I want to set my phone to ring only. I don't want any other notifications (text, email, etc.) to make any noise or vibrate. No matter what I do, when I set the Ringer Volume the Notification Volume gets set to the same value.

I noticed that when turning down the volume of the ringer with the volume rocker it doesn't automatically turn down the notification volume as well. Is there a way to set the volume rocker to adjust both notification and ringer volume to the same level? You can test this by going under Settings/Sound and Display/Ringer Volume...and try adjusting the volume with the rocker and it only adjust the Ringer Volume.

View 6 Replies View RelatedAn app or mod that will use the microphone to sense the amount of noise around you and adjust the notifications accordingly - that is to say when its quiet, next to my bed and I am sleeping I want it to be all quiet sounds - but when I am working and there is fan noises and other stuff that is louder then normal I want the notifications to be loud - but if I walk into the break room which is quiet I want it to be quiet again - or if I am listening to music in a room or car turn up the notifications so I can here them and back down when not. You know take a sound reading and turn up or down the volume of the notification that is happening at that given time.
Only problem being when its in your pocket it will always seem to be quieter then normal so they will be quiet also, so there would need to be something to listen to the sound and determine if its being muffled by a pocket or whatever and turn it up then - if playing a sound and analysing that sound it should be able to determine what environment the phone is in, like a pocket or bag that will make it quieter. I am not even sure if i am describing this properly but I know someone can probably figure it out, but it might have to be something the manufacturer does, like that phone that has 2 microphones to auto cancel out background noises like a bluetooth headset.
I have noticed that when I text *3282# to check my data useage, the notification ringer gets switched to low and I have to go in to settings to change it back. Anyone else have this same issue?

There is a little play in them and thats causing the squeaking. I guess BB wont exchange it right? My brothers volume button is nice and firm.

When I've got the earbuds in and media volume set to minimum it's really still a bit on the loud side when I'm at home, rather than in the noisy outdoors. Has anyone seen something that can do this? I expect it's easy as pie with a rooted device, but I haven't bothered with that just yet.
View 1 Replies View RelatedA bizarre problem has developed on my Magic (Vodafone, 1.6) whereby the Ringer volume keeps setting itself to the lowest setting. Five times today I've missed a call, and upon pressing volume up, noticed the Ringer Volume was on zero. I set it back to about 50% and locked the phone again. After it had happened about 3 times, I took to repeatedly checking the phone, and it seemed that the volume was remaining where set, until I missed a call again and this is where it gets weird: Every time a call comes in, the ringer volume sets to zero and I miss the call!
How bizarre is that? I have checked the volume repeatedly to find it was ok, then I miss another call and I find the volume on zero again. I have switched the phone off and on several times without the problem going away. I don't have any apps or widgets installed that alter the ringer volume, the only thing I have which is along these lines is "Smart Vibrator". Oh and it doesn't matter how I set the volume, with the buttons on the side of the phone or through the Settings, the problem still occurs. Does anyone have any idea what's going on? Because this is driving me insane and the phone has nearly gone across the room on several occasions!
If there was any app that would allow me to control volume of various other applications. One thing I really loved about my old Blackberry is I could set up a profile that muted everything except calls. When I go to sleep at night I want to be able to get a phone call in case of an emergency, but don't want to hear my email/twitter etc. Apps going off all night. Is there anything out there for my Moment that can accomplish this same thing?

I keep my phone on vibrate always. well, I try to, but sometimes I hit the volume button on accident and it would be nice to not have to adjust it. Not only do I not want the phone to ring, but I don't want it to not vibrate (all the way down). Also, I still don't always understand when I can adjust other volumes, like Media Volume. Sometimes I start an app or music and the volume is too loud. It seems like sometimes I can't adjust the volume till after it starts playing.

But when I got out of the seminar, and went back to Ringer Volume, it's now grayed out as is Phone ringtone, Phone Vibrate, Notification Sound and all the others below until you get to Emergency Tone and below, where those are back to being bright white. i.e. now when I touch the grayed out Ringer Volume, it does nothing and I'm stuck with vibrate only.

But...I'm finding that this same problem is the affliction of any ROM I install. I'm wondering if it's the software or my phone, because many users report high volumes despite my problem. It doesn't always ring at max volume but maybe 1 out of 3 times. Does anyone else have this problem? I have 2.1 second leak installed.
I reset all my data before installing the leak. Anyway to fix this? Aside from this I have no other problems with 2.1.

Does the Droid have individual volume profiles for the different devices (like bluetooth, speaker, headset, headphone jack)? My old phones would 'remember' the volume level for the different devices used. Its very annoying to have one single volume setting. For example, I usually have the speaker phone volume all the way up, then when I answer a call, the earpiece volume is deafening. Same when I plug in my wired headset at home.

It's so easy to press by accident, and I never want to change the ringer volume anyway!
