I've just started using Handcent on my HTC Desire and I was so impressed with it.But I've just seen that when I want to creat a new message, and I start typing the recipients name into the "To:" box, it isn't bringing up any of my contacts.The "messages" program that comes with the phone doesn't have this problem. any ideas?

It wont let me choose contact when starting a new message. Usually when i start to type a contact name it auto finds contacts with those letters. I get nothng now. I uninstalled and re-installed but it happened again.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have several contacts that are linked from multiple sources - for example, I have my wife on FB, twitter, Gmail, etc. Currently the contact photo is pulled from Twitter, but it's an old photo and not updated nearly as much as her FB photo. Is there any way to set it so it defaults to Facebook photo for all contacts, or even a way to just change it for specific contacts of my choosing?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI try to select just a certain part of a message I've received, and it seems the only way to copy anything is with a long press in the text field. Unfortunately the only option for copying is copy message and not selected text. I was able to select certain text and copy only it in the browser, but not in SMS/MMS (sometimes I need to copy an address or query). Does anyone know how to change this so I can copy only selected text (partial message)?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy problem is this, I downloaded Handcent and really like it, however, I can't send messages from home. I have marginal service here (around -98 avg.) but I do get 3G. Whenever I send a message it says Message Failed - Retry, Cancel? I've even had this problem in places with great coverage for both 3G and cell service. The stock messaging app works just fine. So what I've been doing is receiving messages with Handcent and then sending them using the stock app.
So, does anyone have any ideas of what I can do? Are there any settings that can be changed? Does handcent use 3G to send messages?
I'm now trying Chomp to see if that's any better. And, just an FYI, I'm having trouble with text messages, not MMS. I haven't tried sending any pics or videos yet, I've just been sending SMS.
In my contacts list when I press the contacts button, I see each contact once. I have it set to only show contacts from my phone. When I go to send a text message and press contacts, my contacts are there multiple times, but I can't see any differences because they are named the same. For example, my son Adam shows up twice in the contact list in text messaging, but only once when I press contacts from my home page.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've downloaded and been using Handcent app for my messages, its a really good app dose everything i wanted out of a message app.How ever there is one thing i cant see to get working, I'm using the HTC desire and every time i resevice a message it shows i have a message on the handcent icon on my home screen that works great. Its when i lock the keypad and unlock the keypad i still get the last message showing up on the lock screen and the notification bar at the top is still displying the message icon even tho i have read the last message. i have been thru the setting and cant find out to turn this off or to use handcent has my default messaging app.

