Motorola Droid :: Just Got 20% Off InvisibleSHIELD For Droid
Nov 17, 2009
I used the invisibleSHIELD on my Palm Pre for months and thought it was awesome. You do have to TAKE YOUR TIME when applying it.In all that time, I never scratched it and it never peeled off. Worked great with the touch screen as well.Well, I had to switch to verizon last week so, I purchased the droid. (AMAZING PHONE BTW)I just ordered a new shield at (commission site link removed by Mod)They started to offer 20% off as of today.

I had an InvisibleSHIELD for my old Blackberry and I loved it for its durability. I was thinking about putting one on my new Sprint HTC Hero, but I remember it having kind of a tacky, gummy, sticky feel to it...kind of resistant to sliding your finger over it smoothly. That doesn't matter to me whatsoever when I'm not using a touch screen, but has anyone used one on a Hero? I don't want to buy one and find out it makes my phone harder to use.Specifically, I've just gotten pretty good at using SlideIT (wish I could try Swype), and I have a feeling that with an InvisibleSHIELD it will be much harder to accurately move my finger to the right spots on the screen at the right times. Has anyone had any experience with this?

I'm upgrading from my Droid 1 to the Droid X tomorrow and would like to start my use of the DX with it's new 32gb card in place of my old 16gb card from my Droid 1 but need to know if there's anything required to copy from my droid 1 16gb card to my new DX 32 gb card that would be required or helpful in the DX use.I will obviously transfer music/vids/pics but are there any essential files, apps, etc. that are needed.Or is it a good idea to use my paid MyBackupPro to copy the old Droid 1 apps/data for use in the DX larger memory card or is this not copatible to perform between the 2 devices?

They are at the final battle. It looks like we might have a fight on our hands since the Palm Pre just got the free hot-spot options from Verizon. March Smart Phone Madness Finals: Motorola Droid vs. Palm Pre Plus
The main points that I like to enjoy is: Droid beat out the phone that beat the iPhone, and the Droid got further in the brackets than any other Android OS phone Some of the progress is due to hardware, some due to following (over the Nexus'), but a lot due to the v2.01 (and now 2.1) version of the Android OS. Also, this poll is open ALL weekend - it does not close until April 5th, so we have tons of time...but then again, so does the Palm Pre. Let's have at 'em!

I have the original droid with 2.1 (still haven't got update) the phone has some problems like, restarting, cant update certain apps, unresponsive. i just got the phone in may 2010 an im starting to think its getting out dated. I once had it rooted to 2.2 but went back to stock for OTA 2.2 . But my question is, that do u think i can call verizon and tell them my problems, say its my 3rd droid and im getting tired of it. Since there not making the oringinal droid anymore do u think they'll let me upgrade to Droid X with little or no fee? i got the idea from another post, reading that someone had success with this trick?

Has anyone seen the Saygus VPhone? If it releases soon I would really like to take my Droid back and get this phone. I don't care that it is kind of blocky as long as it has Android 2.0 or higher (including Google Maps Navigation). Seriously, the keyboard on it kicks the (edited by mod) out of the Droid. The keyboard on the Droid has been causing me serious grief because I do not like typing on the virtual keyboards and the physical keyboard is so flat and requires so much pressure to press one of the keys that it cramps my thumb up with any moderate usage. Has anyone heard anything at all about a release date?

Unlike our US counterpart (Motorola Droid) the European Motorola Milestone/ users are not currently given any updates at all. The update server does not respond, as such we are stuck with 2.0 and with well known documented problems. Some of which make the device not usable.

Have you seen this? I wonder if this will actually come true:
Motorola Droid X May Already Be Replacing HTC Droid Incredible
According to an unconfirmed report, Verizon is now allowing customers who are getting impatient waiting for their Droid Incredible to be delivered to switch their pre-order to a Droid X.
After the Motorola model launches, the HTC one is supposedly going to be discontinued.

I dont know if this should be in the Accessories or not but here we go.Like some people I orginally had the Droid 1 and Verizon upgraded me to the Droid 2 for a warranty replacement. The multimedia station works great but as everyone knows the car mount does not work. Does anyone know if there is a way to modify the Droid 1 car mount to work with the Droid 2 or if there is a way to buy just the new "face plate" on the car mount for the Droid 2 since they do look similar and it appears that they are the same car mount with just a different "face plate" that attaches to the phone.

I currently have a rooted Droid 1 and it runs just fine at 1.2 ghz with Bugless Beast. However, I am starting to get anxious for a new phone and my upgrade will be ready in early December.I have been doing a little research and have not found anything that seems to be miles ahead of the droid x in the near future. I want the best phone on the market and as of right now I feel that is the droid x (sorry iphone). Would you guys say it is worth it to use my upgrade now and get the X or does anyone have an estimate as to when the next big thing will be coming? (I prefer a droid phone however the rumors of samsung's 2 ghz phone seem promising).

