I have read a bunch of different posts and after installing almost* my bloatware that I removed it still doesn't update. The only thing I am missing is corporate directly. I checked the ape bundle, and that isn't in there.

Fortunately, my phone is not bricked. I unrooted it by using the one-click app, downloaded and tried to install froyo but received an unkind error message. The Update failed to Install. I'm assuming I need to flash the phone back to factory? How do I go about doing this?
View 19 Replies View RelatedI've been playing around with the new releases of Froyo 2.2. It appears that sweeter home is not compatible with the new 2.2. Man! i have emailed the dev the bug reports. I am hoping that a new release will be coming very soon. Hopefully we can get some kind of the eta on the new release. And just when sweeterhome was virtually bug free!

I am not looking to root 2.2. All i want to do is get 2.2 OTA from verizon. I keep getting Failed to Update. I unfroze all the bloatware. what else do i need to do? right now i am trying to unroot using that one click program and that isnt working either.

After about a third of the way into it an "!" icon appeared and the phone instantly rebooted. Upon reboot i got a message saying System update failed!I'm running 2.1 rooted - but all bloatware etc i've kept. Also running LP. Do i need to unroot before updating? I haven't read anything that says I need to.

I have a rooted and themed DX, so I tried to even rename the facebook.apk to a backup, then install fresh from the market. The installation still fails.

It supposedly finishes and after it reboots I get stuck @ the Motorola "M" screen indefinitely. After that it wouldn't start up @ all and wouldn't respond to anything. So now I'm attempting an SBF root. Is this the right thing to do?

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I rooted my droid about 2 months ago. I have Bugless Beast V0.4 and I used SPRecovery. No joke, but as soon as I rooted, I got the official Froyo update from VZW. I clicked on install and it took me to recovery mode ( i think that's what it's called) and I just clicked on "reboot now" and my phone stayed rooted. Now I'm getting the Froyo update message about once a week (since then) and each time I just "reboot" the phone. Well today I got a text from VZW saying that my droid was sent the Android 2.2 update and to click for more info. What do I do and/or how do I stop the updates from coming? I love the way my droid is right now and do not want to change it.!

I've heard mixed reviews about whether or not I can upgrade when the update comes out to Froyo or if I have to set my phone back to root. I used the easy root tool to root my phone but if I need to put it back is there an easy unroot program? Or do I not need to worry about the rooting.

I used to have my droid rooted to droidmod I think, I started having some problems (this was months ago so I'm sure everything was fixed) and I unrooted and went back to stock 2.0.1 and then used the ota to update to 2.1. So I am waiting on froyo and I was just wondering if I update and don't like it will I be able to flash back to 2.0.1.

When i connect the droid to my computer so i can drag the update into the root folder of the phone, the computer never reads the phone. The first day I had it I had an error that kept occurring because of the htc keyboard I had previously been using. After restoring the keyboard to stock that problem went away, but the biggest problem of all took the forefront. I can't go more than 5 hours without needing to charge my phone. Before the update I usually charged my phone daily because I am a relatively heavy user. After the update, I am not using my phone any more than before. Today I charged my phone 3 times. Some people have said it is the facebook app, but I uninstalled the latest updates. I have noticed many of my programs are opening up in the background on their own.
View 47 Replies View RelatedIt may seem crazy, but I have an app that I use for business purposes (ustream). They do not support 2.2. I emailed them and they quickly responded with grim news. Basically, they don't know if/when they will support Froyo. Qik vid doesn't do what I need it to do. Also, I hear there are many other apps that won't work with froyo. As good a an improvement Froyo is, it prevents me from doing what I do. Any way to prevent update and update reminders?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've noticed the GPS icon at the top of the screen even when I'm not in a GPS app. It's definitely affecting my battery life. I've rebooted the phone a few times. I used Google Maps last night, but closed it before I went to bed. This morning my battery was really low and the GPS icon was still sitting there. My wife noticed a similar occurrence of GPS running more than expected on her Droid X as well.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIf anyone gets the update as a test user, post the update.zip here in a mediafire, etc., link. Hit install later and save to SD card, then mount the phone to the computer and move to your computer then upload to a file hosting site of choice. We wont have to wait for it to "roll out" by this method. Once downloaded from said link, and saved to your computer, move to root of SD card, boot into recovery and install update.zip.

Recieved the Froyo update last night. Hit install, every thing went well up untill the reboot. Stuck on Motorola screen. Took out the Battery ,, nothin still stuck on Motorola screen. Took it to Verizon they couldnt figure it out, Talked to Tech support which is really good at Verizon by the way. They were stumped. So in the end they are sending me a Brand new DX, with an extra SD card and Battery. Not a refurb. So I feel lucky at best.

My phone is rooted and running 2.2 via download. Froyo is great but I have been waiting for the Flash update like everyone else.
Got the notice this morning on my phone that an OTA update was ready to install and asked if I wanted to proceed. Unit was fully charged and connected via WiFi.
Clicked "proceed" and the phone rebooted. On startup, it went to the boot screen that I used in the root process, and the bottom line said something like "upgrade aborted." Clicked reboot to get the phone usable and see what's what.
Now Settings>About Phone says Android 2.2, Build number FRG01B by Pete. The only "update.zip" file on the SD card is one from the root process. "System updates" says "Your system is currently up to date."
Looks like nothing happened.
Has rooting my phone precluded the possibility of an OTA update?
(If I had known that rooting my phone would prevent OTA updates I would not have done it.)
How can I get the OTA update to run? Where are the update files loaded? What do I do now?
Ive had my Droid since December. Every update that I have received has been ota. I have been waiting around constantly checking my about phone in settings, yet still no update.