View 3 Replies View RelatedHTC Hero, 2.1 firmware, Handcent.I had Handcent installed even before the upgrade to 2.1 and when receiving an SMS message, there would be two notification tones. No problem at all on Email just the one notification tone but SMS seems to be the buggy object here.After the 2.1 upgrade, I'm still getting two notifications on SMS messages. And the two notifications thing still occurs WITHOUT Handcent its obviously because I have two different alerts set one for email and a different one for SMS and on receiving an SMS, BOTH tones play.is there a way to set up the notifications so that one tone plays for SMS notifications only, and the other plays for Email notifications only?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been using handcent for almost a year now. 2 weeks ago, right at it, one of my most frequently used contacts for texting disappeared from handcent. The text comes through on board messenger but wont cross over to handcent. Out of 90 or so contacts this is the only contact with that issue. The contact is an AT&T contact, all other AT&T contacts work fine. I've removed the contact, reset the phone with battery removed, made new contact and still the same. It's almost like the number/name is cursed. This "cursed contact" comes through handcent on my wife's phone just fine.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI think this is a Handcent issue because I'm not really seeing it in the default app. For some reason I get multiple numbers for a contact when sending a SMS- the same number! I have one contact that when I select to send an SMS to, I get 7 options to choose to send to, and guess what, all 7 are the same phone number. And its not a format issue, it still duplicates if the number has brackets over the area code or just dashes. Not sure what to do and when I go into the individual contact (using People) the number is only listed once.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI use Handcent SMS on my HTC Hero. I have also recently updated to Android 2.1. Recently I have received a couple of service SMS messages from different companies (bank mini-statements, adverts, etc.) which in itself is okay, but Handcent has been linking them to one of my Facebook contacts!
It only happens when I get a SMS from a non-regular phone number or a short number. Its always the same Facebook contact, but I don't have this person as a regular contact in my phone or Google contacts and their phone number is not on their FB profile!
I checked the stock messaging app to make sure it wasn't anything else and that was fine, so it's definitely a Handcent thing.
Text Message icon and notifications gone after I uninstalled Handcent SMS. I have been unable to find anything online in regards to this issue. Any ideas on how to resolve this? Also be wary of removing this application, FYI.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I have a good amount of contacts in my phone and never do I have a problem with responding to texts even if the person isn't in my phone book. I have one contact that for whatever reason I can't respond to with Handcent. When she texts me I reply normally and it says there's no contact, so I have to go into the stock program and talk to her thru it. Has anyone else experienced this before? honestly if it was someone I talked to regularly I would have to go back to stock but I rarely talk to this person but when I do it's kind of annoying, and I forget and start using handcent so I always have to cut and paste things.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have downloaded the new updated version (complete with adverts)of Handcent to try it out as I hearing such glowing comments on it. When I open the programme I see all the threads but all I have is the mobile numbers and No Contact names associated with them.
Could someone kindly tell me what I have to do to get the names up please. I have been looking through the settings but cant see anything, do I need to make sure the stock messaging app is unticked first to get the names to appear?
I have been using Handcent for just under a month. I like it very much. I have a question though. Since I no longer use ATK and been observing using System Panel; I notice that both are still running ACTIVE. Handscent has more CPU time then Message. More then half my txts come up as a quick text over the lock screen.Is that pulling from Handcent or Message?
View 5 Replies View Relatedhi quys recently installed handcent sms app, prefer it to the stock app. just when i recieve a new message both the stock sms & handcent sms app log the recieved text. i have tried to see if you can remove the stock app from manage apps but dont have the option. am i overlooking something? as its annoying having two alerts all the time! cheers for reading & hope i am making sense!!

I can see the text message, and above that (in the message's header) it shows the first two recipients, then ",....." indicating there are MORE people who have received the message. View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter one of the recent handcent updates, I entered a number to send a text message. This number was not in my contacts. I entered the number, and it changed the number at the top to a persons name, who isn't in my contacts, and does not have the same number. They are my friend on facebook however. Is handcent linking with facebook? How do I turn this off? It's telling me this conversation is with the wrong person as of now, and I don't know if it's even sending to the right number.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've got and Xperica Arc S and recently upgraded to ICS (official update) and everything's great, except for one thing. The contact photos in Handcent SMS are gone. I've been looking at the contacts list and the photos appear in every single contact there, but not in Handcent.
What I've realized is that in Handcent SMS now only appear the photos of the contacts which have a photo on their gmail account, whereas in Gingerbread it would show the photo of every contact that had any photo associated with it (Facebook, custom, another account, etc..)
I would really like to see the photos in Handcent and this is really bugging me!
I've tried searching up the forums and found that some people had this bug and it was fixed by doing the *228 option 2. I tried that and when I use Handcent it still says the message is not delivered and sometimes it just flat out sends a blank message.The text is going to an email not an actual phone number but I'd like to keep handcent because I really like the pop up and the GUI. Would anyone have any other tips or tricks to help me get rid of this annoying error?Well i guess I forgot to mention some things.I updated my phone to 2.1 last night with the "new" leak I guess you call it.I tried restarting my phone, uninstalling and reinstalling handcent.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHas anyone else noticed that you can't send a text message to more than 10 people at a time through the stock text messaging app ever since Froyo? This was a major blow to me as I coach a softball team and have to send out a text message to 15 or more people every week. It worked before Froyo but not anymore.
Handcent allows this, so I switched over to it. But now I am getting double notifications when I receive a text message. How do I turn "off" the stock text messaging app?
I'm using handcent and have disabled the message notifications in the stock messaging application but what i still get is a pop-up message window from the stock app showing the message and i can reply in that app if i wish, however, handcent widget will still show one unread sms message and i would have to go read the message via handcent to get rid of the new sms icon etc.
Of course I could ignore the stock app's pop-up window and close it, go to hancent and read / reply that way but what i want is just visual and audible notifications from hancent. I don't want the stock messaging app to do anything at all. (T-mobile G2 on Version 1.5)
