an older one which gave me no problems) which lead to me not being able to use the very bottom of my screen (really just the space bar area). The crack was slightly above said area. Then this "blue ink" smudge began forming and took over the bottom 1/4 inch of the screen. When I woke up the next morning, the only portion of the screen still visible was the middle third, as the top and bottom were now dark blue. By the end of my shift that morning, the screen was completely black. I have heard a screen replacement may be all I need, but I am worried that the digitizer (I hope I'm using the right terminology, referring to the touch screen capability of the phone) may have been damaged as again I could not use the bottom part of my screen.

In my app, I have various types of data like Person, Company, City, etc; The requirement is to dynamically load the layout, find views by tags (property names like Person.name, Person.address) and then fill in data. For example, if user has selected an object of type Company, we want to load a company.xml layout, inflate it and then associate various properties (company name, company slogan, city, address, revenue) to tagged views. One possibility I see here is - each view in the layout will be associated with property-name as tag and then appropriate data will be loaded in appropriate views.
What should be the best design you would recommend?
Today I finally upgraded to 2.2 and installed kaosfroyo. As with many other eris owners the camera app shuts out on me so I installed camera360 and I'm pretty happy with it. The only problem I have is the photo gallery and how stupid slow it is. It takes so long to load my pictures (which is pretty few) that my screen turns off after waiting. And when I go back into it, it attempts to reloads all the pictures again, just to have the screen turn off(again)! I never had this problem with 2.1 (xtrROM).
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I'm running eris 2.1 v3, and I've had a overheating problem since I've taken the leap and stopped using a task killer. Now every single time i charge my phone, it will charge extremely slowly and overheat to as high as 133 degrees. I'm assuming that the problem is apps running after i believe I've closed them (closed by menu->close, or the back button until homescreen) but i thought that the apps end up closing themselves, am i doing something wrong?

Most reviews i've seen for Snesoid that have been positive, the person had something like the Evo or incredible. Is there anything i can do to make Snesoid run well? Does getting the paid version of snesoid help? Getting another phone is not a solution.
View 4 Replies View RelatedBefore Froyo, I was able to charge my phone in my car and use the GPS. Now, with Froyo, my phone charges way too slowly. Infact, my phone actually DISCHARGES while uses the Navigation when plugged in!! I have two questions:
1. Is Froyo designed to slow charge the phone?
2. If so, it makes my GPS setup defective. How do I revert back from 2.2. to 2.1?
I'm on Droid 2.2 and whenever I slide my finger to switch screens, it takes so long for my Droid to slide to the next screen. When if finally does slide over, I see the apps/icons appearing slowly.

The touch events are stubs just like onTouchEvents(MotionEvents ev){ empty };. All of the game logic and graphics draw code are in run() in an extends Thread class.
Is it just me, or is this forum running very slowly at the moment...? I have a pretty new laptop, which isn't full of rubbish just yet, and other websites seem to be fine...
