I've just got my Nexus one, (no VAT bill) and am trying to set up my exchange sync with it. I know that IT at work have made changes to allow Android phones as they did it when the Motorola droid appeared, but whenever i try to connect i get "Username or Password incorrect".They are setup correctly and i have logged into OWA on the phone just to make sure its ok.Has anyone else had this? if so how did you resolve it?

I wanted to set up my hero to get my mail from work and calender ect. We use outlook. The question I have is whats the difference between active exchange sync and just setting up outlook like you would set up yahoo, gmail ect... Sorry if this is a dumb question but I just never had to use exchange before so im very unfamiliar with it. What I have been doing is just syncing my phone via usb with my home outlook.

I am previously an iphone user and got quite a lot of use out of syncing my work (exchange) calendar onto my iphone and using it on the go to keep track of meetings and such.
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like this is native functionality in Android 2.1? I was able to set up my work email account with active sync, and that works fine... but when I look in the Accounts area of settings and select my work email, there is no option to sync Calendar.
I have read that you can use the google calendar desktop application to sync your outlook (via plugin) to your google calendar, which the Android device could then pull down... unfortunately, like many users in a professional environment, the IT group here refuses to give me admin privileges on my work computer. I tried installing the google calendar app into a non-protected directory, but when it tries to activate the Outlook plugin it simply fails with an error listed as 1008. Upon looking that up, it of course says it is user privileges related.
In addition, if my work PC is off, I wouldn't get those new meetings pushed to my device anyway... so that is a big hassle as well.
Is there a free way to get this done WITHOUT the google calendar desktop app? I have all the account info I need (hell, I already set this up many times on my iphone over the years)...
EDIT: Also I would like to state that I don't want a separate calendar app... I want to use the base Android one. I'm fine with getting an app to enable that, but I don't really want to have 2 different calendar apps to go through...
I have problem with calendar on my HTC desire. Sync with ms exchange works fine, but I can't add new exchange event on the phone. It is strange becouse I can edit exchange calendar entries (synced from PC). Has anybody got an idea how to fix it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI succeeded in setting up exchange email on my nexus one.The things that bothers me a bit is that I can only select to sync emails from the last week/month/etc.In some cases I want to look at an old email to perform my work.It's great how with IMAP email you can scroll down and just press a button to read more emails. Is there anything similar for exchange? Or at least some workaround?

Due to random restarts, I had to do a hard reset, and now I keep getting "Failed to create the account. Please try again later." This has been happening for the past few days since I did the hard reset.
When I initially set it up, I just put in my work email and password and had no problems. Now, I've tried every configuration possible in both normal and manual setup. Anyone got any other ideas?
I did a hard reset of the phone earlier today. Now, when setting up the exchange account, it works fine and brings in emails but only up to the time when I reset the phone. Any email past 7:15 does not show up. Forcing a refresh comes up with a message saying that it is not able to connect to exchange.

I live by my calendar so this is a big problem for me. My Droid has this function.. I don't understand why Google would leave this out. I guess there's always 3rd party apps.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the At&t N1 and set it up with my Exchange server. The biggest issue I've run into is that the phone seems to ignore my File As setting for the contacts. Some of them are sorted as "first last" and others are "last, first", even though in Outlook they're all the same. I've removed the account and set it back up again with the same result. Actually, after removing the account, the contacts didn't clear either, neither did the calendar.
I got the trial version of Touchdown, which eventually cleared the phone's contact list, but I could never get it to sync its contact database with the phone's. According to their FAQ there should be an option for it, but that never shows up for me. It doesn't really matter to me if I have to use Touchdown to accomplish this or not, but if I do, then I want it to sync to my phone's database because I like the Favorites tab
Out of curiosity is there any battery savings (or other inherent savings) in using a pre-set time to check Exchange email vs. Push? For example my corporate email is Exchange and my BlackBerry is set to push; on my N1 I have it set-up to check every 10 minutes. Would using Push decrease my battery life? Decrease my RAM? Any other downsides?
On the flip side - are there any advantages to enabling Push?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have set this phone up with my works exchange server without hassle but Ive found that the list that appears when I try to move an email sorts by name rather than by the structure as per exchange.
Ie if I have a couple of root folders and all contain a folder such as staffing - when I go to move an email to a folder on my nexus s its sorted by name so I have 3 staffing folders in a row and no way to identify which belongs to which.
So I was hoping there would be some kind of easy-to-setup software that lets you sync music from your computer to your Nexus One..but that doesn't seem to be case? Does Google REALLY not have easy to setup software that does this for Nexus One owners? Whoever at HTC or Google thought it would be great to put the MicroSD behind the phones battery should be freakin fired.

Using TouchDown it will sync the calendar but not the mail.Tried switching auto sync data on and off, deleting and reinstating account, restarting phone - in various combinations nothing works.
Can I get my Galaxy Nexus to show the colors of the appropriate appointment/mail on a widget? For now, only Outlook itself does this. In Android, the appointments are all white.

Last week i dropped the my inc, broke the glass and got a new inc from asurion, which shipped with 2.2. I never installed the 2.2 on the old phone. Since the new phone, none of my work emails pop. If I open the mail app it syncs. I deleted and reinstalled the account a few times and no change. Anyone with these issues with 2.2 and know how to correct it?Also my phone is not rooted.

For example: When I was on winmo, my Exchange appointment and outlook appointment would update each other not create a duplicate. Now that I've synced my PC, I have the same appointment twice on my phone. Green for Exchange and Orange for Outlook. Is there anyway to keep the data the same? In other words, if I have a 5pm meeting on exchange, and I sync with outlook, I want both sources to update the same appointment. Not create another 5pm meeting.

(i'm using plain vanilla Outlook, no Exchange). i happen to run all email via a gmail account for backup, spam filtering, emergencies when I don't have my laptop) so syncing email is not an issue.

I can refresh my email, but I can't see a calendar refresh option? I worked it out. Just go to home screen, menu, Settings, Data synchronization, Exchange ActiveSync and there's a Sync now button at the bottom of the screen that syncs mail, contacts and calendar when you click it. Perfect. Would be nice if it was a little easier to get to though!
