Has anyone noticed that there are lots of apps that are autostarting with the new froyo update. I have to constantly open Advanced task Killer to kill these apps. Things like, skype, google search, and contacts for example. Any way to keep these from autostarting every 5 seconds... its like they start immediately after I kill them.

I've noticed the GPS icon at the top of the screen even when I'm not in a GPS app. It's definitely affecting my battery life. I've rebooted the phone a few times. I used Google Maps last night, but closed it before I went to bed. This morning my battery was really low and the GPS icon was still sitting there. My wife noticed a similar occurrence of GPS running more than expected on her Droid X as well.

Is there a way to add apps to the extra spaces on the car dock on 2.2? I've tried long-pressing the open space but nothing happens and the menu doesn't allow this either. It seems a waste of space if we can't.
Does anyone know if extra apps can be added to the empty squares in the new car dock, and if so how?
View 18 Replies View RelatedI couldn't wait for the OTA, so i manually updated from the droid life site. now that i am running 2.2 my phone is so slow its almost impossible to use. whenever i put the phone in standby then start up the phone to do something, it takes approx 10 seconds to repopulate the home screen and approx 20 seconds before i can swipe to a different home screen.
I am obviously not rooted, i do run live wallpaper and only have 2 widgets (beautiful home and calendar) phone ran great on 2.1
Had the dX for about a month now, still running the stock 2.1 OS and have not upgraded to froyo yet, i played with a friends phone with 2.2 OTA but he has had some issues with the phone since OTA and i am concerned about upgrading with the whole bootloader deal and not being able to do what i want with the phone. currently with the dX i have it rooted with universal androot with recovery and thats about it.
I am new to the dX and i have been reading alot, but i have a few questions because there doesnt seem to be a clear answer anyhwere on what the best route to go is. i am coming from a rooted custom rom'd and OC'd eris so i am familiar with the processes and how to modify android.
Here is what i am looking to do
Froyo
root
overclock
recovery
custom rom/theme
remove bloatware
deodex
From what i have read i have 2 options, 2.2 leak and OTA
Is there is a leaked 2.3.15 and is that the best option over the OTA ?
What does the OTA offer that the leak doesnt and vice versa
I guess once i figure out what version of 2.2 to go with i can take the rest from there. i have been looking at the team black hat app is this a good idea ?

Also, after coming from sense i hate the moto dialer, personally think its terrible no easy way to just call someone wiht out dialing a million things, is there options for a custom dialer like the sense dialer ?
Ever since I upgraded to the non-official Froyo, I've been experiencing problems trying to get the two to work together. If I'm on hte Pandora screen with the Nav running in background, the song will pause when directions are given (audio priority to Nav) and will not play again until I hit play (note that the song is actually paused in pandora and not just temporarily muted by the Android OS) If I'm on the Nav screen (with Pandora running in background) the song will stop playing when directions are given, and when I hit home to get back to Pandora, I find that it had been terminated completely and I have to restart it.

Why did Android design it that way? HOW to SHUT them off totally - that's the question. I have Skype, Wether, Contacts, Social app (Face book), Calendar, Sync Service, Google Messaging Service, and many more running ALL the time. And there are apps in my Tray, that are factory set, which I'll never use. How can I Delete them.

i have never got everything working quite right with this rom and would like to go back to stock (once its 2.2 anyway) and not have to worry about the hassle.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI understand that certain apps need to run in the back ground in order to work and others run so that they are easily accessible. Is it possible to pick and choose which apps run in the back ground so I can keep my phone running smoothly. I have used task killer apps but, they are just not the right solution as most apps will just restart them selfs.
My main problem is the fact that I have to many apps installed on the phone and as the app store grows and I keep reading this forum it only gets worse. My phone actually got to an unresponsive state so that every time I picked it up there is a serious lag. I fixed this by deleting unnecessary apps that aren't used daily or weekly. The problem is I liked these apps and want the ability to be able to use them in a pinch but I don't want them running all of the time.
Problem since Froyo update? Have you had MAJOR problems?

It supposedly finishes and after it reboots I get stuck @ the Motorola "M" screen indefinitely. After that it wouldn't start up @ all and wouldn't respond to anything. So I rooted my droid about 2 months ago. I have Bugless Beast V0.4 and I used SPRecovery. No joke, but as soon as I rooted, I got the official Froyo update from VZW. I clicked on install and it took me to recovery mode ( i think that's what it's called) and I just clicked on "reboot now" and my phone stayed rooted. Now I'm getting the Froyo update message about once a week (since then) and each time I just "reboot" the phone. Well today I got a text from VZW saying that my droid was sent the Android 2.2 update and to click for more info. What do I do and/or how do I stop the updates from coming? I love the way my droid is right now and do not want to change it.!

I've heard mixed reviews about whether or not I can upgrade when the update comes out to Froyo or if I have to set my phone back to root. I used the easy root tool to root my phone but if I need to put it back is there an easy unroot program? Or do I not need to worry about the rooting.
