HTC EVO 4G :: Battery Tip From Xda Forums

Well I looked around but I don't see any mention of it on these forums. Onestepahead from xda got a reply from htc about the battery and they said to do this. To also help with Battery Life you can do these steps exactly: 1) Turn your device ON and Charge the device for 8 hours or more 2) Unplug the device and Turn the phone OFF and charge for 1 hour 3) Unplug the device Turn ON wait 2 minutes and Turn OFF and charge for another hour Your battery life should almost double, we have tested this on our devices and other agents have seen a major difference as well Going to try it tonight, people say it works though. I just made a private comment to twospirits, suggesting that he sticky the "What Apps Do You Have" thread. His response was that he didn't want to sticky too many threads, as to overwhelm the main page with a dozen stickied threads. Instead, he's relying on the "Forum Guidelines" stickied item. I think that's great but in my past experience, new users don't usually check that. In my experience, new users will simply come on in, maybe glance over the thread titles of the first page to see if any pertain to what they're interested in, then simply start a new thread to get their questions addressed. And that new thread is often redundant. twospirits suggested that I start a discussion to see what others in the community thought. If you have a specific thread that you think should be stickied

When I navigate to this site on my phone it shows up fine.. but once I tried to log in i got some kind of weird error and now I can't access the site at all.. I'm at work right now so I'll update what error it was a bit later. Just wondering if this happens to anybody else? I frequented these forums before I got my N1 and this forum actually gave me the final push to finally step up and order one. But, now when I'm on the go I can't get here

I would like some help on putting my site into an app. I will soon have a mobile view of my forum basically the site detects the browser and serves up the mobile theme. Similar to how Welcome to Facebook | Facebook. What is the simplest way of putting this an app form?

When I had my blackberry storm I could click on picture to view it larger and a black "see through" page would open up with the enlarged picture viewable.Now since I switched to the Motorola Droid when I try to enlarge a picture all I get is the black screen with no picture.

Is there an application in the Market that will make it possible to upload direct from the camera to enable images to be inserted into forums. Either direct into the forum post, or via a hosting site like imageshack.

When I was on 2.1 xt9 predictive text worked on the net and posting on forums but now on froyo I cant get it work but it will when i send a message so it got to be working. Can any body see if it works for them on froyo on the net as i think it must be a bug.

Being a geek, I've been very interested in getting a Droid, and in anticipation, have been following this forum since day one.I've been to the Verizon store a few times to play with the Droid, and was comparing it to the Eris today when an employee came over and started chatting with me.He had a Droid, so I asked him how he liked it, etc, etc. I mentioned how I knew quite a bit about the device just from reading up on it online. I asked him about the keyboard, and what his take was.He mentioned the lack of raised keys, etc., and then said his main complaint was that there was no way to 'lock' the Alt key so he could type numbers - and he proceeded to show me how you had to hold the Alt key down, and type with the other hand.Then I mentioned to him that I thought all you needed to do was double-tap the alt key to lock it. He did that and was amazed that it was that simple, and thanked me for the tip.Perhaps this forum should be mandatory reading for all Verizon employees?

I figure it is done by the app somewhere.

If so, do you think they shake their heads in disgust that we have to change or enhance everything they do? Or do they glow with pride, knowing that they have developed something that struck a creative chord with so many people and that their product is something we just can't get enough of? It just may be some of the Moto-gurus themselves who prompt and post some of the modifications and changes that get us nudged into one astonishing direction or another. I can think of several helpful members here now that I would not be a bit surprised if I found that they were co-creators and architects of the Droid. Hats off and thanks to you, either way! If you guys are out there reading this thread. you guys rule!

Many of us have experienced some battery life fall out since the last update. I mentioned this in the battery life thread but I thought it deserved it own topic. I have an app that I downloaded called battery status. it has a battery history. and it says time without sleeping 7h 10m 25s ago. Thats exactally when I unplugged my phone. This explains why I am seeing 2-3% per hour loss while not using the phone and while in airplane mode. Before the update I could keep the phone in airplane mode, not usre it, and leave work with over 94% battery life. So this proves that somehow the phone is not going into sleep mode... I can guarantee that everyone else in that is experiencing battery drain since the sept 16th update is due to this reason. The question is... why the hell is this happening and why won't the phone go into sleep mode?

On my Vibrant I have both the standard "green battery" icon in my taskbar, as well as a downloaded battery percentage icon. I've noticed that the standard icon does a really poor job tracking the actual battery percentage. For example, the percentage will show 35%, but the icon will still appear two-thirds green.

I have a sprint GNex. I just started having this problem recently (but before the 4.3 update). I plug my phone in overnight and at some point in the middle of the night an error occurs that make the phone think it is off the charger and has a fully depleted battery. The battery level icon shows no charge and if I pull the phone off the charger it immediately says it has to shut down due to a low battery. However, as soon as I turn it back on it is back to normal with a full charge.

I've noticed that Google maps is always taking up a big portion of the battery in the battery menu. If I freeze it with titanium would that make a significant difference? I use it seldom enough to go thru the trouble of unfreezing it when needed if it's worth it..

Has anyone noticed an increase in battey drain while using the Lookout Mobile Security app? I noticed my battery drain was a little higher than usual today. I also have an app called battery indicator installed and was wondering if those apps cause higher battery drain also?

The internal meter says it is due for charge long before its out of juice. Battery Left widget will give accurate voltage levels, but it too is fooled, even after proper calibration.

Rooted Droid 1, running LFY 1.9 with it's 1ghz kernel, SPRecovery. Had a weird issue recently; the phone displayed that my battery life was at 40%, then probably ~30 minutes later it was down to 20%. I wasn't using it during that time, I just unlocked the screen to check something. Anyway, I opened my browser and within a minute or two I got the "15% battery life remaining" message, prompting me to connect my charger. I decided I would allow the phone to just die and shut itself down. So I waited ~45 minutes and it went down to 10%, then almost immediately to 5%. I turned on the GPS just to make it drain faster... I watched a one-hour television show and when it was over, I glanced over to the phone to see if it had died - nope, still on. I turned the LED light on, leaving the GPS running for ~25 minutes and it finally powered down. Then I plugged it in to charge and left the room. Came back in about 2.5 hours later and picked up the phone - it was very hot. Unlocked the screen and checked SetCPU and it was running ~135?F but it immediately started cooling down. It was fully charged, however so I unplugged it. I went to bed shortly thereafter and the battery life displayed 90% as I set the alarm to wake me up the next morning. I happened to wake up shortly before the alarm was set to go off and I picked up the phone to disable the alarm and noticed the red 'charge me' light blinking - unlocked the screen to see 5% and just then it powered itself down.
TL;DR -- Phone only got hot that one time, phone hasn't gone dead in stand-by mode again like it did that night. Battery drains at a seemingly normal rate based on my regular use from 100% down to 40%, then it rapidly drains after that, always skipping 30% and when it gets down to 5% it stays alive for quite a long time under heavy load. Is there a way to 'teach' the phone how to check and calculate actual and remaining battery % and to display it correctly? Is it kernel-related? I heard somewhere about doing a 'battery wipe' but I am unsure what that entails and searches are proving fruitless for me so far.

For some reason my battery is draing QUICK in a couple hours goes dead, thinking must be some bad app? I deleted a few of the last apps I installed but it could be an update, wish it was easier to solve, but now Media is my number one battery usage, even after I uninstalled a couple new apps.
