HTC Incredible :: Trim Listings In Phone Book

Is there a way to remove specific entries in the default phone book on the Dinc? If you have multiple phone numbers entered for a contact, all of them appear as as option for sending a text message. I would like to remove the "send message" entry for all non-mobile numbers. I see that there is a default phone number option for each contact. Is the same option to pick a default number for messaging? If so, that would help the mobile number for sms stand out in the list. I have sent a few texts to home or work phone numbers accidentally and I am trying to idiot proof my contact lists.

I have two messages listings under share via in photos? As in two separate stock messaging programs listed when I click share in photos.... strange part is one logo seems be lower resolution than the other.... any one know what thats about?

For some reason I can not get my google account to receive numbers from my droids phonebook. If I add a number on my google email and sync my phone the number is there immediately, but if the number is added on my phone google does not get it in gmail. What can I do to fix this?

The biggest reason I wanted a data phone was so I could check facebook from work (blocked), or while out and about.
When I got the Incredible, I found out that all the Facebook apps do the stupid "Top News" only, and you can't change it to view all the recent new. The only way I could find to get around it was to click on "Full Site" at the bottom of the mobile site page, click on "Most Recent" when the page loaded, then often the link wouldn't actually work but if I hit "refresh" the page would reload with "Most Recent" selected and the most recent posts all listed out. A real pain, but possible.
But when I try the same thing on my Fascinate, I just get a big blank page with no status updates.
Is there any way to view the full, regular, "Most Recent" post list on the Fascinate?

I am one of those crazy types with 2000+ Facebook friends for games and such. When I get my DInc. (hopefully this week or early next week.) and do the contact merger thing, Do I have to merge in all of my Facebook friends? Or can I just pick a filter like Family and Close Friends only? This would bring the total merged contacts down to a much more manageable 100+ or so. Really do not want 2000 people on my phone, that would be a mess! If there is no option other than all or none, I may have to start a new facebook account just to limit the chaos.

When I pull up the phone on my Incredible, it lists every contact in the world, including everyone from Facebook. I went into my sync settings and unsynced Facebook contacts, but they're still showing up in my phonebook.

Does anybody know a program or app that i can sync my contact photos from my phone address book to my gmail or even outlook address book... with blackberry i could sync it to outlook then to gmail, but with the INC i have not found a solution.

Does Cyanogenmod 11 which is based on Android Kitkat 4.4.2 Support "TRIM" ?? I watched a video last week about the importance of this feature FOR android 4.3 and up ... I just want to know if this ROM support it ?!

In an Android app, I am looking for the functionality of the .NET string function [Trim('aaa')] which will trim off the text "aaa" off a string. I don't think this is natively available in Java and I haven't seen that functionality in Android Java textutil library. Is there an easy way to have a Java app trim a set of characters from the string?

I'm using a galaxy note 10.1 2013 edition, and was wondering if there are any apps that allow the same functions of the 4.3 trim (clearing cache). If there aren't any, I don't mind having to manually clear cache, but is it possibly to do it without rooting?

Can anyone suggest a good addressbook. The one that comes native to Incredible poorly shows address information. Also, is it combine exchange mail and pop mail so that it just all goes into one mailbox?

You can't even read an entire address (city/zip code). If I am doing something wrong please let me know or if you know of an alternative address book please share.

I wanted to see if my Skype name was in my contact card, so I clicked on the People icon, found my name in the list and clicked on it. I saw my home and work addresses were given twice, so I clicked Edit, and up popped six optional contacts to edit! Three were listed with my name; one of those had my Google contact photo. The other three were my individual email addresses. This has happened before. Why the multiple choices for a contact to edit when it's only one contact (me)? (I'm using an Eris with Android 2.1.)

I have a friend that texted me and his name, number, and facebook picture came up as expected. Later on when I went to call him, turns out he isn't in my "People" application. However, if I click the search button within the "People" app and look for his name he comes right up. If I open his contact info up, I can't add him to my contacts or anything like that. Do "Facebook Only" contact not show in the People app?

How can I find what apps have an update available? I know on the task bar it will display this, but sometimes I will pull down that and then do something else and not download the updates and then when I go back to the task bar and pull it down that update listing is gone. How can I manually find that listing again?

I am trying to add the full screen style face book widget to one of my home screens but it always adds the small one without asking me which style I want. To reproduce this you can add the small one to a screen, then delete it, then try to add the face book widget again and it won't ask you which style this time.

I have my HTC Desire and the Facebook application is the worst thing it should happen. It sync all my friends phone numbers and mixes with all my other phone numbers. Can some one in clear state of mind ask Android/Facebook to give us the option to select what friends we want in our phone list? I like the Facebook app but deleted it once it messes my phone!

I'm using Handcent (recent convert from BB) I have a few shortcuts setup for frequent persons I text but wondered the fastest way to compose a text for a random person in my address book. Here's what I've done:
1. press Handcent
2. press top left icon for new message
3. press + sign
4. scroll list for contact
5. press check mark
6. press check mark to select mobile phone
7. press ok
8. press menu
9. press "end select"
10. compose text.
so, that's nuts. The other way I've tried is:
1.press people shortcut
2. scroll list for contact
3. press contact
4. Look at the 3 entries for "send message" (my example contact) and try and remember which is the cell phone.
5. press send message.
6. compose text
So I guess the second way is better but I'd rather not have to figure which is the cell phone and rather than scrolling to find the name I'd rather type first letters of name.

Is there an easier way to move certain facebook contacts to my main address book? right now I've been creating new contacts in my address book and then syncing it to their facebook account. Am I missing something?
