What I am looking for is an app that will set the ringer to silent or vibrate based on GPS location. Such as, when I arrive at work, the phone goes silent, when I leave it goes back to normal, when I got to church, system goes silent.
Of course I understand you would have to initialize each of these locations for a set ringer behavior.

Is there an app that will automatically trigger the loudspeaker when the phone isn't next to my head? Then revert to normal once the proximity sensor sees it's at my ear again?

I'd like this to put in my mother-in-law's room. At the moment, I'm using an actual whiteboard, where I maintain the Day and Date, any appointments coming up (she thinks she has one every day; in reality, it's one a month at most). Most importantly, it has the location of my wife (and me) and our phone numbers (m-i-l can drive a "steam" phone, but mobiles/smartphones are beyond her).
There are also answers to key questions, which come up about 40 times a day:
Q: Did you have a dog as a child. A: No, I was allergic to dogs. Q: Was the bombing bad where you lived during WWII? A: No, I was still a sperm/ovum trying to meet, during WWII.
Keeping this up to date is a task that the tablet could do almost by itself, once I'd told it to display the Day and Date, and pertinent facts.
If there's nothing off the shelf, what are appropriate means of tempting a developer to build a bespoke app? I used to be a website author before I retired, and I could almost do this in a day, by setting a browser on the tablet to repeatedly fetch a webpage from the Apache server on my desktop PC ([URL]... but don't get excited; it's the dullest page on the web). However, I'd like the tablet display to be utterly void of any controls, because m-i-l is an inveterate finger-poker. She's probably avoid the buttons on the tablet (they're hard to find in the leather case that holds mine)
If I get all of this working, then I'll need the strangest Galaxy Tab 10.1 accessory: A flashing neon sign, saying "Read this" with an arrow pointing to the display...
When i had my blackberry it had a function that was called "Phone Only". This would disable all ringers except for the phone. It was ideal at night time.
When you guys sleep how do you set your ringer. I want people to still be able to call me but having my phone vibrate all night for texts/emails is so freaking annoying.
Is there a way to program the Inc so only the phone ringer is active?
I am working on an android application, where there are 4 activities. Activity1 is main activity and there are different buttons on that activity which can open other activities. Other 3 activities can also open each other. There is a thread running in Activity1 which returns some counter. I need to show that counter on all activities. At an specific time, the thread doesn't know which activity is at top. What is the right way to control this scenario, such that thread output should update on all activities, no matter which one is at top?

I was thinking Broken Sword, or some of the point and click games? I have a hard time controling fast motion games on the touch screens, and using 8 buttons and two controls stick on a 3.7" screen is tough for me. View 5 Replies View RelatedI have SCOURED this forum - and others - in search of an answer for my problem and have simply not found it. I accidently set up a ringtone to be the default ringer. Which is no big deal, except that now none of my custom ringers work. No matter who calls, it plays the default ringer. I have tried to change the custom ringer to something else (contact, options - and it says the correct name...plays the correct ringer when demo-ed), and change it back to what I wanted originally - didn't work.
Tried changing the default ringer and repeating the above - didn't work. Tried using two different ringer apps from the market - didn't work. I do not use any type of task killer, and don't know the slightest thing about rooting or anything of that nature. I restarted the phone several times. Also took the battery out while still on...didn't work. After all that...still rings the default ringer EVERY time. I'm at a total loss.
This morning when my alarm was supposed to go off, it didn't. I happened to wake up. I could see the alarm icon flashing on the screen. Later I set a new alarm and no sound. I tried dialing my phone and got no ring tone. I checked on the settings and everything was correct. No silent mode, etc. So then i shut the phone down and restarted it. Then everything was working fine. But..the alarm sound not working or phone sound not working is not good. You could not tell its not working until its too late.

I looked all over the settings and theres nothing about ascending ringer checked or anything... this is just buggin' the heck out of me..
View 14 Replies View RelatedA bizarre problem has developed on my Magic (Vodafone, 1.6) whereby the Ringer volume keeps setting itself to the lowest setting. Five times today I've missed a call, and upon pressing volume up, noticed the Ringer Volume was on zero. I set it back to about 50% and locked the phone again. After it had happened about 3 times, I took to repeatedly checking the phone, and it seemed that the volume was remaining where set, until I missed a call again and this is where it gets weird: Every time a call comes in, the ringer volume sets to zero and I miss the call!
How bizarre is that? I have checked the volume repeatedly to find it was ok, then I miss another call and I find the volume on zero again. I have switched the phone off and on several times without the problem going away. I don't have any apps or widgets installed that alter the ringer volume, the only thing I have which is along these lines is "Smart Vibrator". Oh and it doesn't matter how I set the volume, with the buttons on the side of the phone or through the Settings, the problem still occurs. Does anyone have any idea what's going on? Because this is driving me insane and the phone has nearly gone across the room on several occasions!
The Android phones have a setting that allows you to force the notification volume to match the ringer volume, I can't seem to find that setting anywhere in SDK, can someone help me find out how to get and set it that specific setting?

I've already turned it up all of the way in settings but is there an app or something that could make it any louder? I use my phone as an alarm clock and I'm a fairly heavy sleeper so this is almost a make or break feature.
