I have a nexus one and I'm looking for an app that will allow me to set my current music as notification and contact ringtones. I used to have one on my G1 a while back. I already have ringroid but don't want to have to create a new ringtone everytime i want another one.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently set a custom notification ringtone to alert me when I receive a new text message. The ringtone sits in my SD card under the folder "Notifications". Sometimes, I will get a text and my phone will vibrate and pulse light, but the notification ringtone will not be heard. When this happens, I go to Menu>Settings>Sound & display>Notification ringtone and then reselect my ringtone. What will happen on most occasions is as soon as I tap the ringtone I want to set, it will not sample the sound file and the menu will freeze and force close. What happens after this usually involves some cursing and a reboot. Why is my phone forgetting my notification ringtone selection? Why does it force close like that and how can I prevent this? If it makes any difference in your diagnosis, I am rooted.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe reason I KNOW its not me changing these ringtones in all of the assignable designations for media files to be played for the ringtones and such is that I have not a single of my music files within any of these settings as an option to assign in the first place. They are showing up randomly. This morning I awoke to Rock n Roll by Led Zeppelin, and earlier today a friend called my whose ringtone was changed to 99 Red Balloons.
Let me reitterate; I have never assingned a music track as a ringtone, alarm, or notification. The previous ringtone still exists in my library and is functional IE; i can reassign the same ringtone to a person again. I THINK that only ringtones which are NOT DEFAULT are changing. What is going on here? I have lookout AVP app loaded and running at all times.List on my runnng apps on EVO:

I do have an abundance of navigation (gps, turn by turn, ect), some news, a widget for quick settings (wifi, bluetooth, ringer on/off, gps), Music (shazam, pandora tunee music, The house FM christian radio) Astro file manager, Emulators, facebook integration.I have noticed some coming on by themselves. Ill try to note when I have done nothing to activate them.
Does anyone know of a good app for changing individual sms ringtones for different contacts, i dont want to change using the stock sms app as i find thats fine, just want someting to change the alerts for different contacts.

For some reason it wants me to create yet another ringtone from the already created one if I want to assign it to a contact again.I cant seem to find the option to just assign a ringtone to a contact.I think installing Zedge as well may have wiped my existing custom ones I did.Is there not a way in the system to assign ringtones to contacts without an app? Or a simple app to do it?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI finally did a factory reset after installing the froyo update and now have my phone set up just about how it was before. Problem is,I have 180+ Google contacts sorted into 11 different groups and I want to assign a specific ringtone for each group. I did this some time ago before the upgrade for each individual contact but I just don't want to do it again. Yeah I'm lazy but what can I say I thought restoring my contacts would have kept the ringtones synced but it did not.I haven't found an app that will do it (a free app anyway).

Now I am trying to link to them and all I get is library. Are the ringtones in the wrong location? The basic process of setting it to a contact (as listed in many places) doesnt seem to work.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI got my wife a Hero and everything works appart for this. I have copied my MP3 files into a Music folder on the SD card. I then used ringdroid to pick one of these and convert it into a ringtone and assigned it to a contact.This created the folder /media/audio/ringtones on the SD card which contained my new ringtone. I checked the contact in the People application and the ringtone is correctly assigned to them. This ringtone is also in the dropdown list so I can manually add it to other contacts in the People application.However whenever I ring the Hero from the phone associated with this contact I always get the default ringtone and not the custom one.
I have rebooted the device and this does not make a difference.I can set the new ringtone to be the default ringtone and then it plays, but for all users.I have tried everything here, including doing a factory reset for the phone, but I just cannot get this working and this is something my wife needs.
I had this problem in 2.1v2, I installed v3, and it first, all was well, then yesterday I noticed the same thing...none of my custom set ring tones are being used. phone always rings with the system default.
I can change that, and it rings that tone, but any I assign to a contact don't work.
I haven't installed any ring tone managers or anything, I can't think of what would be messing with it, but it is friggin annoying!
I'm working on a application that, while it's running, should be able collect and save information about the music played by the Phones MediaPlayer.
There are not any public API for this at the moment, do you have any plans for this in the future?
It would be nice if my application just could use the default Music player, instead of implement a new player.
So far the only solution I can find is this this link here: http://www.alexc.me/android-music-app-service-currently-playing-song/... ,but this is not a nice way to do it. It will only work with phones that use exactly same version of the interface file IMediaPlaybackService.aidl

View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I got our Nexus7 tablet over a year ago, I was happy to find that it would accept WAV files as notifications and ring tones since I had a number of custom WAV files that I wanted to use for different needs.
In addition I used SmartVoiceRecorder to generate a custom voice ringtone for my wife (who has difficulty hearing and finds it easier to hear alerts recorded with my voice) and it worked fine using the WAV files that it generates.
Over the last couple of days, her phone stopped ringing. Her settings showed that the ringtone was set to "none"
Using SmartVoiceRecorder to reset my recordings to "ringtone" didn't work either. Copying the WAV files to the ringtone directory and selecting them using ES File Explorer also didn't work.
None of the above actions triggered any warning or complaint, but the current ringtone was reset to "none" after each attempt without warning or notification.
I checked the SMS message tone and found that it had also reset to none.
Not sure if there is an android app to convert WAV to an android acceptable ringtone, but Mobile Media Converter - The Audio and Video converter you want. is a nice little PC converter that creates mobile compatible audio files... I tried AMR and OGG outputs, and both worked as Nexus ringtones.
