If im using ChompSMS and smspopup for sending and receiving texts. Can I close the "messages" app? I was thinking I can but was unsure if all it is used for is text messages.

I love chompSMS but since I installed it I can't receive and txts at all to either the default client or chomp?
I uninstalled Chomp and now it works fine.

I just activated my new fascinate and can not receive or send texts from my GF (who is on att) but I can get texts from my roommates (on verizon). Anyone know what the deal is?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI called tech support for the third time because of an issue with my Eris not receiving texts. I spent an hour of useless troubleshooting with him having to turn my phone off and on a bunch and doing a factory reset. After that didn't fix it (surprise surprise, all that inconvenience for nothing) he tells me I'll have to have it replaced with a refurb. I told him that I don't consider a refurbished phone to be an equal replacement and I'm happy to pay a fee of some kind to get a new Eris, just like I would if I went through the insurance (cause those are new, right? if they're refurbs I'll be pissed...). He LAUGHED at me, and said "Every time a phone comes to the end of its term people call in with excuses to get the new model. This is why we don't make exceptions, or else more people like you would be calling in."

I went to the verizon store and all they said was to just take out battery, ive done that a couple times and its gotten worse. Does anyone know a way to fix it. View 11 Replies View RelatedI was texting my friend last night, and suddenly she just stopped replying. I was confused but I didn't think much of it. Then, later, on facebook I was talking to her again, and she said she never got the last two texts that I tried to send. Both the stock messages app, and chompsms say they were sent (I think is there some way to check for sure). I was wondering if anyone else had this issue. Its only a few texts every so often, but it was annoying.

Does anybody else have a problem with sending and receiving picture messages with the Droid Eris? I can take them and post them to Facebook easily, but I can't e-mail or send a text message with a picture in it. Also, when someone sends me a picture message, it shows an icon to download it, but then it always says it was unsuccessful.
View 2 Replies View RelatedLately, not all the time, whenever I send a text, I watch the reception bar at the top and it is not dropping to 1x to send the text. In addition, some of my friends have not been receiving my texts when I send them.
Are these two things related? I swear I've seen it before where it drops to 1x to send the text, and then goes back to 3G..
I guess it's also possible that the phone is dropping to 1x, but the bar up top isn't updating?
Is it possible to continue sending a text message after I press the red lock key? I keep sending messages and putting my phone in my pocket and then twenty minutes later will open my phone and realize it never sent. Is there any way to press send and then be able to immediately press the red button to lock the screen?

I checked hand cent delivery report under the hand cent settings and unchecked delivery report from carrier. I searched all the other menus and can't figure it out. I get one pop up that has a done/later/eply window and then another underneath that is bigger that has little icons(paper,mike,person,trash and volume) Is this normal behavior? Or is there a setting that I just cannot find.

I have slightly themed ChompSMS. Got this "cracked" version from another website, which removed ads. Then I themed it up a little. Unfortunately it is version 3.6, which isn't the latest build, but works pretty flawlessly for me.
Updates:
-No ads!
-Changed ChompSMS icon to stock Android (green smiley) icon.
-Changed message unread bar to green instead of blue.
-Changed highlight color from blue, to the yellow-orangeish stock Android selection color. (Look at screenshots)
-Changed the green notification icon to the stock green smiley icon (you have to change this in notification settings, it isn't defaulted).

I used to be a Handcent user and recently switched to ChompSMS. I couldn't be happier with my decision.
It's much faster, much prettier, and has all the features I need or want.
I just don't understand why Handcent seems to be the more popular SMS app.
When i first installed chomp about 2 months ago the keyboard was quicker (less laggy) than the stock message app now it has a ton of lag. anybody else have this issue with chomp? also its getting some fc issues on certain mms. anybody know anything about these issues?

View 3 Replies View RelatedIt started happening that whenever I send texts, they will arrive as partial texts to the person. A lot of times I will send a short text and the second half of it is completely cut off. When I try to send long texts, my phone will be trying to send it with the little loading icon for basically forever. I end up canceling the text because I guess it's not sending. It's like my phone is having trouble sending texts but I can make calls fine and can use the 3G network. This makes no sense because I have been using my Droid at my house for 3 months without a problem, and I just went on a trip for the weekend and when I got back, it keeps doing this. My service at my house should not have changed. I thought it was a problem with Handcent SMS, so I tried the stock Messaging app and am having the same problems.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've noticed this start to happen more and more frequently. I will get a text, say at 7:30, and not get a notification until I check the app, or my phone will vibrate and say I got the text anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes after it actually got to my phone (observed). This doesn't happen all the time, mind you. Anyone else notice this? It's annoying because I'll get a text and I won't KNOW I got it until a while after. It also seems to only happen if I haven't gotten a text in a certain period of time. Like, the longer I go without receiving a text, the longer it will take for Chomp to give me my notification. Again this doesn't happen all the time but it does happen and I'm not sure if I've just been noticing it more or what is happening.
I did a factory reset when I got the 2.1 OTA so I guess it's not something that could fix, unlike the saving attachments issue I had before the reset. The only thing I can think of is the length of a thread I have on here, it has about 600 messages in it. But I've had threads with 1000+ messages and haven't had a problem before.
I used to have chompSMS and the trackball lit up when I got a new text. I uninstalled it and went back to the native texting app but decided I liked chompSMS's UI and ability to set different ringtones to different contacts so I went back to it... and now my trackball won't light up when I get a text. The notification LED flashes, but no trackball light at all. I kind of liked it cause it was the only way I could tell I got a text when I was on a call (seeing the trackball light up out of the corner of my eye).Any ideas as to what's wrong? Or does chompSMS's latest update not support the trackball lighting up anymore?The trackball still lights up for calls and emails though, so I know it's not the phone's hardware causing the problem.

View 1 Replies View RelatedFor some reason my EVO has decided to stop accepting any incoming calls, texts, or voice mails. I was only able to receive these messages when I was able to get a call to connect and I got a flood of voice mails and texts as if it hadn't been connected to the network the entire time. It also does this thing where it doesn't connect the call when I dial someone. Instead of connecting and seeing the time duration for the call appear, it instead takes forever to connect and just says dialing for a really long time. It was doing it last night, and then this morning it seemed to be normal again, but now it's doing it again. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? I won't have time to go to sprint until Monday and this is really irritating me.

I've noticed that I am receiving double texts from people. Its not just from one person, but a few (but not everyone). I will receive a text say at 7pm and then at 3am, I will receive the same text again. This only happens periodically and not for every text I receive. I think this might be a Sprint issue and not an EVO issue. Anyone else experiencing this?

When one particular contact of mine sends me a text I will receive an old text instead. Sometimes from that conversation, that day or it may be even older than that. Usually I receive the new text they sent me at some point later but not always. The contact is on the same carrier (Verizon) and using an iPhone 4. I should add that this was also happening on my Motorola Razr (same particular contact). The Razr was rooted and had a new ROM as well, but I believe it also did it when I went back to the stock ROM.
Does this sound like and issue with my friend's phone or mine? Her phone does not do this with any other person but me. And mine doesn't do it with any other person than her.
It happens when using stock messaging or Handcent.
