I want to use wifi while I am at home, but 3g away from home. Will wifi automatically turn off when I am out of range of my router or will it remain on "searching" for networks?

I am having issues connecting to my WiFi at home using the dinc. I had it set up fine but temporarily disabled.WiFi to test something and can't get it working again.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a stock inc and for some reason it won't connect to my home WiFi network. It will connect to other wifi networks. I turned off WEP just to take that variable out of it. No idea what the problem is. I have also hard reset it.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy Hero takes a long time to connect to my home wifi. I usually go in to the settings and hit "Scan" repeatedly before it connects. Sometimes it fails connect, and I have to go into Settings to try again. Is there a way/app to scan automatically or re-attempt to connect again? Maybe there's something I'm not thinking of?

Seven is really pointless for me, it makes finding the right screen take a little longer and there's just not enough good quality widgets that I need to use. I could do better with 5 and possibly just 3.Second is that when I'm not on a homescreen and I hit the home button, I'd like it to go back to the LAST homescreen I was on, not the center one. And if I'm already on a homescreen, once again pull up the homescreen select menu, instead of going to the center homescreen. It's a waste of a button press to always go to that center screen when pressing the home button.

When I rebooted & got to the set up screen(set up google account ect.) the wifi worked! so I hit the toggle,& turned it off to make sure the 3G worked. Ever since then I cannot connect to my home wifi.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have read all I can about using the Inc overseas and am confused. If the phone is switched to WiFi in a WiFi spot, can you use the phone? I have read that Verizon put some sort of restrictions on it, but I'm not savvy enough to understand it all. My daughter is in the Coast Guard and we both have DInc's. She goes to places like Star Bucks in other countries that offers WiFi and we would LOVE to be able to text each other with our phones. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

View 7 Replies View Relatediv just got a replacement hero and i cant get it to connet to my bt home hub, my last one did no problems but when i try with my new one it just comes back as unsuccessful, it does seem to connect to bt openzone tho if that helps.

View 7 Replies View RelatedThere appears to be an issue with my Hero-router WiFi connection. Has anyone had similar experiences or have any advice? My Hero can generally see my home wireless router and report a good signal, though the visibility can drop out (when my other devices are still happily connected). It can also see my neighbors' networks, so it isn't a range issue.
For the most part, the Hero just doesn't seem to want to connect. If I reboot the router it will connect briefly for a couple of secs. I've tried altering a few of the router broadcast settings, trying b-only/ g-only/ b+g, but this hasn't helped (n isn't available, but I understand the Hero to be g anyway). I haven't yet been to another WiFi area, to check if it will connect to other networks. My suspicion is it is a specific compatibility issue with my router (Zoom).
I had been tearing my hair out because my new HTC Desire couldn't see my home WiFi and yet occasionally it would "see" a weak signal from a neighbor's house. My Access point was running WEP so I changed it to WPA-SPK - still no good. So I also set up a second standalone WAP running WEP. Still couldn't see either WAP.
Upgraded to latest ROM firmware. No difference. Long story short, it wasn't the type of security, it was because I was using Channel 13, It suddenly occurred to me that not all countries (I'm in Australia) have Channel 13 available so the phone might not have it either. Changed WAP from 13 to Channel 6 (although any other but 13 would no doubt work) and everything worked.
I would like to know if there are any issues connecting my HTC Desire to my home WiFi using Linksys DD-WRT G? It connects to other networks such as Starbucks and mall WiFi but never at home.
View 8 Replies View RelatedToday, I was connected to my WiFi at home with my Nexus One. I had to reboot my router, and all of a sudden, the Nexus One doesn't connect to my WiFi. When I tell it to, it just says Connection unsuccessful, touch to try again. I tried reboot my phone and router again and also deleting the connection and connecting again, and nothing. It doesn't connect.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I'm away from home without a WiFi connection it seems like nothing works. You Tube, Last FM, eBay and worst of all any of the three different types of Twitter I have. Some of these apps are incredibly slow or others just give up. I've never been able to upload a picture via Twitter using any platform. Really annoying. Seems my Gmail isn't even notifying my anymore.. Have I done something? Is this linked to Orange's notoriously poor set up?
Will rooting my phone help? I'm already running out of space on my phone after downloading what I consider a fairly small number of apps. Why don't they save to, and run off, the SD card?
I've had an LG Optimus S phone for a month, that I run almost exclusively on wifi (I have a pay-as-you-go plan for data, so I've turned 3G off so I only use it when I need it). Often at home the wifi turns off when the phone is sleeping... I'll turn on the phone to check something, but then I have to manually click the wifi back on and wait for it.

