I have checked and changed settings back and forth, rebooted, etc. It doesn't happen to all sites, but IS happening more frequently on a variety of sites I regularly browse. Even if I take the "m." out of the address, it still happens.

i have just brought the HTC D HD and i was wondering if anyone know's how to view the normal websites and not mobile versions. For example I search for youtube in google and it always brings up the mobile version, but i want the web version you get on laptops, can anyone help?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI hate being forced by some websites to view their functionally challenged "mobile" version. The standard versions look amazing on the Droid! I assume the sites are reading the useragent string from the browser and forcing the redirect. Any way to change what the useragent is reporting? I've searched quite a bit and haven't found a resolution.

I enter my username and password, hit log in, and nothing. is this a common problem with the stock browser? I'm new to Android and not sure if there's something wrong with my settings or what, but I'm kind of mad about this. Any suggestions? And I would like to use the stock browser if I can, rather than download another one.

I'm using the Dolphin Browser and struggling to figure out how to get back to the mobile versions of sites. I know it was sending me to the mobile engadget site there at first, but lately I can only get to the full site. I'd really rather see the mobile one for loading time purposes. I remember on my Hero there was an option buried in the menu for this, but I can't find it on the Droid. Does it matter that I'm in Dolphin instead of the stock browser? And doesn't AndroidForums have a mobile version as well? Can't seem to get to that either.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm currently having an issue where my browser shuts down when I open certain websites. In particular. androidforums.com. The strange thing is it doesn't force close. The screen just goes black momentarily, then I'm back at my home screen. It's happening on all browsers, so it's not an application issue. I've never had this issue before, and I recently installed Hydra Kernel #3 (UV/OV 1.15 w/ N). Is this something other people are experiencing in conjunction with a hydra kernel? If not, do any of you guys know what could be causing this?

Example, when I go to Ebay.com the web browser re-directs me to m.Ebay.com which is the mobile version of the web site.
Im using the standard browser, when I go into Settings > Advanced Settings -- Website Settings- View advanced settings for individual websites is greyed out
Sometimes, after the phone has been in sleep mode for awhile, when I hit the power button to wake it back up and then the menu button (or swipe) to open the screen, I get that circular bar pattern followed by what look like the browser trying to launch. The screen is white, with a white address bar area, too. Then that screen goes back to the circular bar pattern, followed by the white browser screen again, after which it just closes. Very odd. Doesn't do it all the time. Seems to be random. And after a hard reset, sometimes the first time or two I use the browser, it just force closes on me. Again, doesn't do it all the time. (At first I thought I accidentally hit the home button, or something, but I didn't.)

I have factory reset, uninstalled everything, still the same. If I clear the cookies, cache, etc, and remove my homepage of google.co.uk, it seems fine. The T-Mobile default homepage works fine if I type a capital A. If I set Google.co.uk, and type a capital A, it force closes.
Hmm....and after a bit of digging....it only seems to do it on Google Mobile sites. Classic Google.com and .co.uk are fine. Google force loses, as does .com/m.
Anyone have the same issue, or know whats causing this?
Is there a setting somewhere in the stock browser that will force pages to open in full version instead of the mobile version?

cant get any websites through the browser! whats going on! is this a fault on the phone?
I can't get the stock player to even open before it force closes and boots me out. The problem only recently started and since I've had to use another player, while good, I still prefer the stock version. The only thing I can think of that would have caused problems was that I created a new folder in my SD card for all my music and directed the stock player to that folder. I didn't have any problems after doing this but a month or so later this started happening. I really don't want to do another factory reset but I'll approach that if necessary.

The stock browser has an option under settings to turn off mobile view, and it usually works.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI can't find a setting that allows me to just see the regular versions of websites, as opposed to the mobile versions. Some sites give an option after opening in Mobile v, but i'd rather disable it altogether. At least for some sites it'd be nice. So far, the 4G seems to handle the full versions pretty well IMO.
