How do I get rid of the ring notification that announces "Verizon Wireless" before sending or receiving any calls. I am going crazy knowing it has to be something silly.

Just got my X today and I'm having a problem. When someone calls me, before the ringtone, a female voice announces "Verizon Wireless!," and then it proceeds to the ring.
It's obnoxious as hell. Anyone know how to turn that "feature" off?
every time I make a call, receive a call, turn the phone off, turn the phone on, loose service or gain service, a voice says "Verizon Wireless". This is very annoying and I can't seem to figure out how to turn it off. Changing ring tones and such does not work, still says "Verizon Wireless". Is there anyway to turn this off?

I am currently not rooted, but will be doing so in the next few days (I'm still trying to decide what ROM i want to flash to start out). I don't know if this is even possible, but I thought it would be another good way to make my phone unique.
View 14 Replies View RelatedSo just yesterday 12-1-09 my phone stopped receiving text messages and phone calls. People try to call me and get 4 rings then voicemail. My phone doesnt ring at all. I can place calls and browse the internet, run sprint navigation and all my apps just fine. It has been a perfect phone ever since I bought it. (11-01-09). I did a factory Hard Reset and still my phone didnt receive calls. Called Sprint and they had me turn off my phone and refreshed some info. Had to change the MSID # when i turned my phone back on but still nothing. Has anyone else had this happen to them. The only way I can receive my text messages is if I place a call then they seem to come through.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is the second Droid that has started freezing on me and I have checked all of my apps individually and I have soft reset and factory reset twice....still keeps freezing when trying to return to home screen.(screen goes black and does nothing). So I called the VZ rep and he was extremely helpful. Instead of sending a refurb, he sent me a brand new droid. It wont be here until Monday (due to the holidays) but I was quite impressed with their customer service.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought my Droid on line via Phandroid/Verizon Wireless just after midnight on Friday and filled out all the info, picked a Verizon plan, gave them my current cell number (which is an AT&T Mobile number) and checked the boxes that said "yes, please port my old number on to my new Verizon phone".
So I get the phone today (superfast -- I hadn't even paid for overnight delivery). But when I follow the instructions to activate, the activation fails. I touch the Droid on the touchscreen, it brings up the phone, I follow the voice prompts and dial my cell number, but it doesn't work.
Spoke with a VW customer service rep (late night Saturday night). He gave me a different customer service # to call on Sunday for help with "porting."
I sure hope I get this straightened out quickly. Maybe I should've just bought the Droid at a Verizon store and let the VW store guys activate it for me.
The VW customer service rep was saying I should see a "temporary Verizon cell #" somewhere on my receipt or packing slip. But there isn't any. Just the mobile # that I'm trying to port over from AT&T.
Did I do something wrong when I ordered the phone? Or is it normal for there to be a delay in getting the old # ported?
I can't figure out how to get the "Verizon Wireless" audio out of my ringtones. The ring starts out by saying "Verizon Wireless" then the ringtone, and it repeats...

View 1 Replies View RelatedI spent an hour on the phone with a Verizon CSR and he could not get wifi to work on my DX, so he said they will send a new replacement on 8/3.He instructed me to do a factory reset, so it looks like I lost all my data. I really wish I would have backed up my contacts, but he said they would sync back up within an hour. I hope he's right because I don't want to bluetooth them again ONE BY ONE. Can anybody confirm the gmail sync? I lost all my texts and apps too. I'm pretty sure I read that if I had used appbrain I wouldn't have lost all my apps. But, I don't know if there's a way to back up texts.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIntermittent head-set issues, specifically No sound when placing or receiving calls. I receive a call, they can hear me...but I can't hear them. I call them back, only to encounter more of the same. I reboot my phone, all is good...until the next occurrence. Contacted Verizon Tech-center, who walked me through a factory default settings switch. Called Verizon back to inform them that the factory default was not help.
They updated my case, and will have the Tech. dept. call me back. Initially this would happen once a month, now it's two-three times a week. Everything else on the Droid works fine - Internet, Email-Sync, Apps...
When I make a call, or sometime when someone calls me, I have to put the phone on speaker in order to hear the other end. Apparently, whoever is on the other end can still hear me before I do this, but it is pretty much happening all the time now. Has anyone else experienced this? I googled and looked for some kind of setting, but I have not found a solution yet.

So I was using my the handcent sms app on my Droid today and all a sudden the person i was sending messages to was receiving the messages 3 times. Then all a sudden when i went back to text someone else my whole thread was gone and all my messages had been deleted. Then I try using the stock messaging app and obviously all my threads are deleted but messages send twice, any suggestions?

What if it's a possible announcement on 2.1 for either the Droid or the Eris or both? Nothing's official yet, at least about what the conference concerns, but two different sources have said this so it looks like it's true. If it is about the iPhone hitting Verizon, they may still weasel in some small tidbits about other stuff, Android included.

I can take them and post them to Facebook easily, but I can't e-mail or send a text message with a picture in it. Also, when someone sends me a picture message, it shows an icon to download it, but then it always says it was unsuccessful.

When I send the phone back to them, should I put Leak V3 on the phone so that the numbers match up better, or do you guys think it will matter? Should I somehow just erase that HBOOT thing off of the phone and just send it to them all bricked? I'm trying to hide evidence of leak installation as best as possible so that they don't decide to charge me or something for the replacement. input Good news is my wife is finally getting a new phone after I jacked it up with the leak.

View 2 Replies View RelatedFor some strange reason I can't seem to set-up my personal e-mail account on this Droid phone. I click on "e-mail", I type in my e-mail address and my password, and then I click "next". And then I get a message that says my username and/or password does not match. But I am positive it does, as I have gone online to test it. I have tried retyping my username and passwrod over and over again without any success. I can't get passed that screen.
I have Verizon FiOS at my house, so my e-mail is set-up through Verizon/Yahoo.
Is it possible to have these at separate volumes? I want to have my ring volume all the way up and have my notifications, such as sms, a little quieter. Is this possible?
View 3 Replies View Relatedhaving problems receiving calls. When I call the phone from another line, nothing happens except its logged as a missed call. The screen doesnt light up and no options for receiving calls. This happened before I installed Google voice. I disabled Google voice and still no joy. Everything else works. I can make calls, browse over WiFi and 3G.
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy Eris has been acting very buggy. I am running the OTA OS 2.1. (I have not rooted my phone.) Please excuse me if I sound fairly ignorant about my phone in this post. I'm not very technical.
My phone has very little internal memory left. I read that I needed to delete all apps I wasn't using, clear cache, export contacts to sd card, import contacts from phone back on and then delete any unused contacts. I've done all of that and my avail internal memory is still only 50 MB.
My screen freezes on occassion when making or receiving calls. I seem to miss occassional calls. And there is considerable lag.
These probably all sound like silly problems but like I said, I'm not very technical. I've read others have some of the same issues.. And like I said, I tried some of the solutions mentioned.

View 2 Replies View Relatedso I'm a new evo owner, had the phone for about 2 weeks.Love it, it's the best.Onto the problem.When I first got my phone I was sending and recieving pics no problem.A few days later I was not able to send a pic. I thought it might be too big, but knew that the evo should reduce the size and send it.After doing some reading online, I found many people suggested downloading handcent.I did this, but still can't send or receive mms. My phone is not rooted, don't know what that would do anyway.I know there are some hardcore evo users reading these threads and I see many people have had the same problem I have, but I have not found an answer to this yet.It's not a huge deal if I can't see the picture my buddy send me of his ass, but with this phone I should be able to see it if I want to.
