So, I've had my Droid for about a week and a half now, and just starting yesterday, it keeps deleting my message history. The phone freezes up, the causes me to force close my messages and I have to restart the phone in order to get back in to my inbox. Any suggestions?

So I've searched through the forum and found no threads about this this has happened to me twice already
and my text message inbox just completely deleted everything on its own i have the text message maximum limit to 999 and i use the stock messaging app and my phone is not rooted its a bit annoying when all the messages get deleted. does this happen to anyone else?
My unrooted droid on 2.1 deleted all my text message threads in the stock messaging app even the locked ones. What I don't get is ALL the picture messages are gone but the dialer storage is 10.6 mb. What the heck? It should be almost zero.
View 3 Replies View RelatedGo into your phone contacts and pick a contact you have texted. On the open field below the contact, slide to the right and you will see a list of every text message you have sent and received from that person even if you deleted the messages!
Delete contact and re-enter the contact.
Supposedly to be fixed with an update?

Just today I have started having a strange issue with Gmail on my Droid. If I delete a message from my phone, it appears to delete OK, and disappears from the phone. If I go to the computer and log in, however, the message will still be there, no matter how long I wait. This is causing my Gmail counter widget I have installed on the phone to show an incorrect number, as it is counting the messages on the server, not the phone. No matter how many times I try to resync Gmail, once I delete a message from my phone, it will not show back up on the phone, but will remain on the server until I log into a computer & delete them from there.

However, on my home page there is (WAS) a text messaging icon, a voicemail icon, a browser icon, and then a market icon. Somehow a second text messaging icon showed up. So there was my normal original text message icon, and then a larger one above it. So I tried deleting one of them, it would not work, so i tried the other one, did not work. Then I turned off my phone and turned it back on and now they are both gone. I tried hitting menu, then add, then motorola widgets and then messages, but the only option for a text messaging icon is the red message icon, i was the actual text message icon, HOW DO I GET IT!!?? It's bugging me very badly.

But the messages are showing up still in the messaging app, ( i thought i enabled only gosms) and of course, when i delete them, they get deleted in gosms too

I think he may use this phone for pron sometimes and when the GF reaches for the phone in the morning to check the weather, fooking autocomplete gives him away. Then he has to deal with being in the doghouse until next morning when she sees it again.

I use Handcent as my SMS program. I try to delete all threads (I have test history) and it doesn't take effect. All threads are still there after it asks me. I have cleared data and cache's on both the stock and Handcent apps in my app manager. When trying to delete all threads with my stock program, my phone typically freezes up and forces close. Anyone have similiar experiences, have answers? I even uninstalled Handcent thinking that would clear everything, re-installed and everything was still there.

At least twice in the past couple months, all of my text messages (several thousand within dozens of conversation threads) have suddenly disappeared without warning. It basically happens like this: I check or send some texts, check something else on my phone like my email or calender or other routine function, then go back within moments to check or send another text and just like that, my entire text message history is EMPTY. Talk about frustrating!
I have doubled checked my settings and have nothing set that would cause older messages to be purged. Anyone know what may cause this and how to prevent it from happening again? BTW, I also had all my favs as identified in my favs widget totally disappear once (had to re-select each one again). Not sure if this is related, but I thought I mention it.
Just installed Handcent and so far Im loving it. Way better texting app then what comes stock from HTC. However I do have a question. How do I stop the HTC app from popping up with text message notifications? Right now I get both the HTC and the Handcent notification at the same time when a text comes through.

At the same time this started to occur my play store stopped working, just getting the "no connection, Reconnect"
I am using the stock app from samsung for calls and messages. Factory reset is something i would like to avoid.
1) Does anyone know if the update still works? I did tried it today but didn't get too far. On the LGMobile Support Tool it says Model: GW620R Version: V10C. Everything looks good so far but when it gets to the analysis part, I have to close it because it says "Software update is not supported for this model".
2) For people who did the firmware update, do your text messages get deleted? Since my text messages could potentially be deleted, how do I back them up or save them to my SIM card?
Today 1 message came to me...as it was some scheme msg, so i deleted that msg as well as the entire thread created.
Now the problem is that, that msg dont seem to be deleted bcoz when i m opening any thread, its apperaing in the notification bar as it have arrived just now and when i m clicking on that msg, its directing me to compose msg window.....
What shud i do to get rid of that sticked msg?

I am using the original Droid and use the Handcent SMS app for messaging. I am not receiving incoming texts and have the error message stating that my message memory is full. I just deleted all threads about a week ago so this was surprising, but regardless I deleted again. I double checked both messaging and handcent and both are empty. The only answer I can think of is that I have some kind of backup storage setting, but I can't find it anywhere on my phone!
