HTC Eris :: Photo Gallery / Loading Pictures Slowly

Today I finally upgraded to 2.2 and installed kaosfroyo. As with many other eris owners the camera app shuts out on me so I installed camera360 and I'm pretty happy with it. The only problem I have is the photo gallery and how stupid slow it is. It takes so long to load my pictures (which is pretty few) that my screen turns off after waiting. And when I go back into it, it attempts to reloads all the pictures again, just to have the screen turn off(again)! I never had this problem with 2.1 (xtrROM).

After the 2.1 OTA a lot of random photos were thrown in my photo album under separate files, I think one is named something like keyboard...and another one called icons maybe. They are just screen shots of the swype keyboard. I tried to delete them after I dl'd the Nexus Gallery (which is awesome btw thank you Androzoid) but they just came back. Has anyone else had this happen? I haven't tried to delete them yet straight from the SD card to see if that works. Is it okay to delete these or do they serve some purpose?

I just got my new Droid phone 2 days ago. Great phone! But I have many things to learn. I have a question about the saved pictures. Why is it that when I open my photo gallery there are more than just the "all photos" folder. Seems when I take a picture, or save one off the Internet or transfer the pics off my old phone,that it makes a new folder for each different set of pics and puts all the pics in the "all pictures"folder. Is there any way I can just have the "all pictures" folder as the only one?

I searched and searched and can't find a gallery replacement. I am using Aloysius 2.0.8 and the gallery isn't working due to the opengl fix that is included in the ROM. I need a gallery that will work!
I can't find anything in the market, and all the 'photo gallery' threads here are either one post wonders, or not related to what I am looking for. Does anyone use a non-stock gallery? Or does anyone know if there is a fix for the nexus gallery open gl issue?

I have had the Droid Incredible for a month and a half now and my text messages are filling up. One girl I have 2500 messages from and the loading is pretty slow. Its pretty annoying waiting to reply and everything else on the phone is lightning fast so I was wondering if you guys have any suggestions on how to have them speed up or settings that would help. Please tell me anything that would make these messages load faster.
P.S. I understand deleting the messages will make it fast but erasing them takes way too long and its annoying. Also i need a lot of my messages.

Anyone else having problems with their contacts loading slowly? I am running fresh 2.3.3. If I understand it correctly, each time you select a contact, it actually 'downloads' the data from the 'google cloud'? Is there anyway to speed this up or just load the contacts on the SD card and it can more quickly pull it from the phone?

Ok so i just rooted my eris, and got it to the eris21official-root, there are a few things that i really want and i was wondering if i have to do an add or what to make these work from here.
-Live wallpapers
-Nexus launcher
-a better looking photo gallery viewer, im stuck at the stock crap one
-a better music player same reason as above
-and last is a better lock screen, i really liked the one that had the slient button and the lock on the same dial and it was just which way you spun it

I've reviewed some posts about lazy loading but I believe my problem is a bit different.
I have a gallery (my class extends Gallery) which displays 20 rather large in size images (400-500K each). I cannot load them all to gallery since I get an OutOfMemory exception.
So, I created an array of 20 Drawables and initially populated the first 9 elements (the images come from the Web) and set all the rest to null. My intention was this: on a fling to the right, fetch element no. 10 and set to null element no. 0. On another fling to the right fetch element no. 11 and set to null element no. 1 to null. Same logic on a fling left.
The problem is I can fling much faster than the elements are fetched.
My gallery has a BaseAdapter and its getView() looks something like this:

How do I tell getView() - if imageArray[position] is still null, show a "loading..." dialog and once it is set repeat yourself with the same position? I don't want to see the imageView empty and then set on the fly. I want to not be able to see the imageView at all until it is set.

So I'm running eris 2.1 v3, and I've had a overheating problem since I've taken the leap and stopped using a task killer. Now every single time i charge my phone, it will charge extremely slowly and overheat to as high as 133 degrees. I'm assuming that the problem is apps running after i believe I've closed them (closed by menu->close, or the back button until homescreen) but i thought that the apps end up closing themselves, am i doing something wrong?

I'm using apps to sd, and have been noticing my internal memory slowly dropping. If I remember correctly, this is due to apps storing their cache there. Any way to direct it to the sd card?

Recently I have found when I open the Auto Back up file in the Gallery app, it loads all the thumbnails up to a point and then nothing. The screen shot below shows where the loading stops:
I have tried to following to resolve the issue: Reset phoneCleared Gallery app cache and resetScrolling through the images in filmstrip mode
The photos appear in the new Photos app and on G+.

After the official 2.1 update, my service has been getting slowly worse. The is a tower a half a mile down the road from me, and at random times the Eris will say I have no service. But I know it's not just the tower because I still don't get service randomly at places it's usually fine.

Is there a free app in the Android Market that will organize my photos? Seems like every time I take a photo or save it from a message, It goes into the gallery at the end of a Long line of pictures that I previously stored and I have to scroll all the way to the end to view it. Am I doing something wrong?

I've made folders and added pics to the sd card while i had it in my computer but the stock photo app won't recognize the folders but it does see the pics and puts them in both the stock folders (All Photos, Camera Shots).
Why can't the stock photo app (photos) recognize the folders I put on my sd card? I'm fairly tech. savvy but can't figure this photo app file structure for the life of me! Is there a photo/camera app that asks where and what folder I want camera pics to be saved too?

Will the Incredible have the same 3D photo stacking view in the N1? Of all the review videos I've seen it appears it does not but it might just be they chose not to show that off. I really liked that ability to show 3d stacks of photos sorted by date. Is it possible to use the stock android app for viewing photos instead of the sense photo gallery?

I want to create a photo gallery on Android. I'm using Gallery and BaseAdapter to create a scrollable gallery. Now I want to add action when an image of the gallery is shown(each image's width is the same as screen width), so I need to get its index in the image array. I am looking for the following that I haven't been able to find by searching:
-Widget with different sizes
-Widget will automatically slideshow from selected drawers at a set interval (with random as option)
-You can scroll through the photos by swiping, preferrably seamless (with launcher that allows scrollable widgets I guess) so you can scroll really quick
-Clicking a picture will bring you its source
Would this be possible (or is there such a widget already)?

I have been running the latest version of the Premium XDA app and lately pictures are not loading in most threads. Sometimes 1 or 2 pictures will load, but usually none.
Also, while on the topic of the app, what happened to the option to show the first post when viewing a thread? I have selected the option "show oldest post" but it does not work, still shows the last unread post.
