Sep 22, 2010I've never modded/rooted my Droid X, right. I do the manual update Settings - About - Update or whatever and it updates. It supposedly finishes and after it reboots I get stuck @ the Motorola "M" screen indefinitely. After that it wouldn't start up @ all and wouldn't respond to anything. So now I'm attempting an SBF root. Is this the right thing to do?

Motorola Droid :: Froyo Update On Rooted?
Sep 14, 2010So I rooted my droid about 2 months ago. I have Bugless Beast V0.4 and I used SPRecovery. No joke, but as soon as I rooted, I got the official Froyo update from VZW. I clicked on install and it took me to recovery mode ( i think that's what it's called) and I just clicked on "reboot now" and my phone stayed rooted. Now I'm getting the Froyo update message about once a week (since then) and each time I just "reboot" the phone. Well today I got a text from VZW saying that my droid was sent the Android 2.2 update and to click for more info. What do I do and/or how do I stop the updates from coming? I love the way my droid is right now and do not want to change it.!

I used to have my droid rooted to droidmod I think, I started having some problems (this was months ago so I'm sure everything was fixed) and I unrooted and went back to stock 2.0.1 and then used the ota to update to 2.1. So I am waiting on froyo and I was just wondering if I update and don't like it will I be able to flash back to 2.0.1.

When i connect the droid to my computer so i can drag the update into the root folder of the phone, the computer never reads the phone. Aug 18, 2010A few days ago I woke up really excited to get my Froyo update. The first day I had it I had an error that kept occurring because of the htc keyboard I had previously been using. After restoring the keyboard to stock that problem went away, but the biggest problem of all took the forefront. I can't go more than 5 hours without needing to charge my phone. Before the update I usually charged my phone daily because I am a relatively heavy user. After the update, I am not using my phone any more than before. Today I charged my phone 3 times. Some people have said it is the facebook app, but I uninstalled the latest updates. I have noticed many of my programs are opening up in the background on their own.

Sep 14, 2010It may seem crazy, but I have an app that I use for business purposes (ustream). They do not support 2.2. I emailed them and they quickly responded with grim news. Basically, they don't know if/when they will support Froyo. Qik vid doesn't do what I need it to do. Also, I hear there are many other apps that won't work with froyo. As good a an improvement Froyo is, it prevents me from doing what I do. Any way to prevent update and update reminders?

I used Google Maps last night, but closed it before I went to bed. This morning my battery was really low and the GPS icon was still sitting there. My wife noticed a similar occurrence of GPS running more than expected on her Droid X as well.

Jul 30, 2010If anyone gets the update as a test user, post the update.zip here in a mediafire, etc., link. Hit install later and save to SD card, then mount the phone to the computer and move to your computer then upload to a file hosting site of choice. We wont have to wait for it to "roll out" by this method. Once downloaded from said link, and saved to your computer, move to root of SD card, boot into recovery and install update.zip.

Motorola Droid X :: Stuck On Screen After Froyo Update
Sep 22, 2010Recieved the Froyo update last night. Hit install, every thing went well up untill the reboot. Stuck on Motorola screen. Took out the Battery ,, nothin still stuck on Motorola screen. Took it to Verizon they couldnt figure it out, Talked to Tech support which is really good at Verizon by the way. They were stumped. So in the end they are sending me a Brand new DX, with an extra SD card and Battery. Not a refurb. So I feel lucky at best.

Motorola Droid :: OTA Update Aborted On My Rooted Froyo
Sep 2, 2010My phone is rooted and running 2.2 via download. Froyo is great but I have been waiting for the Flash update like everyone else.
Got the notice this morning on my phone that an OTA update was ready to install and asked if I wanted to proceed. Unit was fully charged and connected via WiFi.
Clicked "proceed" and the phone rebooted. On startup, it went to the boot screen that I used in the root process, and the bottom line said something like "upgrade aborted." Clicked reboot to get the phone usable and see what's what.
Now Settings>About Phone says Android 2.2, Build number FRG01B by Pete. The only "update.zip" file on the SD card is one from the root process. "System updates" says "Your system is currently up to date."
Looks like nothing happened.
Has rooting my phone precluded the possibility of an OTA update?
(If I had known that rooting my phone would prevent OTA updates I would not have done it.)
How can I get the OTA update to run? Where are the update files loaded? What do I do now?

Aug 6, 2010Last night, I updated my Droid to 2.2 (Verizon official) with the instructions here. Worked perfectly, and my phone hasn't had battery or slowness issues at all.
BUT, I tried making a call this morning, and all of a sudden my earpiece is silent! Plugging in headphones work, the speakerphone works so my phone is capable of making calls.
I tried to plug/unplug my headphones a few times, thinking that it was the phone thinking there were still headphones plugged in and that didn't work.
I then restarted my phone at least 6 times, including pulling the battery. Nothing thru the earpiece.
Out of frustration, I did a hard factory reset. Still no sound from the earpiece!
Do you guys think the 2.2 update killed my earpiece, or is it a coincidence?
Motorola Droid :: Installing Froyo - Stuck On Android Update
Sep 6, 2010I have a motorola droid milestone and it is my first smartphone. I followed a guide to install Froyo there. The other day and update to android started installing (supposedly from verizon) on system updates. For the last few days it has been downloading, finished downloading and then telling me the system is updated (no reboot nor anything) and then it will start to download again. I have no clue why that may be.

Only thing I did with a terminal emulator was remove a couple of applications
(visual voice mail and google search, google voice search and google earth to install them from the market as I was unable to update them).

Nov 12, 2010Fortunately, my phone is not bricked. I unrooted it by using the one-click app, downloaded and tried to install froyo but received an unkind error message. The Update failed to Install. I'm assuming I need to flash the phone back to factory? How do I go about doing this?

I've read in a few places and from a few people in person that the 2.2 froyo update was a tad buggy in small ways after the update. My question here is... Are any of you who recently bought a droid x PRELOADED with 2.2 have any problems too? Are is it primarily those who came from 2.1? I am honestly hoping to find a droid x with 2.1 so I can hold out on the update until the kinks are fixed but I was just curious if there was a difference for those who updated and those who got there's preloaded.

Aug 22, 2010Has anyone noticed that there are lots of apps that are autostarting with the new froyo update. I have to constantly open Advanced task Killer to kill these apps. Things like, skype, google search, and contacts for example. Any way to keep these from autostarting every 5 seconds... its like they start immediately after I kill them.
