It wont let me choose contact when starting a new message. Usually when i start to type a contact name it auto finds contacts with those letters. I get nothng now. I uninstalled and re-installed but it happened again.

I've just started using Handcent on my HTC Desire and I was so impressed with it.But I've just seen that when I want to creat a new message, and I start typing the recipients name into the "To:" box, it isn't bringing up any of my contacts.The "messages" program that comes with the phone doesn't have this problem. any ideas?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy problem is this, I downloaded Handcent and really like it, however, I can't send messages from home. I have marginal service here (around -98 avg.) but I do get 3G. Whenever I send a message it says Message Failed - Retry, Cancel? I've even had this problem in places with great coverage for both 3G and cell service. The stock messaging app works just fine. So what I've been doing is receiving messages with Handcent and then sending them using the stock app.
So, does anyone have any ideas of what I can do? Are there any settings that can be changed? Does handcent use 3G to send messages?
I'm now trying Chomp to see if that's any better. And, just an FYI, I'm having trouble with text messages, not MMS. I haven't tried sending any pics or videos yet, I've just been sending SMS.

Is there a "msconfig" of sorts where I can stop them from starting on their own or....?
So I have a good amount of contacts in my phone and never do I have a problem with responding to texts even if the person isn't in my phone book. I have one contact that for whatever reason I can't respond to with Handcent. When she texts me I reply normally and it says there's no contact, so I have to go into the stock program and talk to her thru it. Has anyone else experienced this before? honestly if it was someone I talked to regularly I would have to go back to stock but I rarely talk to this person but when I do it's kind of annoying, and I forget and start using handcent so I always have to cut and paste things.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter one of the recent handcent updates, I entered a number to send a text message. This number was not in my contacts. I entered the number, and it changed the number at the top to a persons name, who isn't in my contacts, and does not have the same number. They are my friend on facebook however. Is handcent linking with facebook? How do I turn this off? It's telling me this conversation is with the wrong person as of now, and I don't know if it's even sending to the right number.

View 5 Replies View RelatedHas anyone else noticed that you can't send a text message to more than 10 people at a time through the stock text messaging app ever since Froyo? This was a major blow to me as I coach a softball team and have to send out a text message to 15 or more people every week. It worked before Froyo but not anymore.
Handcent allows this, so I switched over to it. But now I am getting double notifications when I receive a text message. How do I turn "off" the stock text messaging app?
So when I have my phone on vibrate setting I can feel it when someone calls me. I have Handcent btw if that makes a difference. But when I have the phone on vibrate and I get a text it doesnt vibrate?I have looked and cant find a fix.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI can send picture MMS on my Fascinate but everytime I want to attach a file and choose camera (take the picture right now) it never sends the picture I take, it sends a picture I took about 3 months ago, that is not even on my phone. I can choose attach and then picture to pick one from my phone and it works great, but when I try to attach then choose camera, it just sends one that I sent 3 months ago and I can not change it.

Problem is the picture selection seems to be completely random. Some contact pictures are from gmail, some contact pictures are from fbook and some are from gmail when I first setup the phone and never changed. i am a youth sports coach and i need to be able to setup a direct message shortcut to my contact group. Has anyone been able to do this? i can setup indivdual short cuts but not a shortcut for a contact group. Am i doing something wrong? Also, is there a way to change the label on the direct message shortcut?

In my contacts list when I press the contacts button, I see each contact once. I have it set to only show contacts from my phone. When I go to send a text message and press contacts, my contacts are there multiple times, but I can't see any differences because they are named the same. For example, my son Adam shows up twice in the contact list in text messaging, but only once when I press contacts from my home page.

View 6 Replies View RelatedThis is my first help post so please be kind.I noticed when I imported my contacts from my gmail account, that the phone is giving me the option to send a SMS message to every single number listed not just mobile numbers. Why would i want to send a text message to a land line phone that can't receive them? Is anyone else seeing this? I checked out a friends Eris and she is showing the send message option for mobile numbers only. Is there a setting I'm missing for this? View 9 Replies View RelatedI've downloaded and been using Handcent app for my messages, its a really good app dose everything i wanted out of a message app.How ever there is one thing i cant see to get working, I'm using the HTC desire and every time i resevice a message it shows i have a message on the handcent icon on my home screen that works great. Its when i lock the keypad and unlock the keypad i still get the last message showing up on the lock screen and the notification bar at the top is still displying the message icon even tho i have read the last message. i have been thru the setting and cant find out to turn this off or to use handcent has my default messaging app.

Could someone kindly tell me what I have to do to get the names up please. I have been looking through the settings but cant see anything, do I need to make sure the stock messaging app is unticked first to get the names to appear?
I have been using Handcent for just under a month. I like it very much. I have a question though. Since I no longer use ATK and been observing using System Panel; I notice that both are still running ACTIVE. Handscent has more CPU time then Message. More then half my txts come up as a quick text over the lock screen.Is that pulling from Handcent or Message?
