View 2 Repliesthe worst thing about the nexus one is that you power on the phone by simply pressing the power button, not by *holding* it. how can I just *check* if the phone is turned off? when i go to a movie, i just want to double-check it's off, so i short-press power button but then if it's already off then i would instead be turning it on and have to wait for the long boot-up process. i just can't "make sure it's off".

View 7 Replies View RelatedTwice this has happened: Turn the phone off to charge, in the morning the phone won't turn on with the power switch. I have to remove the battery and re-install it, for the phone to come on.
Anyone else have this happening?
seems like anything using 3g drains my battery. slacker player saps 30% of a 2600mah battery in a single hour. If I were to be conservative, it would be 25% of a 2200mah, accounting for other parts of the phone and possibly a low quality battery. Even then, that's horrible. It didn't used to be this bad. And now I suspect it's a combination of a new radio update that boosts signal by consuming more power, and the fact that 3g coverage is weak where I'm at (though it worked good enough before the update). So if there's any way to downgrade radio without losing froyo or other phone functionality, or directly influence power consumption of the 3g radio, please let me know.
View 12 Replies View RelatedNot sure if this is a problem with the phone or not-also not sure if it was like it when I got it. I just became aware of the issue on Saturday night.I had the phone on a table and was holding it horizontally-I was trying to get it to switch to landscape view (so I could use full keyboard ) and could not get it to do so. The only sure way I can get it to switch to landscape view is to hold the phone vertically and then have it switch. Is there something wrong with the phone?
View 1 Replies View Relatedmy android phone's power button stopped working a few weeks ago. It wasn't a big problem, but a few days ago, the battery died. Now it is turned off and I can't turn it on. When I put it in charge, it just shows the charging screen. The phone is a Winmax W8000 (Winmax is Bangladeshi company. I'm from Bangladesh). It runs on Jellybean (4.1). It wasn't rooted. I tried to get into Download mode, but pressing the volume buttons and plugging in the charger doesn't work.
View 17 Replies View RelatedA poster said a week ago that basically putting one finger on the top left of your phone with a second on the lower left corner improves signal strength.
Well it works really well at my job (inside a big building) where I usually hover at 100db but using this method I get about 88-90db and adds 2 bars.
So my question is can I do something (or add something) that will duplicate that effect without having to hold my phone with a couple of fingers?
Got a question regarding the lock screen. I'm on 2.3.5 on a Skyrocket. If I let the screen timeout and come back to it in a few minutes, when I power on, no screen lock (just a wallpaper to swipe away). If I use the power button to put it to sleep (not physically power down), the next time I use the power button to turn it on, I'm presented with the pattern unlock screen. Is there a way to use the power button to turn the phone off without being presented with the unlock pattern every time (I'd like it to do this after maybe 15-30 minutes, but not immediately as it seems to be doing it now).

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis might be a dumb question, but does powering the phone on and off shorten the life of the phone? I power it off completely every night and then power it back on the next morning to save some battery. I've always done this with my other phones and never had a problem, but this being a smart phone with so many applications running, it's like a computer so I wasn't sure if it's just better to leave it in sleep mode all night instead.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIf I am on a call and get a second, incoming call. Second call will take a while, so I switch back to first call and say, "Ill call you back." I can't seem to switch to the second call and have the first call drop off, such that there's no longer a "call waiting" screen, EVEN IF the first caller hangs up himself/herself. How can I end the call on hold WITHOUT ending both calls?
View 13 Replies View RelatedI would gladly pay money (and i'm sure a lot of eris -> incredible users would too) for an app/patch to give me the option to use an alternative key/button (menu/home button, or even vol rocker?) to wake up the phone when it's in sleep mode. It was one of the major reasons why I ended up returning the moto droid for an eris (the eris has a power button on the bottom of the phone). Would root be required for this kind of mod?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have an issue with switching between two calls.
You know the screen that shows one call on hold and the other call as active? Say I click on the call that's holding because the first call hung up. My problem is that the first call still shows as holding.
If I simply end the first call, the phone will end ALL calls, and I think this is bad design: the call you're on should be disconnected and the call waiting should become active by default, if you hang up on the first call.
How do I switch to the call holding and get rid of the other call (so, I come out of the call waiting screen back to a regular, "in session" screen") that's no longer in session (other end has hung up)? I
Where do I go to download or how do I get a hold of the sync program for my droid incredible phone if I happen to connect it to the PC? Also, while I am at it. I noticed that a lot of people have the weather cool looking feature on their phones, does that use up your data or is that part of the phone like the clock is?
View 11 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know of any way to get the Incredible to wake up by pressing the optical trac-pad on the front instead of the power button up top?
I find the power button to be annoying and wish both would "wake-up" the screen.
Is there anyway that I can set up my Incredible to use the button where the optical trackpad is to power the screen?

View 11 Replies View RelatedIs anyone here having their Incredible shipped to a FedEx Hold-At center (e.g. FedEx Office Center)? I'm at work all day so I won't be home to sign for the package, and the pick-up center isn't close to my house. But there is a FedEx Hold-At center very close to my work. I could easily pick it up there during the work day. Just curious if anyone else is doing this, or if it's even allowed (due to possible billing address issue)? I called CSR and they said I can't do it, but she didn't sound very confident about that.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI don't know what I have done, but the power button on the top, which I used to be able to press to turn off the screen, no longer works. I can use it to turn on the screen. And I can hold it on to power down, airplane mode, etc. But pressing it once does nothing when the screen is lit up. I have tried wiping all data from the boot menu. This restores the functionality, but when I restore all my data and apps (MyBackupPro) the problem returns.

For those of you who have the phone already....as the title states, will the kickstand hold the phone upright ? Although, it may be a bit risky of it tipping over.
View 8 Replies View RelatedAnyone else having a problem of not having the screen turn on when you press the power button from sleep? It doesn't happen often but it does happen. This is my second Captivate as my last one would shut itself off randomly and that phone also had this problem.Yes, I make sure I pressed the power button and waited a couple seconds to make sure it just wasn't lag but I can guarantee you it is not. Like I said, it doesn't happen all the time but maybe once every 2 days. I'm guessing it's a slight problem with other users as it happened on my last phone but I'm not sure. Hopefully it's a software issue.
