when you decide who to put in ur faves widget you get to choose how you would like to contact that particular person, i totally forgot how to do it, and cannot find it for the freakin life of me PLEASE HELP! im losin my mind. Ive really tried everything that i can think of im not just being lazy here

I have both gmail and facebook synced to my phone and have chosen to only sync fbook contacts that are already in my gmail. Problem is the picture selection seems to be completely random. Some contact pictures are from gmail, some contact pictures are from fbook and some are from gmail when I first setup the phone and never changed. Is there an easy way to help the phone 'decide' which photo to go with?

However since the Dialog is not itself an Activity I cannot use this method, the best I can do is

It wont let me choose contact when starting a new message. Usually when i start to type a contact name it auto finds contacts with those letters. I get nothng now. I uninstalled and re-installed but it happened again.

when I long press on my homescreen to add a widget (say Pandora's widget) I have to scroll through a TON of crap. 5 different beautiful widget options, 7 calendar pad pro options, 6 contact widget options, 6 folder organizer widget options, etc. Most of those I know I will NEVER EVER use. How can I remove them from my "choose widget". My phone is rooted, and one app I used, pure calendar, gave me the option of which "choose widget" menu options to show. So I know it exists somewhere.

I just downloaded this, and really like the sense-like look, but can't find where and how to choose a different skin for the flip clock and calendar widget? Default is nice, but I'd like to tweak it just a tad, and it says it's skinnable.I just haven't figured out how.well, as usual, as soon as I posted I went back and played with it some more, and it looks like you have to configure it as an app, then install the widget. Correct?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm just wondering what people find to be the quickest way to send texts from the Hero. I've actually noticed that I'm avoiding sending them unless absolutely necessary, because the process just seems so much more drawn out than on any other phone.
At the moment, I'm going via 'people', clicking on the person's name then going to 'SMS' that's already 3 clicks. I guess that's not so bad, but I'm used to doing all this with one button, so it seems like a lot of faff. Is there a better way to do it?
Also, how the heck do you add contacts to your 'favourite people' list? I can't figure this out at all.
Just like to say thanks for all the help people have given me in the past, this forum has been great. My Desire is fantastic, does some odd things now and then but essential it is ok (like once the camera wouldn't work but the camcorder would? then it just started working again, the weather widget pops up quite a bit as does the desktop clock but I can just cancel them so no real big deal). Anyway, what I would like to know is when I pull up my contacts in the phonebook, there is a primary method of contact associated with some of them. I take it that this is automatically assigned the first time I contact that person. Does anyone know how I can change the primary method of contact?

I have tried looking for it under integer "TYPE" (illegal column), and under Strings "LABEL" (illegal column) and "NAME" (this works, but it is the owner/person's name, not the name of the email address). Is there a place where these schemas (as they are actually used) is documented well? the Javadocs seem to mislead me................

As with the iphone, inputting a new phone number within seconds is rather difficult on the Droid. That got me wondering if there were any third party apps or at least a way through the device OS that will let me quickly add a new contact. So far as I can tell the quickest way is to hit Phone--> input # --->option key---> add to contacts ---> Create new contact. That is 6 steps just to take someone's number! There's got to be a better way.

I'm know that the Euro version had the option to change your default contact method for each favorite contact...Did sprint Disable this option on their hero? Anyone else having this problem? Lemme know if you find a way around it!

One might just be me, but I had my droid set the way I wanted it to be before the update, and now I have no clue how to get back to my original settings. So, trying not to sound like a dumbass here.
1. When I turn the phone off and then back on, my messages widgets goes away from the screen I have it on. All that shows up is a little folder that I have NOTHING IN. And it's really starting to bug me, 'cause I love that little widget where I can just cycle through the messages.
Do I have to lock just that screen? It's the only widget affected when the phone goes on and off.
2. None of my contacts got erased; however, I noticed that my one primary is set to text, but when I go to edit the profile, it's set to call. This one I might just leave alone, but none of the ringtones that I have set for them are working. I saw a thread earlier about the People thing, but I'm not sure if I fixed this. And how would I go about changing the primary method of contact (text/call) or is set permanently like that?
I have a time out of 15 min but sometimes I know I won't be around and just want to enable the lockscreen on the spot. Is there a way to do this?

Is there a way of sensing that the widget is or is not visible or is otherwise in foreground? That is, running the code below shows a logcat message at whatever interval the Widget is scheduled to update, whether it's in foreground or not, whether even the screen is dim or otherwise in deep sleep. It would seem onUpdate should only be scheduled to run when the Widget is in the foreground or visible. Is this a defect in the G1, or is there some other API call to detect if the Widget is visible?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI entered a friend into my contact list and added him to my Favorites widget. I want to remove him from my favorites widget now, but not from my contacts list. How do I do this? It keeps deleting the entire contact. I've edited the contact and removed him from Favorites group and I've gone into People, Groups, & removed the contact from Favorites but when I go to my contact list, he doesn't show up anymore. Why?! If I go to the Favorites widget and add a new favorite then the contact shows up again. But if I just open up people and scroll down-no contact showing up!
