I am brand new to the htc magic android thing and having a few problems. Previously I synced all my calendar dates with isync and ical (on my n95) but I cant seem to get it to connect any one help me out? Also am I right in thinking the magic does not support bluetooth phone to phone file transfers? if so is there a application I can get that will do this?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for an app to transfer files to and from my HTC Desire and MacBook. I am currently doing it via an FTP Server app, but the big draw back is that it relies on internet upload speeds rather than using a LAN share, so it ends up being a lot slower than USB. I've tried ES File manager as that as LAN connectivity, but I couldn't get it working with my Mac.
On my Nokia N82, there was an app I used to use for this purpose called SymSMB (SymSMB for S60 3rd & 5th Edition by Telexy Networks :: Symbian software @ My-Symbian.com). What this did is allow my Mac too mount the entire SD card (or any folder of choice) from my N82 as a shared folder on my Mac, which was brilliant. Basically like accessing a shared folder on one computer from another. Is there an app that does this on Android?
Have already posted this in "multimedia". Sorry for reposting, but I hadn't seen this group before. Q1: On youtube and other websites I, more often than not, get the message "Cannot play this file". I suppose the reason is that the file format is not supported? Can I download a codecs pack somewhere in order to get more out of my phone? Q2: Is there a flash plugin for the Android browser or an alternative browser available, and where do I get it?

I knew that voice dialling isn't support - why on earth not though?
I've just paired it with my BT car stereo, and I have also discovered that it doesn't download the phonebook to the stereo like it did from my TyTN II!
So how am I supposed to dial in the car!? I'm handsfree but to dial I can't voicedial or scroll through the phonebook, so the only option is to hope the number is in my received/missed/dialled calls, or pull over and dial it from my phone manually.
Is there any chance that this will appear in a future update?
Using both Astro and the ES File Explorer included with Fresh 1.0.1, I'm trying to transfer files over my wifi from my computer to my SD card..Talk about SLOW, I could downloaded the files from the internet faster.I transferred a 175 meg TV show, took like 30 minutes, seriously.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWondering if you all could help me out; I'm probably just a bumbling idiot, but any help would be appreciated.When I connect my phone to my laptop (running Windows 7 ultimate if that helps at all) it initially had issues collecting and recognizing the drivers.I went to HTC support, didn't find exactly what I needed as far as drivers were concerned but eventually, for some reason my computer officially detected my device, its drivers, and stated that it was ready to be used.Now I go to attempt to transfer music, but there's no icon in the my computer tray saying that the phone's connected as a mass storage device. I opened up Windows Media Player and it isn't in there as a synced device either. I used the disc that came with the phone but it seems to only have an application that tracks my exact usage (as far as minutes, texts, and data as well as transferring contacts and calendars which I'm not interested in) as opposed to something that helps actually sync my device for putting music on it.Please, bear with me here. It's my first true smartphone as my previous one was a Blackberry Curve 8330. It opened the exact way I would prefer this one to: as a mass storage device.Any glaringly obvious mistakes I'm making? Or is there a problem that could be hardware related on my end?

I went ahead and ordered a class 2 16GB card because I didn't have a lot to spend. My question is what are the advantages of a faster SD card such as a class 6? Is it just quicker file transfers or is their a significant increase in loading times or something else?

I would guesstimate, 85% of the time, the transfered file gets corrupted. It happens on different phones and different Linux distros.
I would think the two would work well together since they both run on a Linux kernel.

I cannot find a way on the phone to beam or send or push contacts and the car requires the transfer to begin from the phone. I have sucessfully paired my phone and the car. I am suspecting that the present bluetooth stack for the Magic does not include the profile necessary to beam contacts, but would appreciate any insight from anyone. Is this something that could be available in the future?

Call control works fine over the car stereo via bluetooth. I have tried my wife's Nokia and it plays music with sound via the bluetooth over the car stereo. I have checked and HTC Magic does show the bluetooth is connected with phone and music.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I get in my car my phone pairs with my Parrot so I can make and receive calls without using my phone. My HTC Magic pairs with the device fine (it does take 5 mins or so to sync fully) and I am able to see my contact list and make calls from it without any problems. It puts the audio and the microphone through the Parrot system and its fine. The problem occurs when I receive a call unfortunately. The Parrot system realizes I have an incoming call and cuts out my radio / cd in the car and rings as it should do.
Unfortunately my phone also rings and when I accept the call (on either the phone or the parrot) it doesn't automatically put the call through the parrot. I have to use the phone and manually set the call to go through the bluetooth, which as you can appreciate is a bit fiddly whilst trying to drive. I've had a look round for an app that sorts this, and checked the bluetooth settings on the phone but I've not been able to find anything as of yet that will solve the problem.
I have a HTC magic, and i broke my headphones, but i have a nice headset from motorolla.I wanted to listen to music through my bluetooth headset so i was wondering is there and app or a fix for this issue.

I have downloaded 'bluetooth file transfer' and find it a little complicated for easy transfers of pictures, music etc. I can send items but nobody seems to be able to find me to send me anything (phone is set to discoverable). I think it is great app just a little too much for what I want to do!
Does anyone know of an app which wors quickly and easily?
