HTC Desire :: Way To Stop Message Tone Playing Whilst On Phone?

Whenever I receive a text message while on an active call, it plays the message tone at full volume - making it rather hard to hear the other person! Granted, this only happens occasionally ... but when it does it can be quite annoying. I've searched other threads and had a (what I consider to be ) a thorough look through the phones' settings, but I can't seem to find a way to stop it. Is this just an omission on the developers behalf? Or is there something I could change?

I have a brand new desire and was streaming a file from a webpage in bed last night, but the screen doesn't go completely dark, nor does it 'lock' - you can accidentally touch the screen and interfere with the playback. If I try to lock the phone it kills playback. I would really like to be able to lock the screen whilst media is still playing through the headphones.

How can I stop my desire vibrating whilst I am inserting text, its getting very annoying now I want it to vibrate when I receive calls/texts etc but not every time I touch the screen?

on my desire i have set it up so when i get a message one of my mp3s play i did so by puting it in the Notification folder. but when i send a message it plays the whole song!!!! can you make it so that sent messages dont show up in notifications i need help its killing me.

i have installed tone picker and thought i could set my mp3 as a incoming message but when i set mp3 as notification it only plays the mp3 as delivery report after i have sent a message and not when i recieve a incoming message.

I have no problem setting custom ringtones and notifications but how do I do the same for text msg's received I can choose from a list of stock ones on the Device but wanna use my own is this possible?

I have had my Desire for just over a month now and still haven't worked out how to get the text message alert to repeat. I have my phone on silent/vibrate when I'm at work, and I have sometimes found that a text comes in while I'm away from my desk and I don't discover this until later. Or even when I've got the sound switched on I don't always notice it if I'm in a noisy environment, or maybe I don't feel the vibration in my pocket. My previous phones have always produced the alert tone/vibration every few minutes until I read the message. Can this be done with the Desire, and how?

I keep receiving a message from one of two numbers that i don't know. They always say KEEP THIS MESSAGE and then gives a IMEI number which is always the same. I don't want to reply to it and i just delete it but it is getting annoying now. Have installed Lookout but says my phone is clean.

I have the desire for about 3 months now and i m loving it. however, what irritates me is that every time when a sms is received, the phone only vibrates once, while the ring tone still goes on. i have tried the smart vibrate app. although it can set the length of the vibrate but it will still vibrate even if i have read the sms. any one can recommend any better apps? also it seems to take a long time to power off my phone. is it due to running apps? but i have killed the apps b4 i shut down....

I've been lurking here for awhile and I came from a bb curve so all of this is new to me. I have learned many many great things about the EVO from mostly everyone here on the board but one thing I cannot seem to find is how to have your messages, (texts, emails, ect.) ring longer than only 1 time! Am I missing a setting somewhere or is this typical on android devices?

I'm on my 2nd captivate and both of these bugs have happened on both phones.
First being the backlight remaining on unless I lock the phone manually. This will happen even with the backlight auto turn off set to 30 seconds. This has happened a handful of times, and I can make the backlight turn off if I want by using the lock key, but it will never auto turn off. This is fixed by power cycling the phone.
Second, my notification volume. I've noticed a few times that I'll have a text or something waiting on my phone for which I didn't hear the notification tone. When I go to the phones settings I find that the notification volume is down around 25% instead of the 75% or so I keep it set at. This seems to happen randomly.

I am new to the HTC Hero. I would like to use my own MP3 for a tone when I receive a text. I have tried doing this by putting th efile on my SD card and setting it that way when it is in a specific folder but I still get the HTC Hero default text tone.

Tried to send a text today whilst the phone was connected to T-Mobile (I'm on Orange). The text failed to send, repeatedly. As soon as I got back into Orange coverage, it sent.
Anyone else had this? I'm gonna ring Orange tomorrow, just wondered if it was common?

Whilst listening to music via the headphone socket to my stereo i got a call but the music went quiet for a couple of seconds then carried on playing when id finished what i was doing i looked and id missed a call.
Is there a setting that will ring for a call and also alert you of a text when listening to music at all ? (stock music player btw).

Ok basically i've set a song as my tone for notification and it works fine.... except that when i recive an SMS etc it playes the whole song regarless whether i view the SMS or not and refuses to stop :? this is rather annoying meaning i have to put my phone on silent till the song has finished :/ On my old SE phone the music stopped as soon as i had viewed the SMS. Is there anyway to do this on Xperia X10 Mini Pro? (aside from physicaly editing and shortening the music track..)

My sprint HTC hero for some reason will all the sudden stop allowing me to get text messages and mine that I send don't seem to reach the phone I am sending it to. It will stop working out of the blue and start back up. The only reason I know that it stops is because the person I am texting shows me that they never received a message from me and I never got one from them. My phone does not tell me I cant receive or send it just stops and I never know. When it starts working again it does not ever send the messages I didn't receive.

Just installed Handcent and so far Im loving it. Way better texting app then what comes stock from HTC. However I do have a question. How do I stop the HTC app from popping up with text message notifications? Right now I get both the HTC and the Handcent notification at the same time when a text comes through.
