Sep 29, 2010I have CM6, but I hear the new UD 8.0 is quick and snappy. This is something I want, but don't have on CM6. Should I switch over to US 8.0?

Motorola Droid :: Can't Root For Moto Froyo 2.2 FRG22
Sep 13, 2010Yes i recently had to flash my phone back to 2.1 which i did in a flash then i waited till it did a normal update to which i though would be FRG1B but to my surprise it was FRG22. Now i installed Easy Root and tried rooting it said it worked but it didn't so then i tried Universalandriodroot and it didn't work either.Now i tried to flash back to 2.1 and then just root from there but this is were my problem happens. When i try to Flash i do the normal plug up usb and restart phone and while waiting on it to boot hold up on the D Pad and Nothing happens i did this 15 times it will not go into the menu at all.

Mar 28, 2010I did do a search, but didn't find anything. I had been running Cyanogen's latest 5.0.5.3 I had also been using Ultimate Droid 8.1.1. I had decided to flash to UD from CM. I used ROM Manager. I had been using the Helix 2 launcher with UD. I decided to try the launcher2, so I checked that. The whole process ran apparently normally. Except it did lock up at the cache backup stage at the dalvik cache backup. I had to pull the battery and re do the ROM download from ROM manager. However, when the screen pops up after all of the boot antimation cycle, and you unlock, there is an immediate launcher2 force close. I can get to nothing in the phone. I do have the entire contents of my sd card on my laptop, which has all of the backups on it, not including this latest one.Power off and hold the X key does not work, so I can't get to reboot recovery that way. Multiple power off and battery pulls did nothing. Another point is that I had been able to download UD only if I checked AdamZ's 1.0 low voltage overclock kernel. I would get ROM download error with ANY of the other kernel choices. I tried this after the ROM Manager update I found tonight. This time I checked Chevy's 1.25 low voltage, and the process seemed normal, other than the lockup during cache backup noted above. However UD had been running just fine when I had used it. S

Mar 3, 2010I know there have been a lot of things said on this forum, and others, about blackdroid good and bad. That being said we all flash different Rom's because we want to see whats new and what fits us best. I have tried Ultimate Droid 5.0 (ERE25 Base) and it is very smooth with no FC's and runs extremely fast. Please dont turn this thread into a back and forth because that was not the reason I wanted to post this. I also want to give major props to ChevyNo1 for his amazing kernel (that my phone likes woo hoo). I know we all at this point have flashed many roms but I believe this is what I will stay with until something amazing comes out (senceUI, Flash....). Props to all the Developers for their hard work and giving us the many choices we have. Motorola Droid :: NON ROOTED FRG22 Upgrade Possible?
Aug 8, 2010Let me begin by saying I am non rooted. I do not wish to root.I apoligize in advance if this is a repeat but I have yet to find an answer anywhere regarding this issue.Let me also say I am sorry in advance for my horrid ghrammer and spelling. On to the show.I have searched and scoured and burned my eyeballs trying to find a way to upgrade to FRG22. I am one of those who have been having lag and issues with my 2.2 upgrade. (it is sexy as hell though to look at and flash is ok. Not awesome of course. Fast moving video and demanding games and FLASH based video arnt the greatest, some damn choppy enough to make ur stomach turn but its a start and further than we were a month ago) Anyways back to the task at hand.I have downloaded the FRG22-Release or ODEXED version of FRG22 and wish to install it on my Droid. I have downloaded 2 zip files for this and renamed them update.zip and tried it with them in their original file names. I get the e:verification sig error and install aborted each time. I also did not have BOTH on the phone at the same time. IF i applied one I removed the other.
I noticed between these 2 they are different file sizes as well so I dont know if that has anything to do with it. I followed Tridents Instructions to get to the menu to install the update. And YES i did use the FRG22 zip files to update not the original froyo release trident has as the first post on his forced update.I would just like to know 2 things. 1.)Is it possible for NON ROOTED users to update to FRG22. and 2.) If it is and I have the correct file. Which do I use and what am I doing wrong to not make this work out for myself?

Aug 23, 2010I was just wondering what everyone's opinion is regarding the BBV0.4 and the rooted stock FRG22. I have had BBV0.4, 928 black glass theme, running @ 1.1GHz for a while now and I have no complaints. Would it be worth it to switch to the stock rooted FRG22, or wait for the devs to put out custom ROMs based on FRG22. I know they put some nice tweaks in the custom ROMs. I'm feeling the itch to switch, but I don't want to do it for no real advantages.

Aug 19, 2010I have a Rooted FRG22 droid with custom kernel. I used SPRecovery to update to the FRG22 rooted version.
I just got a system update notification for 2.2. WTF do I do? I remember hearing that the update will drain my battery (i mean, the update notification).
Why am I getting this notification? How do I make it go away?

Oct 30, 2010I switched back to Ultimate Droid 1.0.0 but not through nandroid. Just a start over. So for some reason I can install everything back except Angry Birds. I know that is really bad luck. Any app but angry birds. So I have tried all the ways I can think of. Through the market, downloaded from getjar and install through Astro, and I have put it in the system application folder through root explorer. Also tried installing through root explorer. And Angry Birds lite won't install either.

Mar 25, 2010I just flashed UD v8 last night and got into the LED hack and adjusted my settings so that when I dock it all LEDs turn off. Cool and the gang. Except now when I get an email or text message I don't get the blue or green flashing LED in the top right like normal. I actually love this cuz I can tell if I have an email/sms without powering up out of sleep mode. Granted, that isn't that big a deal, but I like my damn LED.
Anyone experiencing this or have any ideas on a fix?

Aug 8, 2010After having upgraded to Smoked Glass, I had it on my phone for no longer than 30 minutes when I was hit with a new OTA notification.
I have already downloaded the file, and it is FRG01B again. The difference, though, is that, instead of patching a ton of files on the fly during the install, which is how the old one worked, this one simply formats System and then copies the entire contents of system from the .ZIP to your phone.
Be that as it may, it looks like I *somehow* got a notification for a full ROM update from VZW.
Again, like I said, it is FRG01B - but the good news is that this is a full ROM, and for those having issues with the previous one, which makes sure you have ESE81 (2.1) installed on your phone, this one does *not*.
Theoretically, I should be able to install this over any previous version of Android - which I am about to test right now.
Motorola Droid :: Saving Numbers To Contacts (on The Fly) Moto Droid
Jun 30, 2010Every time I type in a number and then go to 'Add To Contacts' my phone NEVER saves the number. if that person calls me the correct info will show up but for me to call them is impossible... because they are not on my list. I have searched everywhere for a fix for this. All the correct display option are checked (for gmail i have EVERYTHING checked now)
This drives me absolutely insane. Ive added the same contact several times... and when i hit 'done' they don't show up. PLEASE HELP

I am thinking about getting the moto droid, and I heard that you can sign into your gmail account and sync all your contacts, but I have a question.
What if I don't want my Gmail contacts to be syncd with the device, but I want to be able to check my gmail accounts, is that possible?
The reason that I am asking is because I have numerous, like 10s of thousand contacts, and I don't want them all on the phone.
