Is there a way to customize the four main buttons? I noticed that Back long-press and Menu long-press are not set to do anything. Seems like a waste and I would like to make use of those.

A question for all you Sprint HTC Hero owners: can you customize the main screen (homepage?) on your phone? I know you can customize and add pages of icons but can any of those become the default page your phone powers up to? I'd want to remove the HTC Date-Clock-Weather banner and just have a plain wallpaper-type screen with a couple icons on it .
View 5 Replies View RelatedI would like to have a layout with 5 times 5 buttons. Each of them should have the same width and height (they should be square). And I want the whole matrix to use the screen width (or height, depending on rotation).
I currently do it "by hand" in the Java code:
CODE:...........
This can be improved by obtaining screen width first and then dividing by 5 to get rid of this literal 60. But I'm wondering how I can do this in the res/layout XML file? How can I specify for the height to be the same as the width? (I can set the width to match_parent.)
I have a tab 2 10.1 with the latest software from Rogers in Canada.My problem is, my daughter is 16 months and loves to play games on it but "ALWAYS" hits the back button or home button or the advertisments etc.Then it kicks her out of the games, it is very fruastrating as I am a Android fan, but I see IPADs that when in kid mode, the kid "CANNOT" get out of the games.
Is there a APP, or mode I am missing, I have tried 2 different APPs and both SUCK and allow her to still get to Home screen or hit advertisments or freeze the games.
I purchased these mainly for my kids and wife and am starting to hate them for very poor usability features that IPADs do not have problems with? And I have used IPAD's and really really hate APPLE's software.
I have looked everywhere in the forums and although I know it is in here I can't seem to find the answer to this question. How do I change the home buttons at the bottom of the main screen? I have switched to k9 mail and would like to replace the stock email icon there.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis is difficult for me to diagnose because the Log doesn't provide the offending code line that indicates what caused it.Running the app in the Emulator seems to work OK until I press Home or Back from the Main Activity. Using Back between the activities in the program seems to work OK, it only fails at the Main. I don't have the app finished yet so I haven't loaded it to a device yet.The Log says there was a null pointer exception so I would like to find why.The log points to the android routines (and I don't appear to have the source for those routines in the emulator-most but not all and these are refering to those I can't access). The log gives up at one point and says "11 more".It would be nice to see the remaining 11 in the hopes that one of them points to the line in my code that caused the offense.I'm looking for ideas on ways to find the error and hopefully cure it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo when i either put my droid in my car mount or i press the "car/home" app, my phone goes into car mode. here i have 2 screens to choose from. the first screen has 6 buttons all with applications in them, the second screen has 6 buttons but only 3 have applications in them. question is, is there a way to customize the other 3 buttons and pit an application in them or am i stuck staring at 3 empty buttons forever?

Anybody know how to customize the LED light settings? I've managed to change the indicator light color for handcent sms, but I've had no luck digging through the menus for any other options. It seems that the light is capable of multiple colors. I'm thinking a cycle when the phone rings would be pretty cool. Any ideas?

Im running Pete's virgin deodexed version with Chevy's Low voltage kernel. I have the main setcpu profile set to 900 mhz on the minimum and maximum side, with the performance governor. That works fine and I also have profiles enabled. The profiles work great too. The problem is that when switching from a custom profile back to the main profile, the governor ALWAYS sets to ondemand, and then I have to manually set it to performance where it stays until another profile becomes effective.

I have looked into the profiles but I find it a bit confusing. If you set your minimum for the main screen to 500 on demand, none of the profiles when enabled will be able to go below this?
What profiles do you use and why if you don't mind me asking?
Charging Full (If it is charging why do I care if it moves from 500?)
Charging AC/Full (waste of time, don't understand the diff/between above)
Charging USB/Full (same as above)
Screen Off (set to my min clock speed?)
Battery (issue or non issue? I don't want to have my performance knocked back when I drop below 50%)
Temp (should I be worried? and at what temp?)
Can you just use some of those and they will combine with the max/min settings on the main screen?
What are my advantages and disadvantages?
Am I wasting battery jumping between 500/900? Should the values be closer?
When I have the phone on "On Demand" no matter what setting it is a bit leggy when I restart the phone (even if it is set to 900/900). When I set it to performance 900/900 it snaps right into place. "On demand" and turning on the phone is the only place I ever really notice a lag.
