I'm new to this forum and have managed to find this area to post in. My simple question is this:How do I post in the main forums as I need some help with my new HTC Magic. I had phoned Vodafone the other day and was told that at one point my browser had beenactive for 22hoursin a row. I need to know how to turn my browser off.

View 17 Replies View RelatedAre we guaranteed that Application.onCreate() runs in the UI/main thread? I want to assume so but I can't find any information to make me 100 % sure. When I receive a broadcast I want to post a message onto the UI/main thread. Currently I've added a function in my Application class to return a handler (created in it's onCreate), is this a good solution? If not, what would be a better solution?

How can I pass all the XMPP information (including XMPPConnection) to the service so it can use it without twice logging in? Currently I have it setup so I am making 2 XMPP connections. This works, my service continues to send XMPP messages UNTIL I try to send a message in my main activity, then the app force closes. Im assuming because I have tried to login to the service twice.

Basically I am currently working on an ASP.NET application that bundles bunch of files into a zip and pushes it back to the client via the response output stream.
Now this works fine in Firefox and in the ICS 4.0 stock browser, but doesn't work on the clients Galaxy Tab running Honeycomb 3.0. What happens is it appears to download the html of the page instead.
I have set up a Button that will link to Google Checkout, however, I need to POST a whole lot of required data (not GET) so I can't use the usual Intent method.

Bought my HTC Magic yesterday. Though I am struggling with the G3 connections. As soon as I disable the WLAN android is connecting and transferring with G3, which actually costs my quite a lot of money - Eventhough I also disabled every auto-connections in the settings.
Does anyone know how its possible to turn this off?
Basically i want a browser with multitouch pretty badly. But i also need apps to sd, which puts the.hero rom even further out of the picture. If it matters I am running a Rogers HTC Magic (32a) , with the CyanogenMod ROM ver 3.8.6 I believe

View 11 Replies View RelatedI would like to know if I can turn off the cell radio on my HTC Magic but keep the WiFi on. I live in an area where the cell signal is very poor for all carriers (I'm with Rogers). So when I'm at home I have my phone set to call forward to my landline phone and use WiFi as my connection to the internet for e-mail, MSN, etc. I know you can put the phone into "Airplane Mode" but this disables all radio including WiFi. The reason I want to disable only the cell radio is that my phone is constantly losing and reacquiring the signal from Rogers which eats up battery.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI own my HTC Magic for only few days till now, but there is one problem what really makes me angry. I bought this phone mainly for having good and comfortable access to the internet. So, all websites are working good on default browser, except one - pinnaclesports.com. When I try to enter there, it says error:
The application Browser (process com.android.browser) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
And I have only 1 option to choose - Force close.
The same happens on Dolphin. Opera is working good with pinnaclesports website, but to be honest I don't like Opera, I definetely prefer default browser.
I've been trying almost everything. I did wipe and even changed interface from standard to Sense UI (which IMO is worse than normal interface) and I still get the same error.
When Im connected via the mobile network, the default browser wont load pages with SSL (secure pages).
It just shows the padlock and nothing else.
The default browser loads SSL pages when connected via Wi-Fi.
Opera browser load SSL pages both via the mobile network and Wi-Fi.
I tried resseting to default in the browser but it didnt help.
I find it really odd.
If I uninstall the browser, can I reinstall it from market (I didnt see it there).?
I have a HTC Magic and just love the glowing trackball if you have missed a call. So i wanted to use the trackball light in my own android apps, but i can not find anything on how to make it glow. Does anyone know how to turn the light of the trackball on and of?

and i've been trying to root this so i can use other application and wifi tether however everytime i tried i always get this error " MAIN FOLDER IS OLDER , MAIN UPDATE FAIL!"
I used unrevoked - does not work then i restore to factory setting THEN i tried simpleroot get message Main Folder is older, main update fail!. I also have tried to do Restart the PHONE and press the power button and hold the volume button up (but i have upload the PC36IMG.ZIP before i reboot) THIS does not work either get same message.

Question! I'm a big fan of the dolphin HD browser, but I can't seem to find a way to turn off 'mobile view.' There are lots of websites I like that won't let me see video if it detects I'm on a mobile device.
The stock browser has an option under settings to turn off mobile view, and it usually works.
Does dolphin browser have something similar? I can't seem to find it...
Does anyone know if there is a way turn off the text flow in the Hero's browser? I hate how when I pinch to zoom, it auto text flows and throws me onto some random place on the site...pretty annoying. I have to then search around for where i on the site I was before I did the pinchzoom

To also help with Battery Life you can do these steps exactly: 1) Turn your device ON and Charge the device for 8 hours or more 2) Unplug the device and Turn the phone OFF and charge for 1 hour 3) Unplug the device Turn ON wait 2 minutes and Turn OFF and charge for another hour Your battery life should almost double, we have tested this on our devices and other agents have seen a major difference as well Going to try it tonight, people say it works though. His response was that he didn't want to sticky too many threads, as to overwhelm the main page with a dozen stickied threads. Instead, he's relying on the "Forum Guidelines" stickied item. I think that's great but in my past experience, new users don't usually check that. In my experience, new users will simply come on in, maybe glance over the thread titles of the first page to see if any pertain to what they're interested in, then simply start a new thread to get their questions addressed. When I navigate to this site on my phone it shows up fine.. but once I tried to log in i got some kind of weird error and now I can't access the site at all.. I'm at work right now so I'll update what error it was a bit later. Just wondering if this happens to anybody else?
