Does anybody else have a problem with sending and receiving picture messages with the Droid Eris? I can take them and post them to Facebook easily, but I can't e-mail or send a text message with a picture in it. Also, when someone sends me a picture message, it shows an icon to download it, but then it always says it was unsuccessful.

If im using ChompSMS and smspopup for sending and receiving texts. Can I close the "messages" app? I was thinking I can but was unsure if all it is used for is text messages.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure if this had already been addressed but is anyone having trouble sending picture (or video, etc.) mms on the eris? I'm currently using handcent and it would not send any picture texts. The sending green bubble keeps spinning no matter how long I leave it. Then the text becomes "undelivered."
I also tried sending picture mms with the native message app and it got sent but the people I was trying to send it to said they didn't receive anything.
Today i tried to do something that i used to do back in my Alias 2 days (regular cellphone), but couldn't.
Can i record a simple voice message and send it via MMS? It was pretty simple to do with a cell phone...
I saw that the eris comes with a voice recorder, but i recorded a message and was not able to send it.
Any ideas?
Also, when sending pictures via MMS, it always resizes them and obviously the person receiving doesn't get the same quality. I realize that sending via Gmail doesn't resize, but i send to other cell phones a lot.
I'm thinking the only fix is lowering the camera resolution? I think that lowering the resolution is still better than having it resized for the message. Has anyone tried lowering the resolution to a point that the picture does not need to be resized for MMS?
Same thing for Video messages.. can't even send them. Not sure if it's HAndcent, or the file is just to big
Why do I keep receiving texts a little movies instead of just a picture? This is getting annoying. Every pic I get sent to me is like this and every pic I send does the same. Am I doing something wrong?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm having issues sending picture messages using the messaging app. I get an error saying that I typed in an invalid address. I think that this is because its not resizing the images that I try to send.... When i use Handcent all works like it is supposed to but not when I use the default messaging application.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIt works and all, but it's kinda weird. It's like the Droid has a diff way of putting together picture messages (like w/ .gif files and such). There's usually a pause, then it starts, but each transition is slow and then after it shows, you then get whatever messaged was typed in. My g/f sends me stuff from her LG Dare, and it's all put together as it should be. It's been this way for both the stock messenger and Handcent. Is there a preference option I need to tweak?

View 4 Replies View RelatedIn the Messaging app in 2.2 when I'm in a thread it shows a pic of me and a pic of the other person next to every text sent and received. In the 2.1 app it simply showed my name and the other persons name; no pic of us next to every text. Is there anyway to disable showing the pics in the 2.2 app? Really don't see the need to have a pic next to each text.

One picture took around 10 minutes to send. My apartment has bad reception, but when I sent these messages I had 3g and 3 reception bars. Is this normal?

View 19 Replies View RelatedI use the backgrounds app, and it lets me save backgrounds to my SD card. I go into Astro/ sdcard/ backgrounds and then click on the picture. It gives me 2 options to open it. "ASTRO Image Viewer" and "View picture". For me to use it as a background I have to pull it up in "View picture", BUT....no matter how many times I try and pull it up that way, it shows me the first picture in my camera album. If I click "ASTRO Image Viewer", I can always see the picture I selected, but under menu, I only have the option to "share" and nothing else. Can you tell me why the selected picture won't show up in "View picture"?

I thought it might be too big, but knew that the evo should reduce the size and send it.After doing some reading online, I found many people suggested downloading handcent.I did this, but still can't send or receive mms. My phone is not rooted, don't know what that would do anyway.I know there are some hardcore evo users reading these threads and I see many people have had the same problem I have, but I have not found an answer to this yet.It's not a huge deal if I can't see the picture my buddy send me of his ass, but with this phone I should be able to see it if I want to.
View 5 Replies View RelatedHow can two EVO�s purchased at the same time have the most random problems?My girlfriend and I bought our EVO�s at the same time/place and both have completely different random problems.
#1) When we first got our phones we tested out a bunch of stuff including texting photos to each other. She got the ones I sent, but I didn�t receive hers. I thought it was something wrong with my phone, but after a bunch of testing, it looks like it�s hers. What makes it annoyingly weird is that I can receive texts with photos from her UNLESS she sends it in this manner: from the photo she chooses share, then the screen comes up to enter who to send it to. If she enters my name by hitting the search magnifying glass in the upper right and then chooses my name, I will not get the text. Every other way she sends it, I will receive the text. Makes zero sense as I can send her a photo text any which way from my phone and she gets it.
#2) My EVO has the 4 navigation buttons dimly lit all the time unless it�s plugged into the charger. Her phone does not. Not a huge deal, but I am concerned it is draining the battery just that much more unnecessarily.

Then all a sudden when i went back to text someone else my whole thread was gone and all my messages had been deleted. Then I try using the stock messaging app and obviously all my threads are deleted but messages send twice, any suggestions?

Sometimes they are sent and received without a problem when I'm connected via WiFi, but on other occasions I have to switch to a data connection to send or retrieve MMS messages.The message I occasionally encounter is "generic network failure".

I just tested with my wife's iphone, and I could send emoji fine with my HTC Desire (Softbank x06HT), and I could receive it fine! A big selection of emoji too, maybe the complete set that Softbank usually includes on their other phones. It is buggy and a bit clunky, but it's a *lot* better than nothing! Lots of complaining in the comments section, but I don't think it's that bad. Now, the big question: Is it available in other markets? I'm in Japan right now, and I searched for "Softbank" in the market and I found it... It's called "Softbank メール". The link that they sent me in a news SMS is: "http://market.android.com/search?q=jp.softbank.mb.mail". They also say it is Froyo only...
Lastly, for those who have been in Japan a while and have an @softbank.ne.jp or @x.vodafone.ne.jp (like me) can now use those mails on their phones as well, inside the app. I sent myself a message and received it fine, and when I replied it sent from my old vodafone mail address (although I haven't figured out how to choose between SMS and e-mail for sending yet). EDIT: Figured it out, just type in a phone number (or choose from contacts) to send an SMS, type in an e-mail address to send from your @softbank or @vodafone address. Swet. I'll see if I can post the full message, for those who can read Japanese (I can't read very much of it, only hiragana/katakana).

View 3 Replies View RelatedI developed a game for Android called Jumping Bird, it writes the score obtained by the player in the database on my web server, but it does so synchronized. While it tries to write data in the database on the web, the entire game is stopped , and worse, when the server is slow, the request takes more than 5 or 10 seconds, an ANR(application not respond) error occurs and the OS tries to close the app.
I wonder how I can make that request asynchronous.There is any library that does it?
