Aug 12, 2010Why is my phone constantly giving this vocal notification out? It is constantly searching for a signal? It happens about once an hour, and I'm guessing it's the source of my battery drain issues the last day or 2.

Nov 8, 2009I bought my Droid on line via Phandroid/Verizon Wireless just after midnight on Friday and filled out all the info, picked a Verizon plan, gave them my current cell number (which is an AT&T Mobile number) and checked the boxes that said "yes, please port my old number on to my new Verizon phone".
So I get the phone today (superfast -- I hadn't even paid for overnight delivery). But when I follow the instructions to activate, the activation fails. I touch the Droid on the touchscreen, it brings up the phone, I follow the voice prompts and dial my cell number, but it doesn't work.
Spoke with a VW customer service rep (late night Saturday night). He gave me a different customer service # to call on Sunday for help with "porting."
I sure hope I get this straightened out quickly. Maybe I should've just bought the Droid at a Verizon store and let the VW store guys activate it for me.
The VW customer service rep was saying I should see a "temporary Verizon cell #" somewhere on my receipt or packing slip. But there isn't any. Just the mobile # that I'm trying to port over from AT&T.
Did I do something wrong when I ordered the phone? Or is it normal for there to be a delay in getting the old # ported?

Oct 15, 2010i just bought the official extended battery for the Droid x off of the verizon online store. the battery worked fine for the first day i bought it and now it makes my phone randomly shut off when i am using it. i can use my phone for about 5 - 10 minutes before the battery causes it to shut off randomly. i have no idea why it does this because it says the battery is fully charged and i had it in the charger over night and it still does this. i feel like i have wasted 50$ on this battery and i cant even use it now. does any one know if there is a way i can fix this?

Feb 13, 2010so how do i get this app to work. I just rooted with the sholes mod updater rom. I plugged my phone into the computer with the USB cord and selected mount and ran the app and hit the big green wifi icon to connect. What else do i need to do? or if anyone has got links to how to get this app to work that would be great too. Oh and also when i connect the USB cord, on the notification bar and triangle with an (!) mark shows up and talks about some debugging stuff. Cannot get wireless tether to work anymore. It gets superuser permissions, My laptop detects the network, it connects to it, but I cannot load any pages and nothing is being sent up and down except for 3-4 kb.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, resets, etc. My root seems to be fine.

Jul 26, 2010Has anyone else noticed that when they turn WiFi on through the widget (either android or motorola one) it doesn't always actually turn on wireless?
I usually have to go to WiFi settings and then once I do that it connects to my router. This will keep happening until I restart the phone and then the widget will work another 1-2 times and then I'll have to go into the settings menu until I restart again.
Unrelated: Has anyone else had their 3G dropout today or is it just me? I'm in the northeast.

Situation: I use an iRiver S10 MP3 player (2GB) when riding. Normally if Im going on a long ride (a few days) I will need to take my notebook along if I want to change songs on the player.
So, what Im trying to work out is this. Is there a way to transfer MP3s from my Desire's SD card to the S10 via USB (maybe using a USB Data Transfer cable and the required adaptors?).
Any ideas/suggestions? Could it be possible?

Nov 10, 2009For some strange reason I can't seem to set-up my personal e-mail account on this Droid phone. I click on "e-mail", I type in my e-mail address and my password, and then I click "next". And then I get a message that says my username and/or password does not match. But I am positive it does, as I have gone online to test it. I have tried retyping my username and passwrod over and over again without any success. I can't get passed that screen.
I have Verizon FiOS at my house, so my e-mail is set-up through Verizon/Yahoo.

Oct 4, 2010I rooted my Samsung Fascinate. Installed Titanium Backup and managed to uninstall some bloatware.
I would like to remove the text "Verizon Wireless" from my pattern lock screen and replace it with my name.
When I rooted my HTC Eris and loaded KoasFroyo I encountered a similar situation where that ROM made it say Team AndIRC. I was able to do what I wanted by replacing eri.xml.
When I try to use ADB to push that same eri.xml file to my Fascinate I get an access denied error. Can anyone tell me how to do this? Any guidance would be appreciated. Since the phone is locked I want my name available on the front in case it is ever lost.
