HTC Desire HD :: E-mail Notifications / Receiving Alerts For Mail Repeatedly
Nov 9, 2010My environment is:
1 Exchange Account - Push
1 IMAP (Gmail) - 2 hourly
1 POP (Hotmail) - Once daily
My issue is that I am receiving alerts for the same new mail repeatedly. Here's the gist:
11:50 - New mail hits my inbox.
12:00 - I receive a notification of the new email.
12:05 - I check my inbox, but choose not to open the email at this time.
14:00 - I get a notification of a 'new' email, yet on checking it's the one received at 11:50, but still haven't opened.
15:00 - Rinse and repeat. Now, I'm not sure how many times this is happening, or even if it's everytime, but there's something definitely glitchy with mail notifications.Has anybody else noticed similar behaviour? If not I may try removing/adding my accounts back in again.
Motorola Droid :: Receiving Strange E-mail
Nov 30, 2009I set up my Comcast e-mail account on my Droid phone. Several times a day, I receive blank e-mails dated 12/31/1969 (the time sent is always 7:00 p.m.). Plus, there is no name in the "To:" line or in the "Sent by" area. Any ideas on why I keep receiving these e-mails?

Nov 30, 2009When I send an e-mail from my Droid using my GMail account with the default GMail app, it sends me a copy of the e-mail. It does not do this with my other e-mail app. This is terribly annoying. I don't want a new e-mail of the e-mail I just sent in my inbox every time I send an e-mail. Is it possible to turn this off? I looked for a "reciept" option in the settings, but found nothing. The other e-mail app does not do this for my non-gmail accounts.

Nov 8, 2009I'm used to my BB which changes the gmail icon to one with an asterisk when i have new emails on gmail. the droid (android) does not. there's a pop up in the notifier bar but after that disappears there's not way to tell quickly if there's new mail received. is there anything i'm missing or an app that can notify me on the home screen that there's new email in my gmail inbox?

I've been using the HTC app, but have noticed that after a day or so the notification sound stops playing when I receive an email. This happened for anyone else? Anyone tried both apps for any length of time and have strong opinions over which app is better? I saw a review that said the HTC app is better but the Google one doesn't seem too bad to me... Anyone using the Google app that would care to chime in?

Jun 18, 2010I am running on the HTC EVO and as soon as I got my phone I set up my Gmail account through the automatic setup process. I used android market to get the Gmail widget (the one where the icon has the message coming out of the envelope and it looks like a red 'M'). That was working fine and I was getting my e-mails without any problems.The other day, I was tinkering with settings and I set up the HTC Mail widget, which I (stupidly) linked to the same Gmail account. I started to receive double notifications for my e-mails. I quickly realized I preferred the Gmail widget I was using previously, so I removed my account from the HTC Mail widget.So, my problem is that I no longer receive any notifications from the original Gmail widget when I get new e-mails. In fact, I no longer receive any notifications when I get e-mails. I have gone through all the settings I could find and all notifications are set to update automatically and alert me. The only thing I have not yet done is the account reset because this says I will have to reset my phone to factory settings and I don't want to lose everything I have on it at this point.

Jul 31, 2010When I first setup my Incredible, I signed on to Gmail. Whenever I receive an e-mail, I get two, one Gmail and one HTC. I dragged the HTC mail widget to the recycle bin. Than I went to manage applications and forced stop the HTC mail. This works until I power off the phone. Each time I boot it back up, I need to go to applications and choose forced stop. It is a small pain but still a pain. One is this happening to anyone else and second does anyone have a solution?

Jun 10, 2010Is there any app that lets you set an alarm to go off when you get a notification (such as an e-mail or text). I don't get many text at night, so those that I do I would like to see. An alarm isn't necessarily what I need, but I need something to notify me more that once. This is the one thing I miss from my RAZR.

Nov 18, 2009My wife sent an email to her work email. It did not arrive and now she keeps getting a "unable to send mail (hotmail)" notification. And it wont stop. She gets the notification every 5 min or so. I deleted the outgoing message but that didn't fix it. I turned notifications off and then then on and that didn't fix it.

Nov 14, 2010Just set my wife up with the new yahoo mail app that came out last week. Very nice that it pushes now. I can't, however, get it to make any notification sounds. She has Zedge for downloading ringtones and notification sounds and her general notification sound is set as a sound from Zedge at this time. Will yahoo only use stock sounds so it doesn't play anything? I do have the box checked to use notification sounds and vibrate in the setting.

If I click on mail and open it up I go to menu Button>more>settings>notifications but all I can do is either turn the notification on or off. I can't set an individual sound for each email acct.

Nov 18, 2009I have a question regarding the mail feature of the Droid. I have three accounts setup. One Gmail, one Yahoo and one Hotmail (yep...I like all flavors).
I can send and receive mail without issue but for some reason with the Yahoo and the Hotmail account, the Droid will seem to pull "old" email back onto the device and mark it as new and light up the indicator. This gives then shows that I have new mail but it really isn't new but it is old, previously read email that has been deleted and pulled back onto the device.

Nov 21, 2009i have a Gmail account setup with a pop account tied to my Gmail. on my phone I only have the Gmail account. It does show an @ sign when i get pop mail via Gmail however it doesn't show up as a number on the mail icon. only when i get a true Gmail email does it show up as a number on the icon. once i go into mail and preview the email (pop) it will show as a number on the icon. any ideas?

May 21, 2010I'm pretty sure I saw a thread about this before, but couldn't find it once I actually needed it. Anyways, I'm having trouble with getting my notification for my email to go away. It's not a problem with gmail, but the mail app. The notification disappears from the notification bar once I check my email, but the "1" stays in the icon for the mail app even after I've deleted it. I've checked all my folders, inbox, drafts, sent, etc. and there's nothing in any of them. Any fixing?

Problem is, I don't want to receive these at 3 in the morninig, nor do I want to turn off my sounds in case of a call or TXT that *is* important.
Any way to tell the Droid exactly when I want it to check facebook and e-mail? Old LG 10000 allowed you to set the times it checked for e-mail.

Aug 26, 2010I bought a SAMSUNG Galaxy phone and had set up my official mail (yahoo business mail) under E-Mail settings. And I was receiving mails for a week. Now for the last 3 days, no mails are downlaoding and when I click Email, it only shows 'Load More Messages', but on clicking nothing happens. I am think of resetting it, but dont know how to do it. I tried holding the Email and drag it to the Trash, it moves to trash, but reappears. I tried to delete the Yahoo Biz Mail credentials I had given, so as to recreate, but after clearing each field, there is no way you can save it.
