Aug 5, 2009I've been hearing that with android you cannot install apps on an SD memory card? Does that mean you have to use the onboard memory of 512mb? That wont hold many apps AT ALL. If so that is a horrible choice by HTC to not incorporate a big storage and forget about the use of an SD card.

Anyways, I've been reading that you cannot install applications to the SD card of a Nexus One, only to the very small 512mb internal memory. I'm wondering what I need to do to be able to install all the apps and games I download and install to the SD card, so I do not run out of space.

Sep 19, 2010I am going to try to hard reset my Incredible in hopes it fixes a couple problems I'm seeing since getting 2.2. I want to back up my apps though, so I go into manage applications and pick an app, but the 'move to SD card' option is grayed out. Also, to hard reset all I have to do is from home screen touch menu-settings-privacy- factory data reset - reset phone. Or is there something I should do instead?

Also if that is possible, what would I use to watch it on the device? Even if there is a way I can pay for the movie and watch it from my phone. The hard drive in my laptop cramped the bed so i have to wait for my new one to get here that is why I am wondering if there is a way to do all of this directly from the phone.

Jun 26, 2010I went online to check the rates at a local golf course, had to download it to sd card because they have it as a pdf file, no problems. I decided that i would send this file to a friend, wanted to send it via text, couldn't figure it out, then tried to send it as an email couldn't figure that out either. Jun 27, 2010I just got the Evo on Sprint today. Everything works fine but cannot download any apps. I have spent several hours today going through various message boards. I have rebooted the phone several times. I updated the profile and PRL. I have turned on the wi-fi and turned off the wi-fi. I downloaded the HTC sync to my laptop and tried connectig through there (really just reaching for straws at this point).
I even found this procedure and did this as well "1. With the phone turned off, press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then briefly press the POWER button. 2. Apr 13, 2010I am new on here as I only got my HTC Hero the other day, and while trawling the internet for answers this place kept coming up. I have a few questions about this phone, or more to the point, the android OS running it. I see that it only has android 1.5 on it at the moment, and there are no newer upgrades available yet. That said, I've read in numerous places on the net that android 2.1 is coming to the HTC hero at the end of this week or start of next week depending on your network, is this true? What would this upgrade actually improve? My new phone seems pretty stable and usable as it is already, wasn't voted best phone of 2009 for nothing I guess. My second query is about the apps from the android market. When this 2.1 upgrade comes, I expect it'll wipe the phone clean and reinstall with the newer OS. If any apps are already paid for, will I have to pay again to download them a second time? Or is there any way of me backing them up first?

Jun 24, 2010I got the Desire on contract upgrade and have just booted it up.
It appears that it only wants to download some applications with most kicking back a "Download Unsuccessful" including some that I have purchased before.
I am running 2.1 -update 1 right out of the box software number 1.19.161.5
I've tried a factory reset with still no avail.
I'm trying to download it using my wireless router which I'm sitting right beside so signal is no problem.

Feb 17, 2009I follow the instruction to install my toy application, which ran well on my Mac.
1. Within Eclipse, I did "Android Tools-->Export Unsigned Application Package" to save MyApplication.apk into ~/workspace/MyApplication.apk.
2. Now Connect Your G1 Phone to your computer using USB cable. You need to install Drivers for this. Download Android USB drivers from here. This driver is required for adb to interface with an android G1 phone using USB cable.
3. Go to Android Settings/SD card & phone storage and disable Use for USB storage. You can enable it again later after you installed your third-party application.
4. Go to Settings/Application settings and enable Unknown sources.
5. adb install ~/workspace/MyApplication.apk
But this is the error I got: tools > ./adb install ~/Documents/workspace/MyApplication.apk 1644 KB/s (214695 bytes in 0.127s)

Jul 12, 2010Has anyone installed an external app i.e. from an SD card on there Wildfire. If yes, which app did you use. One way to install an external app is through HTC sync, however considering that sync doesn't work with the Wildfire yet, I need to find another way to do this.
