Ok, so on the rooting, I don't understand what makes a certain ROM more appealing than another.
That's why I ask what is the Best Rom? or if there is one? What are the main differences in Rom's?-Blackdroid,chevy,etc?

Is there a basic guide to the main differences between versions of the Android OS?I am using a 1.6 Magic, am buying a 1.5 T-Mobile Pulse for my son and looking at a 1.6 Hero for myself early next year. I wanted to see what the differences were between 1.5 -> 1.6 -> 2.0.I assume that I have to wait for network operators to provide updated operating systems? Can the Pulse be upgraded at all? Is the Hero getting/got version 2.0?

View 7 Replies View RelatedSo Im using Chevy's SS 4.7 with his .8 ULV kernel and im getting like 5 hour battery life... I checked Usage and number one is Drroid OS with like 28% and then display with 18%. Can the kernel kill battery that much or should i just do a wipe and start all over?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIt looks like Chevy's kernal is breaking the root access for Titanium. Anyone else having the same issue? When I first installed BB .7, Titanium worked fine. Then I installed Chevy's kernal and now it doesn't have root access. Looks like a couple other people are having the same issue on AllDroid. I'm using BB .7 with Chevy's 1ghz kernal.

Buddy told me to put kangerade and chevy lv 1.2ghz on it. I'm not new to the root game and i've done it to a few eris phones. I got everything installed correctly two days ago but yesterday and today, the phone seems to soft boot every now and again for no particular reason. It doesn't go all the way to the mas a hard boot would, but it goes to the droid logo and reboots from there. I'm running the newest version of Kangerade with chevy 1.2ghz low voltage kernel.

Speed Test shows a 10:1 difference.When going to a different location such as at a certain restaurant, I have full 3G reception on my phone but my wife's phone only has 2 bars for 3G.What would be the technical explanation for this phenomenon?

View 3 Replies View RelatedIm running Pete's virgin deodexed version with Chevy's Low voltage kernel. I have the main setcpu profile set to 900 mhz on the minimum and maximum side, with the performance governor. That works fine and I also have profiles enabled. The profiles work great too. The problem is that when switching from a custom profile back to the main profile, the governor ALWAYS sets to ondemand, and then I have to manually set it to performance where it stays until another profile becomes effective.

I have looked into the profiles but I find it a bit confusing. If you set your minimum for the main screen to 500 on demand, none of the profiles when enabled will be able to go below this?
What profiles do you use and why if you don't mind me asking?
Charging Full (If it is charging why do I care if it moves from 500?)
Charging AC/Full (waste of time, don't understand the diff/between above)
Charging USB/Full (same as above)
Screen Off (set to my min clock speed?)
Battery (issue or non issue? I don't want to have my performance knocked back when I drop below 50%)
Temp (should I be worried? and at what temp?)
Can you just use some of those and they will combine with the max/min settings on the main screen?
What are my advantages and disadvantages?
Am I wasting battery jumping between 500/900? Should the values be closer?
When I have the phone on "On Demand" no matter what setting it is a bit leggy when I restart the phone (even if it is set to 900/900). When I set it to performance 900/900 it snaps right into place. "On demand" and turning on the phone is the only place I ever really notice a lag.
I know this could be done on earlier phones, but I can't find a way to change my main gmail account on the Droid (Android 2.01) without doing a factory reset. Anyone know how to do this?If a factory reset is the only way, what's the best way to do a backup/restore?

and i've been trying to root this so i can use other application and wifi tether however everytime i tried i always get this error " MAIN FOLDER IS OLDER , MAIN UPDATE FAIL!"
I used unrevoked - does not work then i restore to factory setting THEN i tried simpleroot get message Main Folder is older, main update fail!. I also have tried to do Restart the PHONE and press the power button and hold the volume button up (but i have upload the PC36IMG.ZIP before i reboot) THIS does not work either get same message.
IF anyone can help me with this root and PM me your PAYPAL i willing to pay $10 to give me detail instruction (step by step how to get this root)
After rooter i need to know if possible to update somehow to get my FLASH working or it have to be update to droid 2.2 (if i update to 2.2 after rooted, will it lose all my rooted previously assuming its already successfully rooted)
Since I got the original 2.2 update for my Droid, whenever I get a new text message and slide down the notification bar and select the new message, it takes me to the main text message window rather than the actual thread to reply to the person. It is really annoying because it requires an extra step. I figured it would be fixed with the second 2.2 update but it didn't. I called Verizon and they called Motorola and nobody knew of the problem so they shipped me out a new phone and it still does it! I am not sure if I am the only one experiencing this or if its normal. It doesn't do it 100% of the time but closer to 90% probably.

Imported into Gmail, all was well. I then set up my ICE contacts and notes. Now my contacts are gone from the main contacts button on the home screen. I still have access to the contacts from inside the dialer,email and messaging apps, but when I press the contacts icon on the lower right of the home screen, I get

No recent status updates. If I touch the 'Contacts: Google' button, I can choose between 'all contacts, Favorites, Google, Phone contacts', but all are blank.
