When i try and set one of my pictures from my gallery as a wallpaper it also makes me crop it first? Is there no fit to screen option? i even tried resizing the image to wallpaper resolution but still does same!

Just a quick question about making pictures from the gallery your wallpaper? Is there any way to get it to use the whole picture. as it stands, whenever I try to use a picture for my wallpaper, it makes me crop the picture, and no matter what I do, the crop box never lets me use the whole picture, its like there's a size limit or something.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAnnoying that when I go to select a wallpaper, the "Pictures" option pulls up every single image on my SD card (icons for apps, CD art, etc.), when all I want it to do it pull images from my "Wallpaper" folder.
Is there any way to customize what images get pulled? Can folders (like CD art) be hidden from gallery view so that they don't show up in the "Pictures" list?
Although I have many photos on my SD card when I go into gallery all I get is "There are no items in your collection" The photo are in the DCIM folder on the SD card.

I am not new to android: i have had the G1 which i did not root, the T-Mobile pulse, which i rooted and the HTC Legend and now the Nexus one.
Some questions?
With the legend i am am awhere of the Sence UI ? i liked how facebook contacts synced to my phone and when i rang i saw there display pictures, does the Nexus one do this?
SMS, is there a similar app to the legend, where you see threaded messages with a picture of there facebook dp?
I can't hear the phone when it rings, its so quiet, the volume is on max, is there anyway to increase this?

When I try to set a wallpaper from my own gallery, it only allows me to select a specific part of the picture. For example on the iphone I could resize the selection to fit the screen as much as I wanted. But the captivate sets a box and i cant make it bigger or smaller to select the entire wallpaper. and also doesn't matter how high res the picture is, it always looks blurry. Unlike the stock wallpapers, they look super sharp and clear. Anyone know what im doing wrong or how to fix it so i can choose to display an entire picture as my wallpaper rather than just a small portion?

I'm having a problem setting a picture for my wallpaper on my Evo. It says it's set but when I go to the main screen I have the regular wallpaper, not the picture I set. I tried with a couple different pictures that are on my SD card and did it from Menu>wallpaper>gallery>photos>pick the photo>save. but it doesn't save??? any suggestions, ideas?

View 5 Replies View RelatedBasically I downloaded the app ES File Explorer and I cut everything on the internal storage and pasted it in to my SD card. Everything worked perfectly except now I can't view any of my photos in the gallery, it seems as if they all just disappeared! I noticed something during the switch over from the internal to the SD card that a message about DCIM came up. Now apparently that has to do with photos and I just skipped it. I went into my SD card folder after and it only shows the pictures that have been screenshot and those that have been posted on Instagram. None of my pictures that have actually been taken with my camera are in my sd card folder neither in my internal storage.
Does this mean they have been deleted because I pressed skip during the transfer?
The phone I am using is the Motorola Razr I XT890.
I have pictures in the gallery that I think was pulled from an old blog I had on blogger. The problem is that I cannot delete these pictures. I have checked all file folders under my files. I have tried the long press method and put check marks on the pictures but the delete option disappears and all I am left with is share and about. I also connected my phone to my PC and checked all files there but these pictures seem to only show in the gallery. Seems if they are in the gallery then they have to be in a file somewhere? Sincing is turned off and the blog was deleted months ago.

View 1 Replies View RelatedUnder gallery, I've tried setting wallpaper from images stored. I'm experiencing two problems:
1) When using the green border to select the part of the image I'd like, it never stretches to the full size of the image. It maxes out at about half the size of any image.
2) Once cropped after clicking set as wallpaper, the wallpaper shows way too zoomed in and I lose at least half the image I cropped.
I'm setting the wallpaper using any one of the available methods:
- getApplicationContext().setWallpaper(bitmap) - WallpaperManager.getInstance(context).setBitmap(bitmap)
The image I'm using is 320 * 400, but when it gets set only the center section of the image is displayed, like the image is way too big for the screen. My screen is hi-res, and this should fit into it easily.
Is there a way to set a live wallpaper, similar to WallpaperManager.setBitmap() to set a static image?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was trying to make an app which also had the facility to let user select wallpaper he would like to set. I have managed this by calling the Gallery Intent. Once the user selects a specific image, the data path of the image is returned to me which then i preview to the user by setting the image onto an imageview.
The problem crops up when the image size (and/or resolution) is greater than what android expects. This results in failure of my module.
And as if this was not enough, wen the user tries to select some other wallpaper(and in my test case the "other" wallpaper was also of size >700kb) then the app crashes with the "OutOfMemoryException"...

So i have 2 problems to deal with:
How to crop the image before setting it as wallpaper...Cant understand y OutOfMemoryException is thrown, coz none of my image sizes exceed even 1mb... and i guess the VM budget in case Of N1 is 24Mb if m not mistaken...

So I moved them back to phone, and now they won't play there either. The pictures show up in gallery but wont play when selected.
