So i just flashed to r7. and previously from the stock no twiz 1.5. ive been using swype flashed r1 then r6 and now r7 however with R7 i get an error msg.. "package failed to install" ive tried deleting every instance of swype.. no luck.. anyone else have this problem?

I have some problem installing my apk file in code. Wondering if anyone could find out what I did wrong.
What I was trying to do is put a Check Upgrade function in our program. When user clicks it, it will send request to our web server and find out what is the latest version. I use app versionName to stamp a version, something like 2010.11.23. I don't use the version code in Manifest.xml file. So our program sees the latest VersionName is later than itself, it will download the latest one, and then use the following code to install the new apk file:

Now looks like, everytime when I changed the VersionName, it will fail to install the apk file. It downloads the file fine. I don't know exactly why. Sometimes, in Eclips, when I hit debug, I got error saying "Re-installation failed due to different application signatures". I don't know if this is the same error caused the installation failed.
So, looks like my questions are:
Should that upgrade logic work? I am wondering if it has something to do with the VersoinName.
What could cause the application signature change? (I did sign our program before I put it on our server, but I always use the same key file for different versionName. )
Can someone please post the new Swype from the 1.6 OTA I been hearing that it works better than the one on take5 ROM?

Although it has it advantages and disadvatages over swype, I still like it! Sorry for posting this in the "root" forum, lol I forgot about the regular forum!

Till then, I was wondering if anyone had the version of swype with all the languages, or a package to add certain languages? i have searched for a while, but cant seem to find the download anywhere.
I'm sorry if this is a nub question, but is there a leaked version of Swype for the BH2? I was under the impression it only works in 1.6, but who knows with what people are capable now days.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI've been using Take5 for quite awhile now; however, recently, I decided to flash to the official 1.6 OTA release just out of curiosity. After playing around with it for a little while, I decided to flash back to Take5 (because I missed having root and I really don't like TouchWiz). After flashing back to Take5, I noticed that my baseband was still the new one (T939UVJE2) and I thought to myself, alright I got the new baseband out of this. Anyways, on to Swype... The official 1.6 OTA release includes a newer version of Swype than Take5. Upon testing it, I found it to work a little better than the one in Take5 (slightly more accurate and a little faster). Could someone please send me the new version of the swype apk that's included in 1.6 OTA release?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got the email saying that there was an update for the swype beta. In order to update you have to uninstall the installer and the keyboard. I am on bhmans take 5 so i removed it from system/app and wiped the data then attempted to install it and it wont even open it just force closes constantly.

I have lost contact information twice (once going to Galaxy, and again when coming back to TW for the update). I have Exchange email configured as well, but none of my contacts reside in that "addressbook" as far as I can tell everything should be being saved back to Google. I have contacts that exist on in Google (verified from my computer) that I updated phone numbers for that disappeared after I did a factory wipe. My sync settings are all checked and from everything I can tell I should be syncing continuously. Clearly I must be missing something, but I have no idea what it is. That "data in the cloud" safety net has not worked for me twice and I'd like not to get burned again.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have had this phone since April and it has been pretty disappointing overall with the whole not upgrading to Android 2.1 and such, but that's not the issue right now. I bought a new laptop about 2 weeks ago and I want to use my phone with my laptop. I download the drivers for the phone and they could not install and everytime I connect the phone to the computer it says the device is not recognized. The phone now can't connect and I can't see the files that are on the phone. I want to be able to put music and videos on my phone and I can't now. It works perfectly fine one my desktop which is an XP, but I wont be able to use the desktop because I will be leaving for college soon.

I'm trying to copy Arabic fonts from the memory card into the phone but am running into a problem after running adb shell. The device is recognized by the pc and lists it as "sgh-t939". But the second command I think it wants to remount the memory card [ remount rw ] and I'm encountering a problem -- displays "remount: not found" I am simply following directions for adding the same fonts from a rooted galaxy. I have highlited where I'm stuck in red.

If you want to run your phone twice as fast without rooting, just install PandaHome [free] from the Market. It takes the phone from being utterly dead to very usable. I read there is another home replacement but its not free like pandahome. I like the behold 2 but I'm not sure why samsung decided to destroy a good thing. This could have been a very successful model had they just left the OS alone and not included bloat software.

I've only just noticed it in my 'manage applications' - I'm sure it never used to appear at the top of the list - and I'm tight on memory - so when it takes up 13mb as it does now I'm a bit stuck.
Can I click 'clear data' on it - or will that remove apps? There is no option to clear cache - all 13mb is listed in the Data.

Is there any way of installing an app through any other means than clicking on the .apk file in the folder?
Would it be possible to manually extract the apk archive and move the files to appropriate folders somewhere in /root/?
Googling around I found a beta download of Swype. The thing is, I can't for the life of me figure out how to install it. The instructions on the various pages I've found simply state "Transfer the package file to your SD card." Okay, great. So uh, how does one go about doing that? When I plug the Evo into my computer as a disk I'm not seeing any folders that look like they could be the SD card's storage. So how does one move files to it?
