Motorola Droid :: Rename Droid Backup Folder Will Still Recognize It In Recovery Mode?
Feb 21, 2010If i rename a android backup folder will it still recognize it in recovery mode?

If i rename a android backup folder will it still recognize it in recovery mode?
Ok i have not been able to find any answers what so ever regarding the people that can not find the backup/restore option after entering the recovery mode. I have recently rooted using the new z4root application. I get a skull and crossbones supper user app, and was wondering if that means its different than the one with the ninja icon that everyone else gets.
Anyways, When i go to make a nandroid back up, i follow the steps to the letter, but when i get to the recovery menu, my options stop after the wipe baseband data option. there is absolutely nothing else there that says anything about backup/restore option everyone seems to be screaming about. Its not there!
Now please can someone figure out a solution to this problem?
My recovery looks like as follows: Android system recovery <3e>
Use d-pad to highlight: center to select.
reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
wipe baseband data
Can you?

After you get done doing a nandroid backup, and you go in with an application like Astro, make sure there aren't any spaces in the folder name. Nandroid does not like that. Took a backup, tried a different ROM, didn't like it so went to go and restore my backup, wouldn't restore. It wouldn't get by the MD5 sum check. I just happened to notice there was a space in the name, mounted the memory card, removed the space, rebooted back into recovery and attempted to to the restore again, and success. Just a little tidbit of information I ran into first hand.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI think where I messed up was I then installed ROM Manager from the market to try to get overclocked. Before I did any searching or downloading for kernels, I tried to do a backup using ROM Managers Clockwork utility. It constantly crashed my phone; I didn't get one successful backup. So I was going to try using SPRecovery, but when I turn off my phone, then turn it on holding the X key, the Motorola logo stays there forever, blinks, and then reappears again. I have to release the X key for it to get passed the logo, but then it just boots normally.I've already uninstalled ROM Manager, but do I need to do anything different so I can use SPRecovery?I'm thinking my phone is confused as to which backup/recovery mode to launch.Did I just mess up my phone?I'm a total noob at this and feel like a moron.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi originally rooted my phone using the sprecovery method. i also loaded up chevyno1's 1100lv kernal that same way.i was told to use rom manager to load up a new ROM in order to make it easier on myself to go back to the stock ROM should i choose to.i installed rommanager, and applied the new rom. nothing happened. it didn't load, my phone rebooted normally. i tried manually going into recovery and nothing happens. the big "m" stays on there for a while, blinks and stays on there a bit longer. it will stay there as long as im holding "x" down.can i uninstall rom manager and fix this issue? any other way?

View 8 Replies View RelatedSo I have stock android 2.1 installed on my phone. I haven't gotten the OTA update. I tried to manually update, but recovery mode doesn't seem like its working - I see the triangle/question mark but there is also a phone laying down right next to it. No combination of keys will get me to a menu to apply the update.zip. I tried flashing back to 2.01 and 2.0 and updating from there - but the recovery mode stayed the same. Does anyone know where to find the full Froyo stock .SBF files?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI rooted my android device with froyo yesterday. I installed the rom manager and its associated programs. Then I downloaded and installed the Cyanogen 6.0 mod. I was able to install the mod yesterday but I did not wipe my data clean which made the startup screen loop. I restored my phone, and now I can not reinstall the Cyanogen 6.0 mod. I go into the rom manager and select download, I select to wipe my data and to backup the system, then I restart in the Clock Work Recovery Mod. Once there I can not find the Cyanogen 6.0 to flash. I have been trying to get this to work for the past 24 hours!
View 2 Replies View RelatedUpdating rom requires reboot into recovery mode.. then what am I supposed to do?
It's an update for SS4.9.
I get to the recovery mode screen, then what do I do?
Just hit reboot?
"simple nandroid backup?"
Wipe my data?
Install something?
So the other day I rooted my phone and it just keeps restarting on me. Cant get into recovery mode or anything. Now I gotta send this phone back to Verizon and I don't want to send it back with it being rooted cause I don't want to get charged for the phone. Now my question is how can I mess up my phone so Verizon don't know that I rooted my phone. This may sound dumb but I kinda need a way to fry it or something like that.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been reading and I've downloaded the ROM Manager from the Marketplace. I've also downloaded a ROM to install. I have tried to boot my phone into recovery mode (pressing X while powering back on) and all I get to is a screen with the exclamation mark and a phone under it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy HTC Desire VC (T328d) was rooted and running Android OS 4.0.3 (ics).
In recovery mode, I accidentally formatted /system folder (from internal phone memory). This is because the recovery mode is all in chinese language and I did a huge mistake. The phone cannot boot showing HTC logo screen and no boot sound.
I've downloaded the kernel for this device at htcdev.com.I can enter recovery mode. My friend has the same device and his is not rooted yet.
The screen/digitizer were smashed on my GS4; I can not see the screen or use it to contol the phone. There were no changed to the stock software that came with th GS4 from Sprint (no ROMs, kernals, custom software). There were no backups, backup software, or anything I need stored on the SD card. I was delivered a replacement GS4 through the insurance.
I was hoping to use the new phone to guide the old phone (with only hardware keys and no screen) through a complete backup to the SD card and then swap it to the new phone for recovery. However, there doesnt appear to be a "backup" or "restore" option in the GS4 recovery mode.
Without the ability to activate USB/developer permissions on my smashed phone, a Sprint store or computer backup/recovery is impossible. My previous Android (Epic 4g) could be completely backed up to SD card and restored from SD card using "recovery mode".
Am I making this more complicated than it is? Do I have any options? Can I use recovery mode for its namesake?
please help me i need a nandroid backup for htc wild fire because playing in recovery mode i've deleted my backups and all things of sd card.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI rooted my galaxy tab 2 7.0 yesterday and flashed cm10.1. Everything was working great until I tried changing my boot animation. When I tried rebooting it rebooted but there was no boot animation and then once it rebooted half of the screen displayed black(it isn't broken because the backlight is on and it works fine when it is in recovery) I boote into recovery and tried restoring it from a backup I made of the stock rom but it keeps saying E: signature verification failed.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just realized that you can add folders to the home screens by long pressing an empty space, then choosing folders. There are options to add New Folder, All contacts, etc. After adding a new folder and dragging app shortcuts, I can't seem to figure out how to rename the folders from the default "Folder" name.
