During the first couple of weeks, back in June, when I received my Incredible I was receiving text messages from the same individual or something whom I don't know. The messages looked like this: 4756://BREW:0108f3d4:GCD. After a while I stopped receiving them. Now tonight I received another one. Does anybody know anything about this or has anyone else received these messages?

I've recently been receiving SMS message from 6245 (I know - it's "MAIL" on the keypad) that says: "//BREW:0X0106DCC7:UPDCHK:MajorVersion:4.0.07.04*END".
Is anyone else receiving this, or know what it is? I received 3 of these today, and about 5 over the last several days. It seems to have happened after installing Trapster. I don't see anything on their forum that gives me any clues.
I've been using Handcent and I have trouble receiving and sending picture messages. When I get a picture is views it as a movie? how can I change it so it is just a picture, as for sending pictures, It's not working at all! Any fixes?

View 15 Replies View RelatedMy sprint HTC hero for some reason will all the sudden stop allowing me to get text messages and mine that I send don't seem to reach the phone I am sending it to. It will stop working out of the blue and start back up. The only reason I know that it stops is because the person I am texting shows me that they never received a message from me and I never got one from them. My phone does not tell me I cant receive or send it just stops and I never know. When it starts working again it does not ever send the messages I didn't receive.

1) My ringer, when someone calls me, starts off quiet for a few seconds then goes to full volume. The ringtone I have doesn't do that by itself, it must be a setting. Is there a way to make it ring full volume as soon as someone calls me?
2) Is there a way to make the phone vibrate when receiving a text message either while the phone is on vibrate or on normal volume.
I set up my Comcast e-mail account on my Droid phone. Several times a day, I receive blank e-mails dated 12/31/1969 (the time sent is always 7:00 p.m.). Plus, there is no name in the "To:" line or in the "Sent by" area. Any ideas on why I keep receiving these e-mails?

My issue is that I am receiving alerts for the same new mail repeatedly. Here's the gist:
11:50 - New mail hits my inbox.
12:00 - I receive a notification of the new email.
12:05 - I check my inbox, but choose not to open the email at this time.
14:00 - I get a notification of a 'new' email, yet on checking it's the one received at 11:50, but still haven't opened.
15:00 - Rinse and repeat. Now, I'm not sure how many times this is happening, or even if it's everytime, but there's something definitely glitchy with mail notifications.Has anybody else noticed similar behaviour? If not I may try removing/adding my accounts back in again.
I seem to in almost all instances not be receiving text messages. This is definitely hit or miss. I've determined it's not service related as it's only happening to me, and it's not location related. It's not related to the services of the people texting me. It's definitely not every single time, but it's a lot. My messages seem to be going out without a problem. After extensive testing I seem to have narrowed down this problem somewhat. There seems to be a problem with the messaging app on my phone. I determined this by downloading Handcent SMS. The moment I did this, I started receiving text messages again consistently and without problem. Uninstalling the program put me int he same place I was before. Can anyone determine what the problem may be with this additional information. Perhaps I have done something ill-advised to my phone so here is as much information about it that I can think of:

I am running a 2.1 rooted phone with (as far as I know) the stock ROM that came with the Incredible (prior to 2.2). I purchased the phone with 2.1 and it did an OTA update to 2.2. However there were so many problems with the update that I decided to go back to 2.1. I did this and rooted which seems to prevent the OTA update even though I don't have a custom ROM. In addition to Rooting, I disabled (using the method of moving the files to a disabled folder)

Aside from this and installing some apps, I haven't done anything that I can think of to the phone that may have caused this problem. There are only a few apps that I've installed that I didn't have before downgrading and rooting my phone.

I do occasionally receive a text message but it seems more "miss" than hit. As far as I know, I was not having this problem before I went to 2.2 (and then downgraded back to 2.1). Since I'm back at 2.1, I don't see how it should be any different from before unless I did something. Seeing as how it doesn't look like anyone else has had this problem after rooting (as far as I've been able to see in the forum). I'm hoping I've missed something. I've tried *228 option 2 (and option 1). Nothing else seems affected, not call quality or email or any data services that I can tell. I'm of course perfectly willing to completely reset my phone but only want to do that if it will actually do some good.
My phone will not vibrate when I receive and SMS text message. I have checked and unchecked the vibrate box multiple times and nothing changes. It is not a big deal unless I have my phone on vibrate mode because I am in a meeting or something. During those times, I have no way of knowing if I received a message outside of pulling out my phone and checking it every few minutes. Anyone else having this problem or have any suggestions?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have uninstalled all my sms messaging apps except for the default HTC messaging app. Every time I receive a text message, I get 2 audio notifications, and there are two icons on the notification bar. When I pull it down, one of the notifications sends me directly to the message, and extinguishes one of the icons. The other icon simply says "you have an unread message", and when I click on it nothing happens, and the icon never goes away (unless you hit clear) on the notification pull down menu.It seems to me like I have two messaging programs installed, but I have gone over the list of apps for an hour and can't seem to find it.If it helps, the icon looks like a postcard, with a vertical line down the middle., black and white.

Here's another - When my phone is asleep (at least I THINK that's what it is), I don't appear to get the notification for an email or a text message. For example, I pressed the button to wake up the phone and all of a sudden I received a text message. The message was time stamped 4:45 but the actual time that I received it was after 5pm.

1. Problems receiving picture messages. Specifically receiving a message saying "Message not downloaded. Retransmission scheduled for XX:XX", even if you click "Download" button multiple times.
2. When receiving a text message longer than 160 characters, you get a message saying "The preceding messages modified. Media objects removed." and the sender gets a message saying that you do not support enhanced messaging service, even though you DO actually receive the entire message. I know the Incredible doesn't have this problem, but the Eris does.
How to be able to select text from a text message? Because I cannot figure it out. I want to be able to select certain things and copy and paste into navigation or another text/email. and long press which I thought would allow me to doesnt.

Used to happen every once in a while, now doing it multiple times a day. I use Handcent but I doubt that is the problem because the messages dont show up in the regular messaging either. It seems like the ringtone and text tones have to be the same volume, and unless I want to crank up the volume on my phone (which makes the ringtone way too loud) I can't hear when I get a text message. I've tried a number of different tones (default phone options and some I've found on Zedge) but none really work for me. I love the one I had on my old LG phone, but can't find anything like it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedLove my Incredible but one glaring issue I'm having I'm hoping to resolve here. At work I am in tons of meetings and conference calls and having a ring tone blast out isn't accepted too well So when I get to work I turn my ringtone volume down to VIBRATE and when I get a call, since I have my phone bare in my pocket, it vibrates and I never miss a call.
But as soon as I change to VIBRATE MODE, all the stuff for NOTIFICATION SOUND under SETTINGS is grayed out. If I go under MESSAGES and SETTINGS, the check box is checked for PLAY NOTIFICATION SOUND and VIBRATE.
I just tested this several times and with the phone in saver mode (screen timed out and is blank), I get ABSOLUTELY NOTHING when I get a text message. No vibrate, buzz, blip or anything. If I call my phone it vibrates for the incoming call fine. BUt for a text message... NOTHING!
Since I *HAVE* to use VIBRATE MODE at work, how can I get the phone to notify me when I get a text message? Kind of important to me as an out of state relative was trying to text me information about my mother's surgery and I was not getting any notification on my phone.
