I just got my HTC Magic yesterday and I was meddling around with it for awhile and I realized, when you receive text messages there are no vibration? Is it possible to make the phone vibrate when there are new text messages? And also, is it possible to turn of GPRS so that I wont accidentally connect to the internet with it?

I had a program that I got from the Market...I think it was called something Settings. It was a green color "gear" icon.
I think that was the program. It let's you control all of your settings for the most part such as wifi-gps etc...
For the LG EVE where do you go to turn on or off 3G?
I do not have data anymore.
I had a setting where I could turn on and off the 3G GPRS.
I no longer have that feature.
Turning off all the useless crap and using an app killer gets me a solid 2 to 3 days on 1 charge.
I am trying to use vibration alert with notification and flash lights within a service.
I wrote the following code:

In the manifest file I have added the following lines in manifest, application, activity and the service element:

But I am still getting the error. It is obvious that I am making some mistake defining the permissions. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? I am using Android 1.5_r3.
I have my phone set on multiple short vibrates for txt alerts... and it does that, but for some reason now when i get a txt from my wife its a long vibrate instead of multiple shorts... I still have all the settings on multiple shorts so i dont know WHY it changed just her to a long vibrate and i can figure it out... I have shut my phone off multiple times but it still does it...
I have a droid X ... and I am using handcent. only thing I can think is different is i downloaded "Task Manager" the other day? but it just started this issue today.
I know its very minor but it annoys the hell out of me because I cant figure out how or why to change it. I have even changed the vibration to custom settings and it works on every txt but from my wife...oh i forgot to mention that this morning i downloaded angry birds... and maybe the issue started after that? i went to play angry birds a little bit ago and it wasnt anywhere in my app list for some reason...i couldnt find it anywhere. went to the market and it showed it as being installed, so i uninstalled it and reinstalled it and it then showed up as being back in my app list? beats me why? love this phone but i feel way over my head with this thing. i've had it for 5 days now.
One little thing I miss on my Blackberry was that I had it set to vibrate once for Social Network notifications, twice for an email and three times for an SMS. That way I knew how important it might be and whether to take it out of my pocket. My T-Mobile G2/HTC Hero (1.5) doesn't seem to have the option to change the default "vibrate twice". Is there any way of changing it? Or an app that might do it?

I am quite satisfied with it, but i have quite an irritating problem, my GPRS keeps on going back every now and then, like once every 2 minutes and then i have to turn the Flight mode on/off to bring it back. It might not be a problem in countries where 3G is available but here in India it's quite unsettling to see such a nuance in such a wonderful OS. I know it's not a problem with the carrier(Vodafone for me) as nokia phones work seamlessly in the same area.

It all of a sudden started doing this like an hour ago. It will play a notification sound if I want it to but will not vibrate, which is how i like to receive my texts. I have the option checked for phone to vibrate when messages are received and nothing at all.
So i wanted to see if anyone else has the same issue as me. I have my settings so that my keyboard only vibrates (no sound!) for sending texts BUT it makes a clicking noise sometimes when I press the keys. This is really annoying and no. Hard reset does not help. Has anyone else experienced this. my phone is the HTC Incredible.
View 13 Replies View RelatedLast week I was in the US and had gotten the AT&T pay-as-you-go sim. It charges 1c/kb and I thought that's not too bad since I *only* get outlook and yahoo email. Well, *before* I knew it, it sucked up $14.40 for internet access....Frantically called AT&T customer service and after a long wait, they told me that my device had access the service and downloaded 1.5Mb! I asked them if there was a way to turn off the GPRS(since I was mostly interested in their $2/day unlimited calling service) and they said they don't have a way to turn it off Tried a bunch of things like turning off auto-sync (in settings) etc...but STILL I ended up paying $40 by the end of the day!!
Is their a way to turn off GPRS completely and also monitor what applications are accessing the service? All I have to go by is what AT&T says at the website!
I just got a droid Eris, I love it. One thing I cant stand about it is the freaking vibrate that happens whenever I hit a button, please, is there way to turn this off?

So my question is, does anyone know how to turn the vibration off for the dial pad? I got it turned off for texting and I have the noise off for the dial pad just can't seem to get the vibration off.
