I'm occasionally getting an alert from the app Blink that tells me i'm running low on memory. What exactly does this mean? Are too many apps running, or is too much simply installed?
How do I go about reviewing the memory being used, and then how to free some up? What amount or % of memory should be free?

I received a 'low memory' message last night and my first action was to dump some unneeded apps which seemed to relieve the problem, but I figure that it is just a matter of time until it comes back. I am not using the SD card for anything right now and was wondering if that could be a path to avoiding this in the future. If so, what can I move there and how do I do it? Can I run apps from the SD card? I have a couple of large 3rd party apps including Grocery iQ (9.25MB), Touchdown (7.98MB), Documents to Go (7.59MB) and Trapster (4.61MB) along with a bunch that are in the 3-4MB range.
View 8 Replies View RelatedHere's the proof of the madness. I deleted several space hogging applications and it hasn't gone away. I have also power cycled and messed around with a few settings and the low storage warning will not go away.
View 49 Replies View RelatedIn cyanogenmod settings under input settings there is an option for always pulse. Unfortunately for us this option is grayed out because it refers to the trackball. It does also work for the led light on our phones though. I much prefer my LED to blink when I have a notification even when the screen is on because if I am doing something that takes up the entire screen I otherwise may not notice the notification. Bugs me that this option is grayed out in CM6 so I decided to find a way around it.
So what I did is pulled the cmparts.apk from CM6 RC2 for the Nexus One. You can download it here.

Just make sure you put it on your computer in the directory that you will be running adb from.
Then reboot into recovery and mount /system
Then go on your computer and ADB.
Then adb push cmparts.apk /system/app
Then reboot. You will now have the option in cyanogenmod settings to always pulse. You will also have the option to Trackball Wake and Trackball unlock although these options will not do anything.
i guess 160 apps is pushin it, eh? i have cyanogen but i still haven't messed with reformatting my sd card for apps2sd.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI gave my wife my D2, did a factory reset on it beforehand. She's been playing on it now for almost a week with no problem until today..
It started off with her gallery, when you try to go into the gallery it will kick you right back out into the launcher. I can use astro to get to her pics but any pics she takes now won't work. So then she went into her messaging app, all it does is cycle, it won't load up any messages at all.. I really don't know what's wrong with it, trying to avoid a factory reset if I can, but I will if it's my only option.
I have BB 0.4 with blue energy theme and chevy 1.1 lv kernel. Along with Launcher Pro. Normally the notification LED will blink when i get a text while doing normal stuff or nothing at all. But when i am gaming the LED doesnt blink. Has any one have a problem with this? Also, when i open a message from the notification bar instead of the message box in the dock. The dock still displays the number of messages unread even after reading it.

View 7 Replies View RelatedNoob that's had the EVO just a couple weeks and used it to take pics mostly. Got the storage space warning so I offloaded all the pics to my laptop but phone still showing storage space warning and internal memory shows 24.00KB No apps have been installed yet, stock Sprint EVO phone. I'm getting 3 email accounts to the phone and the memory shows email is at 336 megs. Is that what is swamping the memory on this phone? I turned off the emails but the phone won't let me delete all the emails now, I get an error or email has stopped and have to force close the app.

(So much to do, I was bored with i Phone 4 ) So far battery life is not that great, drops 10 % every hour or 2 without heavy duty. (is this normal?) But yeah my question is every time I unlock the screen,(so when the screen wakes up) the notification light blinks with blue/red color. Is that normal? I checked Motorola, it wasn't on the manual.

I checked my phone this morning, I had 120 mb internal memory, and now I am down to 2.26mb of memory. My phone gets warm, battery drains. Nothing is running!
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter 3 years of being an iphone user ive decided to go with the captivate! Ive had it for a couple days and I am loving it! I dont know what happened though. I recorded one video that was about :30 seconds and took two pictures. Now when I open my camera I get a "warning low memory" message. I checked the sd and phone storage from the settings and its showing 1.68gb available? also when i go to gallery i cannot look at pictures or watch the video I recorded.

View 1 Replies View RelatedDo not try to SBF back to 2.1 if you did the OTA 2.2 update. It will brick your phone completely. New bootloader version is 30.03. I tried to SBF back to 2.1 after doing to OTA 2.2 update and you cant. RSD finishes the SBF, but when the phone is suppose to reboot it wont. Instead you get an error "Err:A5,70,70,00,1F" on the bootloader. Won't let you boot to recovery or nothing. Just boots to bootloader. So Im bricked till theres a fix..

However, I kept having the Droid come on in my holster and it was driving me batty how it would unlock on it's own. Then it hit me. The holster clips shut MAGNETICALLY.The Droid thought it was in a multimedia dock so it stayed on while on my side.THAT's why my battery was draining so fast.So, be sure to get a velcro or other type of holster, nothing with magnets.
View 16 Replies View RelatedGot the new Moto Droid which is spectacular. The Gmail sync with Outlook is brilliant. My old HTC Windows Mobile that held 87 appointments for the next year was synced with Windows Outlook which was then sent to my Gmail calender.The Droid automatically listed all appointments seamlessly.When I listed my HTC on eBay, I had to clear all contacts and appointments. This is very labor intensive to do on the phone one by one. I synced the HTC with Outlook and erased all info on the old HTC. I did not think much of it when a window popped up indicating that my Gmail calender would erase these items too and IIRC I clicked OK.A funny thing happened the next day when I plugged the Droid into the computer. The auto sync with the Gmail calender updated my Droid calender with the newly erased Gmail calender. It erased every appointment on the Droid as the calender auto transferred.After I changed my undershorts, I was able to restore the Droid by going to Outlook "deleted items", move them back to the calender folder in Outlook, sync with Gmail, and finally sync with the Droid again.

My Droid was sitting on my desk next to me, it had about 80% battery life left, I get a few txt messages, and then its giving me the warning that my battery life is 15% and to plug it into the charger. Well I put it on the charger, and not even 30 seconds go by, and its fully charged. This has only happened once so far, but I am concerned is the battery slowly dying out, or is it just a glitch in the phone?

Has anybody found a way to make the trackball blink for various other notifications other than SMS and eMail? I use google talk all the time and I would love to have the trackball light blink slowly (just like the normal alert for a waiting SMS message) when I receive a google talk message that I haven't read. Or how about gMail? They light up the notification led blinking green but there is no trackball notification. I'm actually quite surprised there doesn't seem to be any setting I can find to make the trackball blink for various notifications. My phone's already rooted so that should expand my options but I haven't found anybody that's done this yet.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm upgrading from my Droid 1 to the Droid X tomorrow and would like to start my use of the DX with it's new 32gb card in place of my old 16gb card from my Droid 1 but need to know if there's anything required to copy from my droid 1 16gb card to my new DX 32 gb card that would be required or helpful in the DX use.I will obviously transfer music/vids/pics but are there any essential files, apps, etc. that are needed.Or is it a good idea to use my paid MyBackupPro to copy the old Droid 1 apps/data for use in the DX larger memory card or is this not copatible to perform between the 2 devices?

There are problems with the security certificate for this site.
X: This certificate is not from a trusted authority
THEN it gives me three options Continue, View, Cancel
When I hit continue, it thinks for a minute and pops back up. View brings me to a viewing screen and then after you hit okay, back to the same warning screen and cancel. . . well cancels.
Just wondering, really. I have 157MB left, but I like to have minimal apps! I only get the ones I know I'm going to use alot.
