This is more of a preemptive post for anyone that comes into the same issue as I did.My Swype was not working, so I had to uninstall, run the installer again, put in my Swype beta information to login, downloaded the app again and it worked fine afterwards.Just don't panic if it happens to you too.

Well, just got the expired swype message yesterday. I registered on swype, got the activation email, but when I clicked the link on the phone I see a screen that says, Sorry! This is not an Android phone. DINC btw.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just installed a custom ROM (LeeDroid 2.1a with A2SD+), which installs Froyo version of Android. (Apps install on an EXT3 partition of the SD Card, that the phone thinks is internal memory). However, roughly 25% of apps don't work (ie. Swype, HTC's More Widgets (ie. Dice), TypoClock) . Whether I use Sense or LauncherPro, the same result. Either they don't show up in the app drawer (but can be seen in Applications), or can't be launched (via Quick Info). The apps installed via the Android Market show as installed, but the OPEN button is greyed out.These are apps that worked before on 2.1 Eclair. So with no more info than "Cannot launch application", I can't figure out if its Froyo or the custom ROM (LeeDroid A2SD+) that's the "root" of the problem.

The instructions on the various pages I've found simply state "Transfer the package file to your SD card." Okay, great. So uh, how does one go about doing that? When I plug the Evo into my computer as a disk I'm not seeing any folders that look like they could be the SD card's storage. So how does one move files to it?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just got my Droid an hour ago! That means I don't really know what I'm going. I installed Astro. I downloaded the Sype Beta to my PC and unzipped the files. I copied the unzipped folder to my SD card. Astro finds the folder, but I can't figure out how to install it?!? I see the Astro options at the top, but install is not one of them. I'm sure the answer is obvious, but I'm blinded by my new toy right now.

I installed Swype beta on my Droid during the recent beta invitation, and it suddenly got to the point where it just won't function at all beyond swyping one word. Then it locks up. Although this has happened since installing GDE Home, Swype still locks up when used with GDE closed and running the default home. In general, GDE seems to slow my Droid, but I can't find an explanation for Swype not working. The android keyboard works well in its own right with GDE, but of course it sucks when you're used to Swyping. I'm out of ideas!

I followed the directions and when I try to change inputs an error message pops up stating the screen resolution doesn't match. Anyone get this email and the error? So after this 2.2 update, i have been slowly starting to use the native messaging app again, and i can honestly say it is finally on par with chomp. Minus the customization of notifications and backgrounds and whatnot, all of which i dont really use, i am wondering if i should do away with chomp and go back to the stock app? The only thing i think i would miss about chomp is how i have it set so when i get a text the screen lights up so i can slide down and read it without having to press the lock button up top. Thoughts?

A Verizon tech installed Backup Assistant onto my phone when he transferred my old contacts to my Incredible, and I see it running in the background all the time. Is this enough for my 'backup' when i do a factory reset? I don't see an actual app or anything. Thanks in advance for the help!

View 5 Replies View RelatedSo the other day I went to download an app out of the market. The download finished, but it seems my phone decided to auto-reboot itself in the midst of the installation. After the reboot completes, I go back to the market, reselect the app, and it's hung at "Installing..." (And when I say "hung," the market is still fully functional except that one app). I'm given no option to cancel the installation. Killing the market app then trying to go back in has no effect - same deal. Hung on install. Another reboot didn't help.
Is there any way to delete the install package and make the market forget I even tried in the first place?
It's Angry Birds (wanted to see what all the fuss was about), but the install seems to have failed in a way that any app install could have failed.
Pre-Froyo streaming video used to be pretty good on Incredible. My work often involves repetitive tasks, and the streaming video on my Incredible was, if not incredibly fast, good enough that I could catch up on TV shows which I could not make time for at home. Now, after a factory reset and Froyo, the sites which I used to stream these shows from no longer work properly on my Incredible. I actually tried several of them, including zshare, novamov, smotri, wisevid, divxden - most of these worked good enough prior to Froyo, now they all act strangely, just enough to waste my time, and then crash.
I almost thought I was ready to stop burning time making Incredible and Android work for me, and start making it work in my life. A deciding factor which sold me on this phone was the streaming video capability which others lacked at the time - and why should any smart phones not have this capability, which has been available on PCs for 10 years, in a time when smart phones can download web pages nearly as fast as Road Runner service actually does? Now that Verizon and HTC have my money, they start restricting what I can do with it, just like everybody else. Screw you, Android, HTC, Verizon, and every fanboy who defends the trojan horse they call Froyo! You fanboys, especially, who enable these frauds with your relativistic arguments. Yes, I probably am using Android and not an Apple phone because I like bluetooth, wi-fi, and my own choice of battery power, but none of that excuses the promise of features which don't actually perform - this is what the unbrainwashed would call fraud!
