View 4 RepliesI already misplaced my manual, because apparently I am a very careless person - could anybody direct me to where I can set the phone so it does not default me to mobile websites (touch.facebook.com or m.cnn.com) but always takes me to the URL I actually request?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI hate being forced by some websites to view their functionally challenged "mobile" version. The standard versions look amazing on the Droid! I assume the sites are reading the useragent string from the browser and forcing the redirect. Any way to change what the useragent is reporting? I've searched quite a bit and haven't found a resolution.

View 1 Replies View RelatedTo make any and all websites see your phone as a desktop "Open your browser, enter "about:debug" (without quotes )into the address bar, then hit the "Go" button on your keyboard—don't tap the search/URL suggestion that comes up. You'll notice that the browser now does, well, nothing. But hit your Menu key, choose the "More" option, then select Settings. Scroll down some, and you'll see a new collection of advanced options there, including a "UAString" option. Click that, then choose between Android, desktop, or iPhone user strings to change what browser web sites think you're visiting with. "

View 3 Replies View RelatedYou are all likely going to laugh at this, and I admit, you have every right too. For the first time today I am trying to enable the wifi on my droid when I am at home and have been unable to get it to work.
I turned it on, connected it to my home Wifi, used the correct password, and it says it is connected, and has been assigned an IP addressed. However, it isn't connecting to any websites or anything else in any of the browsers.
I have tried both the native and dolphin.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'd like to know is there some android application that can control my 2G/3G settings based on a rule (something like AutomateIt, which does not do that) so that it stops my phone from trying to connect to 3G network when signal is low or lost?
Let me explain - I go twice a week to a gym which is actually in the basement of a building, and my carrier's network is very weak there, mostly no signal at all. During those 2hrs period I've noticed that my battery drainage is larger than when I'm in the reach of the network.
Since I know that cell phones tries to log-on to the network using maximum power, and that 3G uses more juice than 2G, I concluded that my phone is trying to reconnect to 3G network when it looses signal instead of doing nothing.
Now, I don't exactly know how phones in general behave when they loose signal alltogether (I think they go from 3G down to 2G and then should go into some passive, listening-only mode, waiting for the beacon from the cell tower), but I guess that in such cases it would be better for me to force the phone to go to 2G (and keep reconnecting/listening on 2G) and later on, when it detects 3G, switch back to it.
Unfortunately, Automate It does not have radio control and I can't use it like I do at night to turn off sync and data and turn it on in the morning. Also it does not have a rule related to network signal strength/type/whatever.
I can't use some timer app that would simply turn on/off airplane mode during that period, because I might not go to the gym sometimes, or I might simply be late or leave the gym later, so I'd still have larger battery drainage, even for a short period of time.
Randomly the messaging app from HTC (the one that comes with the phone) forces itself to close and then deletes all my texts. It happens when I'm not using the phone or using the phone, and at any given time. Sometimes I get an error that says 'Force Close' or 'Wait' and sometimes I don't get any error.
Does anyone have some insight on whats going on here? I've reset/turned off the phone numerous times, but did not fix this issue.
It was thread about forcing your evo to roam on 3g data network. I was able to find threads about the hero but now the Evo. VZW works great at the cabin but sprint I have to walk out to the street and it will not roam onto VZW for some reason.....I have goggled and searched all the usual forums.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm working with an ARM based development board running Android 2.3.3, that's connected to a monitor via a VGA cable. Due to a lack of a touchscreen I'm controlling the device via keyboard and mouse.
The main Android desktop displays fine, however when I open certain apps, the orientation is wrong. It thinks its in portrait mode when it should in fact be displayed in a landscape mode. Since the development board lacks gyroscopes, this has me craning my neck to navigate the app. It wouldn't be so bad but on top of that, the mouse cursor doesn't go down beyond about 75% of the screen, leaving the bottom 25% of the app inaccessible.
Is there any way I can force a system-wide landscape orientation, either via some settings, or some adb command?
