How do I turn off repeat email/text notifications? I only want it to tell me once when something new comes in. Mine alerts every 5 minutes until I clear it. This drives me up the wall when I'm sleeping, driving, playing on the phone, etc...

I am using the stock HTC e-mail program on my Droid Incredible to access my Gmail account. Up until recently, I would get a single notification for each new e-mail message that came in. Now when I get a notification that an e-mail has come in I get a follow-up notification every five minutes or so until I open my e-mail program. This started happening even though I didn't change any settings. I have been unable to find a setting either in HTC's e-mail or in Gmail to undo this. I think, but am not sure, that this started up when I upgraded to 2.3.4.

Whenever I get an email, I get repeat notifications (sound and vibrate) until I clear the message from the notification bar. So if I get an email right after I fall asleep, it keeps vibrating and playing my ringtone every few minutes until I wake up and clear it. It doesn't wake me up or bother me too bad...its just annoying, but my husband on the other hand is about to throw it out of the window....
...and since I FINALLY got a working EVO (hardware ver. 3), I would hate to see this. Anyone know how to fix it?
I just want notifications for text messages. But I don't see any options to turn off the notification for just emails. I looked under sound and notifications but can't find it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have done a battery pull, as well as restarted, and rechecked the boxes for repeat sound notifications for my text messages. The repeat sound is set at every 2 minutes. I do receive the original sound notification, but, I never get the subsequent notices. Verizon is at a loss...gee imagine that...But, at the same time, the Haptic (vibrating touch) randomly unchecks it's box and I lose that function about every 2-3 days also.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen the INC is sleeping I can feel the vibrate or hear the notification sound, however, it won't wake up or let me know that I have something waiting for me just by glancing at it from a distance if it's sleeping. This isn't an issue if I am in a quiet environment, but otherwise it is. I have checked all the settings and there doesn't seem to be a way to make this happen.

After installing the Handcent app, I now get 2 notations for every text message I receive. One from Handcant, and another from the Droid's default text message app. Is there a way to turn off the default text msg app?

First a bit of history Now I've tried Handcent (it doesn't sem to play very well with smart keyboard pro and is far bigger than I need ie just the repeating alert) Chomp is again too big and seems to send multiple texts (at least for me) The closest app I've found is sms pop up but I don't really need the pop up or to replace the initial notification from the phone (just the repeated reminders bit and I can't find a way of having one without the other) Basically all I'm after is an app to use with the default messaging app that will repeat the notification if an sms is not read (not replace the existing ones).

All of a sudden, when I do the same thing, it opens up the G mail In box and I have to click the email itself to open it. Am I delusional and this is how it's always been?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an AT&T Samsung Galaxy SII. I updated to the stock ICS last week, and ever since the update, my text notifications and email notifications will periodically mute themselves. Screen still lights up, notification is still in the notification bar, but no sound.
I've changed the settings to ensure I have them correct several times. I did a master reset as well. Doing a hard reset will fix the issue temporarily, but it always goes back to not working.
I've had this happen to me twice now over the past week. It seems that periodically my notification sounds will stop. I will see that I have new emails but never heard the sound. I will then go send myself a test text message and it will vibrate but make no sound. I've made sure all my volumes are up, and even went in to pick a notification sound and it will work fine in the sound chooser when I pick it.
I also noticed both times that it did this if I go in to Spare Parts or Battery History and look my phone is staying awake and Android Usage is the one with the partial wake lock. Generally I don't have any sleep issues, it only happens when my notification sounds have also quit working. The only way to fix it is power off and back on and then all is good again.
Can u receive emails notifications that pertain to a text message u just recently received? Whether its sms, or mms? Some people would wonder why I would want an email for all my text message. Received but I have my reasons for asking. Has anyone attempted to do this? If so, How?

I have tried different profile applications but it looks like they just generically turn off "notifications" which looks like both email and SMS notifications.
