Motorola Droid : Spanish Snooze / Dismiss Buttons
Apr 28, 2010
Ok, so here's an odd one. Prior to my upgrade to 2.1 on my Droid I had this same issue. When my alarm goes off, the snooze/dismiss buttons are in spanish. As you can probably tell by now, I'm not writing in Spanish - so, that's not how it's supposed to be Nothing else in my phone does this.

I've had my rooted moment (radioactive froyo w launcherpro) for about a week now and I am having serious problems with the alarm. Specifically, the snooze/dismiss box isn't popping up, or perhaps the screen isn't waking up at all. It happens almost every morning. frequently when I am staying at my partners house and waking up in the wee hours the thing will go off, I bolt up and am swiping, pressing side buttons (they were set to dismiss in alarm settings), trying to smother the whole phone with my hands, etc. More than once I've had to do a battery pull in desperation as she yells at me that people are trying to sleep. The alarm pops up as normal if I do a test alarm set a minute in the future. Unfortunately it is a quite difficult to remember what exactly happens to me at any given 6am. Is it possible I'm not having this problem in my tests bc the alarm is still loaded in ram? What's the deal here? I need a working alarm.

I like to snooze for longer than 5 minutes. I have not found a way to adjust the snooze time. Is it possible on the DroidX? If not, can anyone recommend a good alarm clock app that has this feature?

Ever since I updated to Froyo I've had trouble dismissing the soft keyboard by swiping down - frequently getting two additional characters typed (the one where the swipe started and the one where my finger left the screen) instead of dismissing the keyboard.
I know I can hit the back button to dismiss the keyboard, but is anyone else having this problem, and is there a fix?

I tried several alarm clocks on my droid, and they all seem to have a problem. if I set alarms for 6:30, 6:41, and 6:52 am. Each with a different sound. If i snooze alarm 1, alarm 2/3 never goes off. i thought all 3 would be seperate, but it seems only 1 can be active at a time. unless im doing something wrong. this happens on the default alarm clock and, better alarm clock.

Is it possible to have two keyboards? Kind of like the iPhone one in English and one in Spanish and you click a key to change the language?

2.1 seems to have changed the way reminders are presented. Back on 1.5 if I had a reminder set at 30 minutes it would chirp and place an indicator in the notification curtain where I could dismiss the reminder with one swipe. Now with 2.1 I'm getting repeatedly notified every 5 minutes until the appointment starts and there is no noticeable way to make it stop. I swear I saw a setting for that somewhere but I'll be darned if if I can find it again.

Does anyone know how to change the sound that gets played when a Facebook update arrives in the Android notification dock? In Menu -> Settings -> Sound and Display -> Notification Sound the option is set to "subtle" which I really like. I have the volume for notifications set to be relatively low, so if I'm sleeping it doesn't wake me up because it's so low and it's such a short tone.
Last night however, I got some spam friend request on Facebook. Unfortunately it was like 1am and I woke up to hear some Spanish style/flamenco type music playing. After a few seconds I found out that it was my phone, and the Facebook app was notifying me of a new friend request.
Does anyone know how to change this sound? I don't see any option in the Sound and Display menu, and I also tried going into the Accounts & sync menu but I don't see anything in there either except whether or not the phone syncs with Facebook and how often. There is no setting for notification sound.
This is really odd -- it seems like a new friend request is the only Facebook notification that even arrives in the notification bar...maybe other stuff arrives too but I just haven't received them yet? In any case, there must be an option somewhere to change or disable this music.
Anyone else experienced what I'm talking about? Do you know how to change it? I really don't want to wake up even more during the night than I already do. My son already keeps me up enough at night...

Except, of course, for one small detail.I'm bilingual, and a lover of Latina women (more info than you needed to know, I know!), so I am constantly switching back and forth between sending texts in English and in Spanish. Is there a way for my phone to recognize words in both English and Spanish? As it stands now, I'm having a hell of a time sending Spanish texts because it keeps suggesting words in English.

Is there a way to customize the four main buttons? I noticed that Back long-press and Menu long-press are not set to do anything. Seems like a waste and I would like to make use of those.

I've read around that the Apple headphones with the microphone do not work with the X. But all the threads I've read that from are from a while ago. What I've learned is that apparently other headphones with mics will work but these will not pickup your voice through the mic, and the volume and click buttons will not work. My question to you is, did anybody get these headphones to work with the mic and buttons? How did you get it to work? It seems to me that it is a software issue because other headphones will work, so has anybody configured there phone in a way to make it happen?

Is anyone else just hating the hardware buttons for Menu, Home, Back, and Search? I can barely one-hand with the touch screen as it is, but the hardware buttons are making me change my whole hand position to press them. Plus, the cover I have on it comes right up next to them, making them even more difficult to press.
I kind of wish they were Droid-esque touch buttons instead.

I have had a bunch of problems with my droid keyboards. What is happening is that the corner of the keyboard buttons will bend up - it then gets caught on my cover, or on the phone as it slides. I originally had the problem with the lower left hand corner of the I button, I replaced the phone and got a 'certified like new' phone from verizon. Now the lower left hand corner of my R button is starting to have the same problem. If I move my finger over the board, the corner will actually poke my finger. What gives? Is anyone else having this problem? I am very careful with the phone and don't do anything unusual. I wonder if I am dragging my fingers as I message, etc.

The "Menu", "Back" and "Search" buttons are not working for some reason? The "Home" button is the only one that works. I'm talking about the hard buttons on the bottom of the phone. This started today. Tried removing the battery and restarting the phone and that didn't seem to work either. Now Droid X not booting at all. Just stays on the "M" and nothing happens. Tried the Power button with home key press to get to recovery and nothing.

Anyone found out how you can dim the 4 buttons when your droid is in media dock? I know that they are controlled by the light sensor, and light up when in darkness. Anyway to stop the light sensor? I have tried the brightness, it is set at none, still the little 4 buttons light up as soon as it gets dark. Dim the screen and still can read by the buttons. Why have a dimmer that only dims the screen?

How do you guys like the physical buttons vs. the soft buttons (glass) on other phones? I've got an Incredible that I really like, but I'm having two issues that I'm not liking. Call quality and battery life. I looked at the Droid X and really didn't like the physical buttons. How many of you were disappointed by the physical buttons but have found them to be OK after using them?

So far so great with the new Droid X!! I have not had any of the lag problems or battery life issues that I have seen posted. My X is fast and smooth, I love it so far. Having said that, I can see a potential problem with the physical buttons on the device. When I first started using the X, the buttons were tight and had a crisp feel when pressed.
Now after 1 day of use, the" back" button is getting loose and is not nearly as crisp as it was. I don't think it will last much longer. I wish there was a way to back out of a screen or app via a screen button as opposed to the physical one. If anyone knows a way to avoid using the physical button to go back a web screen, please let me know. Other than that, this thing rules.

The buttons at the bottom of the phone (not the hard-press buttons, but the lower row of touch-screen buttons -- dialer, open app list, and contacts), are non-responsive.
Everything else seems to be working okay. Tried powering off/up, also tried battery pull, still the same.
I'm close to opting for "restore factory settings", but I've spent some time customizing, and that's really a last resort.