Ok, right now i own a Galaxy Player YP-G1, rooted it with SuperOneClick like a week ago looking for a way to make battery last for longer time. Actually i've got good results after installing SetCPU and doing some reseach about how to config it.
However i still have a problem related to the GPS radio. It keeps turning on even if i disable it in the status bar and in the device's configuration menu. I've realized this GPS thing drains battery too much and haven't found a way to force it to stay off. Always turns on by itself whatever i do.
Tried to disable autorun on all apps that used GPS localization with Gemini App Manager, still turns on...
I'd like to know if there's a rooted way to keep this off. Yesterday it turned on in the morning and even having used the music player for less than an hour the battery died extremely fast! and another days that it has stayed off battery has lasted until late night. It has to the GPS.
i have a moto g 16gb version. actually i want to use only 3g at my location. but my phone is set to preferred 3g mode which means that it uses 3g only when 3g signals are good. so there is no option of using only wcdma or 3g. also tried the phone testing app but no gain.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've bought a THL W8S cell phone. The problem is, this cell doesn't support WCDMA 900 band. Only 850 and 2100. The phone operator (Wind) in my zone only support WCDMA900, so if I switch it in 3G the phone lost signal. If I keep it in 2G, it works fine but data navigation is slow.
I need to know if there's any way to force THL W8S to receive WCDMA900, or I will be forced to resend cell to China.
I have a device that since being flashed with new rom (kept original boot.img) boots up and everything is seemingly okay....... BUT.... Once the device is locked however, it stays in Negative/Inverted color mode. I was wondering if there is a way to modify a script, xml, or the UI fragments so that this won't happen any longer. The only way to return to normal colors is to reboot the device, and rebooting 12-20 times a day is too much. I will also mention, although it's on 4.1.2, there is no option for inverted display mode under Accessibility settings.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've checked the various forums and it appears that others have the same issue as I do. Basically, when I am connected to WiFi, I cannot send emails. When not connected to WiFi, I can send emails. This is a case for my email account with Shaw Cable (my home Internet provider). I have no problems sending emails from my Hotmail account on WiFi or not. The reason appears to be that my wireless carrier, Bell Canada, does not allow me to use my home Internet provider's (Shaw Cable) SMTP server to send emails. If I am on WiFi on my home email, I can send emails via Shaw's SMTP server. If I am not on WiFi, I have to use my wireless carrier's (Bell) SMTP server to send emails.
However, If I do this, when I use my WiFi at home, Shaw does not allow me to use Bell's SMTP server to send emails. The way I can always send emails where ever I am is if my email app only uses my wireless carrier to send emails. The email app on my phone, the Desire Z, will always use WiFi if it is available. Only if WiFi is not available will it use my wireless carrier. I cannot seem to find a way to force my email app to only use my wireless carrier. If someone figured out otherwise, please let me know. I have recently switched to an HTC Desire Z from a Nokia N97. When I had the N97 (which runs Symbian), I have always been able to send and receive email where ever I am. For web browsing, it uses WiFi if it is available and switches to my wireless carrier if not.
I am very disappointed that it appears the Desire Z is not able to do the same (unless there is a way and I just haven't figured it out). I have managed to figure out a workaround to my situation. If I send an email from my home, I will simply turn off WiFi. After sending my email, I'll turn WiFi back on. Although this works, this is just really combersome. Even though I'm at home, I do not always have my PC on to send emails and I am not going to wait several minutes for my PC to turn on so I can send an email. If it is a short email, I would rather reply via my phone rather than turn on my computer. Although manually toggling WiFi for sending emails is not too combersome, my expectation from a smartphone as advanced as the Desire Z is that I do not have to do that.
I have a custom view i am writing for my drawing app but the first time i set the drawing into it i need to get the dimension for the view (using getMeasuredWidth() & getMeasuredHeight()). But until the view display these return 0. I have tried calling: requestLayout() invalidate() numDraw.measure(MeasureSpec.EXACTLY, MeasureSpec.EXACTLY); but nothing seems to force the values to update.I guess the question i am asking is : does anyone have any tips on how to get view to update its measurements off screen?
