Android :: Want Email Apps To Support Android In Secure Format?

Dec 21, 2009

I work for a large company who uses exchange active sync server. A co-worker bought a motorola droid which supports exchange server but not security features that windows mobile uses or the 2.0 iphone uses. The company requires a password to interact with their email system. I currently have a 6.1 mobile and can connect. I would like to get an android phone next and was wondering if there are other email apps to support android in this secure format?

Android :: Does 2.1 Browser Support HTML 5 And What Video Format Does It Play?

Apr 7, 2010

The company I work for produces allot of video and we want to target as many devices as possible, but the question came up of what does the Android do? I personally own an Android based phone running 2.1, but I can't seem to get the HTML 5 tag to work. Even when I can trigger the browser to playback the video it just throws a notification error that it can't.Are there guidelines to producing Android/HTML 5 compatible videos? Is it truly supported?

Motorola Droid X :: Google Email Application Setup - Use Secure Connection

Sep 17, 2010

Can anyone tell me how to setup a google apps (no gmail) account on a Droid X? I set it up on my Fascinate easily. I need to set SSL for outgoing, and TLS for outgoing. The Droid X only gives me the option of "use secure connection". The thing is, I got it to work as a regular email account last night, but then it stopped working. We have one ATT account through yahoo, and the google apps account from our private website. I tried setting it up as a gmail account since the settings are the same, but get the error "cannot establish a reliable data connection to the server."

Android :: Does The Dalvik File Format - .dx - Support More Instructions Than Java .class File

Apr 17, 2010

Is there anything the Dalvik VM supports (in terms of bytecode) which is not used currently because the .class files don't have it?

As an example, if people would write their own Source-to-DX converter for their functional language XYZ, would they be able to implement e. g. full tail calls although the .class file does support tail calls only under certain circumstances?

Samsung Captivate :: Does Android Have Support For Apps That Can Use To Password Protect Certain Apps On Phone?

Jul 21, 2010

I'm new to Android. I recently was an iPhone fan but thought that Android was a better alternative to iPhone. So anyway, I have a few questions about the Captivate. Does Android have support for apps that you can use to password protect certain apps on the phone? Like messages, and photos for more private stuff. Another question I have: is the Captivates reception really bad? I currently have the iPhone 4 while it doesn't have the best of signal, its not too bad either. And my last question is if the captivate has support for 32gb cards. I'm sorry if someones already gone over these but I could find anything right away. Anyways, I look forward to Android and the Captivate.

Just a quick question. When 2.1 is finally released, my Hero will be wiped clean and all apps will need re-installing, do you think, as the free for life wave secure offer will be over, they will want payment next time or is it a simple case of re-installing under the old terms? Hopefully this makes sense. You can probably tell I am quite new to all this!

Samsung Moment :: How Secure Are Market Apps With Personal Info On Phone

Nov 13, 2009

I have been wondering over the last few days since getting an Android phone and trying to configure it to make it at least as productive as my previous smartphone. How secure is the information in a world where we put a large amount of personal info behind google-id and password? This id and pwd is plugged into the phone for functionality. We browse the Android Market for necessary apps provided by complete strangers and click Install. We click OK when caution is raised, with unknowing consequences and taking complete responsibility for the installation. Am I justified in being paranoid with Android model of doing things?

Please read the thread "ActiveSync for Android, Moment?" to understand better why I raise this question.

Android :: Does HTC Stock Email App Support Exchange Push?

Jul 11, 2010

I know this has been talked about a lot in these forums, but I don't see any proof one way or the other. Some people say that the only way to get push notifications is to use the gmail app or a 3rd party app, and some people say you can use the stock HTC app and set things up through Exchange. Then some more people say that even setting it up through Exchange is a "pull" account as well, not push. However, what I don't see is hard core proof to back any of this up. I would imagine that there is documentation out there somewhere of what exactly is driving the email collection in the HTC Sense email app, and whether or not it is different for Exchange accounts.

HTC Incredible :: Exchange Email Format / No HTML

Apr 29, 2010

When using the Exchange ActiveSync mail, I'm trying to enable the HTC Incredible to view e-mail in HTML format.I've gone to Settings --> Send & Receive... but the "Message Format" option is greyed out and not enabled.I then tried switching the "Mail size limit" from 10KB to "Entire Mail" as one user suggested for the HTC Hero on Sprint - but that didn't seem to work either.I've also seen in places that Exchange 2007 or 2010 is required to get HTML email... we're about to upgrade, but we're currently on Exchange 2003 - so that could be the cause of the issue for whatever reason.Has anyone had any luck with this on the HTC Incredible?

Motorola Droid :: VPN Support On Phone For Email Access?

Nov 6, 2009

I am a current BB user and am very interested in moving over to the Droid, but have concerns about getting my corporate Outlook email. We do not support Activesync; we have 3 methods for mobile access:

BEZ server for BB (not applicable with Droid)
GoodLink - I have not found that GoodLink is supported on the Droid?
VPN - this is how our iPhone users currently access email.

So I have a few questions:
Is GoodLink supported on the Droid?
Is VPN supported natively on the Droid - or is there a VPN client for the Drod? I am not a developer and don't want to mess with the root for any development, etc.
