I'm a recent convert to Android from WinMo. With my old phone, it was recommended to turn the phone off several times a week when recharging. On the forums here though, I noticed that most people don't. Is it not necessary with this OS?

Has anyone had any luck with aftermarket power supply's. I'd like a car/ac charger or a stand alone power pack. I usually use my DEXIM. but it does not work with the Behold 2. I've tried a car charger/battery unit by Wireless Gear that said it was compatible with all Samsung phones, it came with 5 power tips and a USB outlet that still would not work, even using the OEM USB cable. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I will go with OEM Samsung if necessary, but there selection is limited.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like the screen to stay on (on whatever brightness it's normally set at) when connected to external power. I've found the Settings/Applications/Development "Stay Awake" checkbox, but the screen still dims down after 30 seconds, though it doesn't go completely off.Is there a way to keep the screen on?All the WinMo phones I had had two separate profiles one for on battery and one for when on a charger, and you could set the screen brightness and timeout independently for each power profile.The reason for this is that I have a dashmount cradle of sorts that I use, and I generally put the phone in it and plug it in when I'm driving any sort of distance. I do things like look at the phone signal, see if new mail comes in, etc. while driving, and it's just reassuring to look down at the phone and see it doing something without having to hit the power button.

I power it off completely every night and then power it back on the next morning to save some battery. I've always done this with my other phones and never had a problem, but this being a smart phone with so many applications running, it's like a computer so I wasn't sure if it's just better to leave it in sleep mode all night instead.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIf you'll recall, the power button, volume rocker, micro usb port as well as backplate were all the infamous red color, prior to the Incredible's release. A few of us actually liked the uniqueness of the red backplate and photos of a version of the phone were even leaked, sporting a black backplate & red buttons.
I noticed yesterday that the micro USB port trim (currently black) has a little piece of the plastic chipped away. The interesting thing I noticed is that, below the black, I can see a hint of the red. Personally, I'd prefer red accents for the three areas.
Searched all over the forums and internet for an answer but came up blank.I downloaded an app called power control and installed it. It screwed up my contact list so I wanted to uninstall it. Not just remove it from my desktop, but full uninstall is what I'm after.Did a search for it in the android market and could not find it anywhere again to uninstall it that way. Tried using Astro File Manager to uninstall but does not show up there.The only place it shows up on my phone is in the bottom menu bar ( menu, phone, + ) I hit + -----> widgets ------> power control. Anybody have an ideas on how to uninstall this thing ?

First of all the highest setting i can see is 998 max. Is this all that Virtuous 2.7 allows for? I'm on custom kernal
Next, Do i really need much processor power at all when screen is off? Why cant i just dial this way down so the battery is barely being used when screen is off? (how low can i go and still have no issues with email/messaging sync?)
Right now I have "screen off" profile set to 284/245. Is this why there is a bit of lag when unlocking? And is did i just answer my own question above? Meaning is this the reason why its not good to crank it way down during screen off?

Just thinking, should the Push Gmail use less battery power than "Pull" such as Yahoo Mail. It would seem that the pull process is having to go look every 15 min and the Push process is merely sending it as it arrives.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe "automatic" brightness setting sucks. It doesn't detect high light situations, like being outdoors. To get the proper brightness you need to use the power control widget to set the brightness up to see it in sunlight. Not a big deal, but after using the widget you either have to manually reset it to automatic in the settings, turn the brightness off or on high. Its just kind of annoying. When your in sunlight without the brightness up to the highest level I can see nothing on the phone. Literally the screen appears to be off. Is this just my phone, or does the incredible really not sense high light situations.

Or do you have to install undervolt to do that? Also can you install both overvolt and undervolt at the same time? (not literally at the same time but have both kernals at once to get the most power and battery saving?)
View 6 Replies View Relatedseems like anything using 3g drains my battery. slacker player saps 30% of a 2600mah battery in a single hour. If I were to be conservative, it would be 25% of a 2200mah, accounting for other parts of the phone and possibly a low quality battery. Even then, that's horrible. It didn't used to be this bad. And now I suspect it's a combination of a new radio update that boosts signal by consuming more power, and the fact that 3g coverage is weak where I'm at (though it worked good enough before the update). So if there's any way to downgrade radio without losing froyo or other phone functionality, or directly influence power consumption of the 3g radio, please let me know.
View 12 Replies View RelatedThis is a problem I've noticed lately that is just killing my battery life. My Incredible never dims on its own. If I press the power button the screen will shut off but lets say I get a text and then I hit the power button, the screen comes on. I respond to the text and then hit home and put my phone down on the desk. The screen will stay on indefinitely. Not charging, completely unplugged the screen will just stay on. Has anyone run accross this and does anyone have any ideas on how to get it to time out again?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI would gladly pay money (and i'm sure a lot of eris -> incredible users would too) for an app/patch to give me the option to use an alternative key/button (menu/home button, or even vol rocker?) to wake up the phone when it's in sleep mode. It was one of the major reasons why I ended up returning the moto droid for an eris (the eris has a power button on the bottom of the phone). Would root be required for this kind of mod?
