HTC Incredible : Rates At A Local Golf Course - Download It To Sd Card
Jun 26, 2010
I went online to check the rates at a local golf course, had to download it to sd card because they have it as a pdf file, no problems. I decided that i would send this file to a friend, wanted to send it via text, couldn't figure it out, then tried to send it as an email couldn't figure that out either. There must be a way to do this, or maybe I need a app that I don't know about. Any help would be great, Thanks

I'm looking for an app that will act as a scorecard and also be able to track stats such as fairways hit, greens in regulation, up & downs, sand saves, etc. Added bonus if it will calculate my handicap. Anyone out there have any favorites? Paid apps are okay. GPS distances are not a priority for me.

How is it that the iPhone always has an App for watching live golf tournaments? I know once we get Froyo this should not be an issue, but is it not possible to have an App for our Android phones?

Is there a way to download movies to the sd card or to the phones memory from the phone? Like downloading a torrent to the phone. Also if that is possible, what would I use to watch it on the device? Even if there is a way I can pay for the movie and watch it from my phone. The hard drive in my laptop cramped the bed so i have to wait for my new one to get here that is why I am wondering if there is a way to do all of this directly from the phone.

1) how do I view what's on my SD card?? And how do I even put things there in the first place?
2) I see all this talk about app killers (pro/con) but I don't know if there is a way to actually close apps properly. Is there?
3) if I download something form the internet (like say a menu from a restaurant) how do I go and find that later??

My audio analysis application needs a microphone sample rate of greater than 8000 Hz.At least 11025 Hz is required. It seems that some phones support a higher rate and some are limited to 8000 Hz.Does anyone know what percentage of Android phones will support the higher sample rate? And if I do develop this app, how can a potential customer determine whether or not his particular phone supports the higher sampling rate?

I'm based in the US and if I go into my google checkout merchant account and go into tax settings, there are only options for setting tax rates for US states. Aren't we supposed to charge VAT taxes if we sell ( via Android Market/Google Checkout) internationally?
Not that I would know how to actually pay those countries their taxes.
Do I in fact owe taxes to other countries if I'm in the US and selling software (apps) say to the UK? My company has physical presence in only one US state. For sales to US customers that typically means I only have to charge (the customer) and pay (the state) sales tax when the "shipping address" of the customer is in the same state that my company has a presence in.
But how is it supposed to work for sales from US to other countries, and where do we set this up in Google Checkout and how (if in fact we owe those countries their tax money) do we actually go about paying them?

There has been considerable disparity regarding Droid users battery life post update. I was one reporting very disappointing results. My phone usually would come off the charger at 6AM and down to 20% by noon with moderate use. I went out and bought a new battery and my phone went till about PM yesterday before I hit 20%. Went back to the old battery and again I'm. nearly drained by 2PM. Clearly my two batteries discharge at different rates. This probably explains why people are describing such different results.

I've had the Galaxy for over 3 weeks now, and it seems that no matter what I do, I can't get the battery to last a day even. Even killing apps, shutting of all networks and GPS, even turning on Airplane mode... the battery drains at alarming rates. It seem that the Galaxy simply does not go to sleep. On analyzing the battery history, the phone seems to be spending ridiculous times running with the screen off. From about 90% when running "normally" to even 20% to 30% with everything turned off. I'd like to hear other people's experiences.

I know a big nation wide "meet and greet" had been discussed which sounds fun but $$$$$ so I was wondering if anyone was gonna start "local" support groups in their cities/towns.I think it would be a great idea to get to meet other "incredible" people in my town which we can share thoughts, tips and tricks with about our phone.Anyone in Naples, Marco, Bonita, Florida wanna get together after we get our phones and do a little "show and tell"?

Finally broke down and rooted tonight.Picked up Wireless Tether from the market, had everything set kept getting limited access messages on my laptop.Did some searching and came across the solution to manually download the apk and a .bin file and put it in the android.tether directory on sd card. Was finally able to connect from my laptop. However, my connection is limited to "local only".I have tried using the access control, disabling access control, turning on encryption, disabling encryption, etc.Every time I connect, local only.I've flushed my IP info on the laptop and still local only. What do I need to do to get full access?

Looking for a tip here.
How do you look up a local phone number (for calling) or address (for nav).
I have tried Yellow Pages, magnifying glass (search), and a few other apps but nothing is working great for finding the closest Pizza Hut for example (had a gift certificate). What do you use?

I published an application that stores data in a local database.
Now I have to publish an update to this application to fix some little bugs, but I am afraid that downloading and installing the update will delate the local database associated with the previous version.
I would like to know how the update system works. Will installing an update completely delete all the apk, files, databases associeted with the previous version?
If so, how can I avoid this in my code?

I'm heading to Halifax, Nova Scotia for a week and will be bringing my Hero with me. I'll be calling Sprint customer support to see what options are available for voice and data, but I trust the advice of folks in this forum.
Is there any international voice and data plan that i can sign up for so that I don't end up paying sky-high roaming rates? I really don't want to have to keep my phone in airplane mode the whole week. Any advice from travelers to the "Great White North" would really be appreciated, eh?

I have all of my contacts stored as (xxx) xxx-xxxx. When I am within my own area code, I have always only dialed the last seven digits (no area code). When I do this, my Incredible doesn't recognize it as a stored contact.
I've tried storing it in different ways, xxx-xxx-xxxx, xxxxxxxxx, etc, but I do not seem to be able to make it hapen.
From what I've read, one solution is to dial the area code everytime, but who wants to do that in a local setting? Very annoying every smartphone I've ever had prior to this was able to interpret the last seven as the contact when the phone is in the default area code (and yes, mine is set to my area code).

Wondering what the experiences have bee with using the Evo with a golf gps app. I have used the iPhone and it is pretty accurate. I am test driving a Captivate, in anticipation of the Epic, and the GPS is awful (as documented on this forum). The Epic GPS issue is causing me to look at the Evo instead. I use GPS while traveling all the time and is a must have. I figure if the Evo is accurate on the golf course it will be great on the road.

just downloaded this yesterday and it really has potential! powered by the golf channel, this thing will search for deals for you. just plug in the state, day you want to play, # of golfers, and the kind of discount you want and it'll find it for you. this app is still young so i think it has lots of potential. only has south jersey for right now.
