I'm using apps to sd, and have been noticing my internal memory slowly dropping. If I remember correctly, this is due to apps storing their cache there. Any way to direct it to the sd card?

I have the Swype beta for android installed on my phone and I am only having one problem - double tapping in the word window. I know if you misspell a word you should be able to double tap it in the window after the fact and it should bring up the word choice window for you to choose. However, with Swype on my Evo, all it does it highlight the word and I cannot change the word.
My other question is about internal memory. My phone has been dropping MB of internal storage like a bad habit. I went from 400 to 320 in a matter of a few days and have not installed or saved anything outside of my sd card. Why is this happening? and what happens if that memory reaches 200 - 100 or even 0?
Moved to troubleshooting.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThere are a couple of options within the browser I didn't find until after searching for it, so I thought I would share it with the rest of the community in order to help out.
-Everyone should clear the browser cache and previous history in order to save internal phone memory. To do this go to BROWSER press the MENU button and press MORE. There should be a list of things in there but what you should be interested in is the last item which is SETTINGS. From there in privacy settings there will be options to clear both cache and history.
- Another little tip I wanted to share was viewing webpages in landscape mode without opening your keyboard. To do this simply press the MENU button from within the BROWSER and go down to FLIP ORIENTATION. You should realize tho by doing this you browser will continue to be in landscape the next time it's used. In order to return it to it's normal portrait mode just follow these steps once again.
-There are a number of other things you can mess around with or find with the MENU button within the browser so just take a look at it yourself even if you don't want to do any of these tips.
How do you free up internal phone memory? When I click on my Quick Settings app, I see that I only have 15% (23mb) of free Phone memory. Is this normal? Maybe this is why my phone is a little laggy at times? Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

But it never occurred to me to delete MMS messages. I just freed up 10 MB of internal memory by deleting MMS messages. I deleted entire threads, and in some cases, individual MMS messages (pictures and videos), because i didn't want to loose the whole thread.

My strategy is based upon two-level cache:
Memory-level and disk-level.
My class is very similar to the class used in the droidfu project
My downloaded images are put into an hashmap and the Bitmap objet is wrapped inside a SoftRererence object.
Also every image is saved permanently to the disk.
If a requested image is not found into the Hashmap<String,SoftReference<Bitmap>> it will be searched on the disk, readed, and then pushed back into the hashmap. Otherwise the image will be downloaded from the network.
Since I store the images into the phisical device momery, I have added a check for preserve the device space and stay under a 1M of occupied space:

What I'd like to add is the same check on the HashMap size to prevent it will grow too much. Something like this:

My question is:
What could be a right MAX_MEMORY_SIZE value? Also, Is it a good approach? A good answer also could be: "Don't do it! SoftReference is already enough"
I believe an app I installed put over 20 megs of space on my phone's memory (not the SD card) and when I uninstalled it, it did not remove it.
I have an un-rooted phone.
What is the best file manager to use to access the phone memory and see where the issue is, and allow me to delete it myself?
Is it ok to drop Pending Intents in android if they are never used. Such as in an AppWidgetProvider where a Pending Intent that was never used be overwritten by a new Pending Intent. Or should we call cancel on all unused Pending Intents to clean up memory appropriately?

As with many other eris owners the camera app shuts out on me so I installed camera360 and I'm pretty happy with it. The only problem I have is the photo gallery and how stupid slow it is. It takes so long to load my pictures (which is pretty few) that my screen turns off after waiting. And when I go back into it, it attempts to reloads all the pictures again, just to have the screen turn off(again)! I never had this problem with 2.1 (xtrROM).

Now every single time i charge my phone, it will charge extremely slowly and overheat to as high as 133 degrees. I'm assuming that the problem is apps running after i believe I've closed them (closed by menu->close, or the back button until homescreen) but i thought that the apps end up closing themselves, am i doing something wrong?

I can't remember ever having issues with dropped calls before, and that's what made me come back to Verizon from AT&T. However, since I'm back I'm having all kinds of trouble with dropped calls. According to app brain, I have 69 apps with a total of 140mb. Surely the move to SD built into froyo should move more than 7.25mb? Most of my apps have the feature. I know this is the poorest way of getting apps to SD but surely it should move more than that? I am going to have a go at the noob guide to moving apps to SD later to see if it improves things. So recently I have had my EVO tell me that I am running out of disk space (Internally), so is there an App or a way I can view my internal files and delete them off. I know I can use the Market to delete Apps and I can use the stock Froyo Manage Applications to remove Apps, but I feel that files I download to my phone are going to my internal memory rather then my SD memory. all the help!

Noob that's had the EVO just a couple weeks and used it to take pics mostly. Got the storage space warning so I offloaded all the pics to my laptop but phone still showing storage space warning and internal memory shows 24.00KB No apps have been installed yet, stock Sprint EVO phone. I'm getting 3 email accounts to the phone and the memory shows email is at 336 megs. Is that what is swamping the memory on this phone? I turned off the emails but the phone won't let me delete all the emails now, I get an error or email has stopped and have to force close the app.