It recognizes the network but I can't use send/receive any data. My two laptops have no problem connecting to my network but I can't get my phone to. Additionally, my Wii has the same problem. It recognizes the network but can't do anything. Its probably a router problem but their support was useless, so I thought I would try here.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Belkin N router. The hardware version is F5D8236-4 v2 (01). I for the life of me cannot get my EVO 4G to connect to my router. I normally use WPA2 for my encryption. At the suggestion of another member here I tried WPA, then WEP and then I finally shut off all encryption and just opened my network. Nothing worked. My EVO 4G just simply refuses to connect. As an experiment, I finally tried to connect to a friends 2Wire AT&T wireless router which was WEP encrypted and it worked the first try.

If i then leave the house and return the wi-fi fails to reconnect automatically. This has only happened since i carried out the update and noticed someone else on another thread has exactly the same problem on vodafone eforum. Is there a solution? Currently i need to turn wi-fi off and back on again and it works, not the end of the world but a pain since it used to work so well! I've tried y5 to try and force it, to no avail and carried out a reset (not full factory just remove battery etc).
View 3 Replies View RelatedIf I connect to my home WiFi, it works well. I'll go out of the house and come back a few hours later and the phone does not automatically connect to my home WiFi. If I go to settings, I can see it detects my home WiFi, but says "Connection unsuccessful, select to try again." When I select it, it connects and works fine. My problem is, I don't think I should have to physically select my WiFi network everytime I come home. Shouldn't it see it and connect automatically? What am I dong wrong? Do I have a setting turned on/off that should be different?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've had wifi in my house for years. As I type these devices are connected: ps3, desktop, laptop, wife's iphone. Everything works fine. I walked in the house with my Captivate and it can't obtain an IP address. The password is right. It gets to "Obtaining IP address" but then it says "Unsuccessful." I have never ever had a device issue connecting to my wifi. Numerous family/friend phones have connected without a glitch. Any ideas?

I have a mac address filter on my router and I put in the correct mac address of my Eris more than once as well and the security settings. I was able to connect my Nintendo DSi with no problem. So when I set up my wi-fi connection, it says it's not in range but remembered. At my job I was able to connect to the wi-fi with no problem. Could it be something with my router? Just wondering if anyone has any ideas or clues.

My laptop for instance gets 8-10 mbits or so, but my phone for some reason when I run a speed test, or even browse, I get speeds that are very Ev Do like, 1200ish kbits down, 700 up. I've been connected to wireless routers in other places and get 3500 kbits down and 900ish up, but I'm just curious as to why every other device on my wireless network is fast, yet my Hero is so slow connection wise? Its been this way since day 1, and my router is about 10 feet from my phone at all times, so its not a distance issue.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just got a Moment and I am trying to analyze some issues to make sure everything is okay. The specific one I am asking about here is that on the home screen when I am connected to my home WIFI it does not show any bars. However if I go into the settings and look at the list of networks, my WIFI network will show two or three bars. What doesn't make sense to me is that when I am connected to another WIFI it will show the same on the home screen and within settings.
I have read that if I show WIFI on the homescreen then that means I am using WIFI and not the Sprint Network. Anyway I would greatly appreciate any help to understand what is going on here.