I've been messing around with my phone for quite sometime and I've reached a road block that I can't quite figure out. I've previously and successfully put JRummy, Cyanogen and Bugless Beast on my phone, but suddenly out of nowhere, NOTHING works. I'm attempting to put a custom ROM on my phone and I've had little to no success. These are the steps I've taken:
Start at stock 2.1
Apply ESE81_SPRecovery with RSD Lite 4.6 (Proper drivers installed)
Phone boots successfully and I can boot into SPR successfully
Move custom ROM onto SD card named as "update.zip" (not update.zip.zip)
Reboot into recovery
Wipe data & cache 3x
Go to Install and Allow update.zip
Install update.zip (UD7 specifically -- not a corrupted download as I've downloaded several times from different locations. I've also tried several different ROMs)
Install is successful
Reboot and I get stuck at the Motorola M
I wait 10 - 20 minutes and no boot screen
Pull battery, wipe data & cache again, reboot
Same issue with Motorola M
I've tried literally everything and Cyanogen, Liquid, Bugless Beast, UD7, and numerous other custom ROMs all have this same issue. I've tried wiping my SD card completely clean.I had momentary success when I flashed back to stock 2.0.1 sbf with RSD Lite, installed SPR, then applied Liquid custom ROM but I felt daring and tried to do the same process but with UD7 and it won't load. Since then, nothing has worked.I've tried this same process on two different computers with different versions of RSD Lite (4.6 and 4.7), different sbf files, different ROMs and tried using SPR and Clockwork (With ROM Manager Premium and different versions of Clockwork). However, none of this has worked. When these processes don't end up working I have to reflash the stock 2.1 sbf with RSD Lite because restore won't work either.

From BGR after the Motorola Press Conference at CES..All Motorola Android handsets, including the CLIQ, will be updated to Android 2.1.Motorola is working on Flash 10.1 integration, is optimized for the DROID's chipset and will be pushed out the DROID at some time in the future.Motorola DROID will receive a second maintenance update in the near future..Motorola kept is short and sweet so that is all folks!
Heres hoping for sooner rather than later. Only thing that concerns me about soon is the fact that the last statement just says maintenance update in the near future. So im kinda thinking 2.1 wont be with it on the 22nd.

Swype on the Droid X with 2.1 originally had a black keyboard with bigger keys to swype or type on. With Froyo, it's now showing as a white keyboard with smaller keys that looks look the Swype keyboard I had originally had on my Droid 1. Is this the "new" keyboard look for Swype on the Droid X or is there a way to bring back the old look before upgrading to Froyo on the Droid X? The version that is showing on the DX now is 1.64.40.9380.

Found a few threads about people having problems transferring their phonebook to their hands free kit in their automobile. Had the same problem myself - was able to connect and pair with the car kit. I was able to make and receive calls, but didn't have the phonebook.
Then yesterday, while setting in the car, I was going to re-pair the connection between the phone and car I noticed that in the Notification Bar that the car was asking permission to receive the phonebook from the phone. Opened the Notification and granted permission and clicked on always grant access (or something similar). Phonebook was then transfered. Haven't had a problem with it since...

So my beloved Droid is finally starting to show her age. Part of the touch screen has failed on the very right side of the screen as can be seen here:
The phone is still fully functional other than this and appears to be one of the better units out there (runs perfectly stably with 1.2ghz ulv kernels, gets great battery life and has a bubbly keyboard).
Having this portion of the touch screen go out does cause a few major problems though:
-Search hardware button no longer works
-Can't use notification blind in landscape view
-Can't hit backspace on portrait on-screen keyboard
-Many software buttons (like the ones in maps) can't be used in portrait
I have already visited my local VZW store and was assured they have replacement Droid 1s in stock.

More specifically, the rubber/plastic edge that runs around the keyboard the the edge of the keyboard itself (the piece without the letters).I got a tiny bit of super glue on that rubber/plastic (I'm sure it's plastic but it feels kind of rubbery) edge. I'm debating about trying to remove it (it's almost unnoticeable, except to me, meaning I'll notice it constantly ).I know acetone will remove super glue. I've heard that rubbing alcohol can too, which is why I would try it first (it's less caustic than acetone, less chance of damaging the plastic). Is this a bad idea? Also, if rubbing alcohol works, would the alcohol that's on alcohol wipes (like the screen cleaner wipes) work as well? They're both isopropyl so I don't see why it wouldn't (the concentrations may be different, that's the only thing I can think of).
