I am using my brothers upgrade tomorrow to get the X. If I go to the verizon store without his phone can verizon reactivate his phone after transferring the X to my line or do they need his phone there to reactivate it?
View 15 Replies View RelatedI have a few questions about theming apps. I don't know much about Android apps, but was thinking about looking into theming some. Before I do, I want to find out if it is worthwhile or if it will be constant re-theming after every update.
When an app is themed (like the Revolution Facebook version for example) Can it be updated through the market or released APK?
If updated through the market, will it be overwritten when the app updates?
Do market updates only change the pieces needed or do they replace the whole app?
Are themed apps always complete versions or are they sometimes just the images and other parts that were themed?

View 49 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to Froyo and when I put the phone in the desktop dock it goes into desktop mode but the screen times out after about 30 seconds. When I had 2.1 it stayed fully lit the whole time it was on the dock.Did this happen to anyone else?This is really annoying because I use it next to my office computer to easily check my schedule, time, tasks etc.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI upgraded to cyanogen 5.0.7.5 and now the text under the icons is messed up. When I upgraded I used rom updater and did a wipe with all the data. When I reboot it shows up fine but a couple hours later they are pushed to the right and you can't read all of it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter having upgraded to Smoked Glass, I had it on my phone for no longer than 30 minutes when I was hit with a new OTA notification.
I have already downloaded the file, and it is FRG01B again. The difference, though, is that, instead of patching a ton of files on the fly during the install, which is how the old one worked, this one simply formats System and then copies the entire contents of system from the .ZIP to your phone.
Be that as it may, it looks like I *somehow* got a notification for a full ROM update from VZW.
Again, like I said, it is FRG01B - but the good news is that this is a full ROM, and for those having issues with the previous one, which makes sure you have ESE81 (2.1) installed on your phone, this one does *not*.
Theoretically, I should be able to install this over any previous version of Android - which I am about to test right now.
Just a tip, you can increase the capacity on your Droid 2 if you swap the microSD cards from your Droid 1. The Droid 1 comes with a 16GB microSD card while the Droid 2 only has 8gb (because it already has another 8gb internally).Also, another nice perk to doing this is the 16gb card is a Class 4 while the 8gb is only Class 2 (Class 4 has higher transfer speeds).

View 1 Replies View RelatedDo not try to SBF back to 2.1 if you did the OTA 2.2 update. It will brick your phone completely. New bootloader version is 30.03. I tried to SBF back to 2.1 after doing to OTA 2.2 update and you cant. RSD finishes the SBF, but when the phone is suppose to reboot it wont. Instead you get an error "Err:A5,70,70,00,1F" on the bootloader. Won't let you boot to recovery or nothing. Just boots to bootloader. So Im bricked till theres a fix..

How do I go about reviewing the memory being used, and then how to free some up? What amount or % of memory should be free?
I have an HTC holster that I used for the last year. The Droid JUST fits into it. However, I kept having the Droid come on in my holster and it was driving me batty how it would unlock on it's own. Then it hit me. The holster clips shut MAGNETICALLY.The Droid thought it was in a multimedia dock so it stayed on while on my side.THAT's why my battery was draining so fast.So, be sure to get a velcro or other type of holster, nothing with magnets.
View 16 Replies View RelatedGot the new Moto Droid which is spectacular. The Gmail sync with Outlook is brilliant. My old HTC Windows Mobile that held 87 appointments for the next year was synced with Windows Outlook which was then sent to my Gmail calender.The Droid automatically listed all appointments seamlessly.When I listed my HTC on eBay, I had to clear all contacts and appointments. This is very labor intensive to do on the phone one by one. I synced the HTC with Outlook and erased all info on the old HTC. I did not think much of it when a window popped up indicating that my Gmail calender would erase these items too and IIRC I clicked OK.A funny thing happened the next day when I plugged the Droid into the computer. The auto sync with the Gmail calender updated my Droid calender with the newly erased Gmail calender. It erased every appointment on the Droid as the calender auto transferred.After I changed my undershorts, I was able to restore the Droid by going to Outlook "deleted items", move them back to the calender folder in Outlook, sync with Gmail, and finally sync with the Droid again.

My Droid was sitting on my desk next to me, it had about 80% battery life left, I get a few txt messages, and then its giving me the warning that my battery life is 15% and to plug it into the charger. Well I put it on the charger, and not even 30 seconds go by, and its fully charged. This has only happened once so far, but I am concerned is the battery slowly dying out, or is it just a glitch in the phone?

Is a app killer necessary or can I just do a phone reboot via the power menu 2. How often is it necessary to run a allkiller/system reboot? 3. Is there any way to stop sending extra emails into my Thunderbird email that is linked to my gmail account?. Is there a certain memory level I should try and maintain? I am not using the SD card for anything right now and was wondering if that could be a path to avoiding this in the future. If so, what can I move there and how do I do it? Can I run apps from the SD card? I have a couple of large 3rd party apps including Grocery iQ (9.25MB), Touchdown (7.98MB), Documents to Go (7.59MB) and Trapster (4.61MB) along with a bunch that are in the 3-4MB range.

There are problems with the security certificate for this site.
X: This certificate is not from a trusted authority
THEN it gives me three options Continue, View, Cancel
When I hit continue, it thinks for a minute and pops back up. View brings me to a viewing screen and then after you hit okay, back to the same warning screen and cancel. . . well cancels.
Is there a way to change when I get a low battery warning message? Can I make it at 5 % not the default? Also, can I turn off the audio notification for the low battery warning?
I an very new to the Eris, so I apologize if this is a simple change that I just haven't found yet.
I've successfully and smoothly been done to upgrade my Desire to the 2.2 in China. Now I am still having some confusion about what I should get from the 2.2:
1. Do I still have to press the power button to unlock the screen?
2. Why are all the downloaded apps not able to move to SD card (the Move to SD button appears shaded)
3. Is Task Killer necessary as it was before the upgrade?
Froyo RUU upgraders only, Home->Settings->Applications->Manage Applications and select the "All" tab and scroll down to find the "Field Test" app and check the version.

I was trying to root my refurb 1.5 that I just got yesterday. And thinking that I was putting the root file on my phone, the one that I downloaded from the instructions and placed it on my sd card, I did the volume down+power button to get to hboot screen. It said upgrade and I pressed yes, not realizing that it was the 2.1 upgrade it wanted me to do and not root. Now I'm on 2.1, which I did not want.
View 30 Replies View RelatedDisclaimer: I've started a new thread as I felt this was distinct enough from 2.2 feedback and different from a similar thread.I upgraded to 2.2 today, did it over my mobile H connection and it all worked fine, no problems to report.Got home and turned the wi-fi on and while it will see all the surround access points, included mine, it won't actually connect to mine. When I go right into the settings and look at what's happening it appears to be unable to get past 'Obtaining Address.Nothing has changed on my wireless setup from this morning when 2.1 connected fine.I've rebooted both the router and the phone and it still doesn't connect. All i've not done yet is a factory reset on the phone, but to be honest i'm loathe to do that unless it's completely necessary.Strangely the wi-fi hotspot feature on the phone is working fine.Can someone please help, this is a major issue for me.

While you most probably won't be able to make the build go as fast as cupcake, this guide will help you squeeze all the juice you can out of the build, mostly by deleting useless resource-hogging apps. Please note I am not responsible for any damages to your device. Now lets remove some pretty useless apps. Obviously if you use any of these, do not remove them.
1) HTC Sync. If you don't use it, delete it. It is really a resource hog. Please not that before starting any of these command. Please not that you only need to type in adb remount once before you type in all these codes. Note: Please note that the * after PCSII* is in fact supposed to be there, and is not a typo!

I have an application which has notifications that disappear when the application is closed to be reinstalled or upgraded. How can I have my application either run code when it is first installed or have it detect the first time it is run?
