HTC Incredible :: Does Have 2 Mic's - One For Noise Cancelling
Apr 20, 2010Does the incredible have the same noise cancelling that the nexus one has?

View 4 RepliesOne thing the Incredible doesn't have that the Nexus One does is the fancy noise cancellation technology. I'm a little surprised at how little this is being mentioned and I'm also puzzled at why this feature was dropped since on paper it sounds like such a good thing. Does anyone have experience with how well it worked? Did it not work out as well as planned, was it a cost saving measure to drop it, or does nobody actually talk directly into their phone anymore?
View 4 Replies View RelatedUnless I can get a conformation that it's in the 2-3 day stage and not the waiting stage I'm just canceling. I've been in the telecom business too long to see a disaster in the making. It's going to take more time for the phones to port numbers and ship than that window would allow.
View 20 Replies View RelatedI missed something, but is there a way I can cancel autosuggestions when typing? Examples:
So this example happened to me frequently before 2.2, but I haven't been able to reproduce it now. I'm trying to search for "wifi" in google, so I type "wifi". The first autosuggestion is "wifi android n router", because that's one of my past searches. "wifi" alone is NOT a suggestion. If I hit enter it'll search for the whole phrase. I don't see any way to get just what I typed to be submitted to the search. I press the little down arrow in the suggestions box, but all that comes up is a bunch of other searches, urls, but nothing that says just "wifi".
Another example, today I was doing one of those captcha things. I type in the nonsense letters in the picture, and Android suggests similar words. This time, the nonsense word was on the list. But if I click it, bam, it adds to my dictionary. If I don't, there's no way to get out of autosuggest -- I tried hiding the keyboard (without hitting enter), but that changed my typing to the first suggestion.
Can I just make it so that my Droid will only vibrate when I get a new e-mail, instead of vibrating AND making my text message noise?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs anyone else's wall charger making a high pitched whistling noise when you have it plugged in? If I put the wall charger itself in the outlet without the usb cable inserted, it sounds fine. As soon as I plug the USB cable into it, it starts making the noise.
View 41 Replies View RelatedI'm experiencing a static/hissing noise on headphones with my incredible. This is particularly noticeable on the small in ear headphones/earbuds during quiet portions of music, or if you have music playing and turn the volume down to zero, and for a short time after pausing music (until the audio jack is powered down. Is anyone else having these issues? Can anyone confirm that some phones do not have this issue?
I love the phone but this is almost a dealbreaker for me as it somewhat kills the whole idea of not needing a separate music player, though it can be somewhat worked around by headphones with online volume controls, decreasing volume by about half and boosting iron the phone.
I recently got a call from a friend of mine, and his voice came through crystal clear, but when I would talk, I would hear this cracking noise in the ear piece. I have pretty good reception where I am, so I don't know what's causing this problem. Anyone else experience this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo i wanted to see if anyone else has the same issue as me. I have my settings so that my keyboard only vibrates (no sound!) for sending texts BUT it makes a clicking noise sometimes when I press the keys. This is really annoying and no. Hard reset does not help. Has anyone else experienced this. my phone is the HTC Incredible.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI am canceling my AT&T contract w/iPhone for one of the Droids and BETTER reception. I'd love to get a Droid X, even if I have to wait. My question is, do they ever offer promotions like the one going on with the Droid right now for buy 1 get 1 free for their new phones? My wife and I are both looking into them but if there is no chance of this we will probably just get the Motorola Droid buy 1 get 1 free deal while it's still there.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI got my Incredible on 4/29, and have loved every minute with it. My only complaint is that when I am actually on the phone, the callers on the other end hear a lot of background noise. The microphone seems to pick up everything. I cannot even talk on the phone if I am in an environment that has any ambient noise because callers are bombarded with the ambient noise. On this note, I was just wondering if there was any way to change the microphone sensitivity and back it off a little bit so that it is usable in environments that contain some ambient noise.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't know how many of you have actually tested the limits of the background cancelling mics on the DX, but I have. I was prompted to test it while speaking to a client while walking my dog the other day.. as a lawn worker passed me with a leaf blower, I apologized to my client for the noise. "His response, with leaf blower right next to me, was, "Noise? You aren't sitting at your desk? I don't hear anything but your voice."
So ok... wow. Now my working from home butt is unleashed from the desk which is ... AWESOME!
So I decided to test the limits... I called my voicemail while standing in a packed bar a couple nights ago. Thumping music, people all around laughing and shouting, crazy scene. The result? At the beginning, before I spoke, you can faintly hear the music... then... nothing but my voice. It's the most amazing thing I've ever heard (or, I guess, not heard).
Anyhow.. I think Motorola should be advertising this! I can see the commercial now... business dude on a golf course while boss calls and doesn't know... man in a bar and wife can't tell (remember the old Capitan Morgan ad?)
I have activity class running infinite loop in BackgroundAsyncTask (see below) I have a problem trying to "finish" this activity, when i press "btnClose" the activity window disappears, but when i try to re-start this activity from "Applications" group i have "null pointer exception" java.lang.RuntimeException: An error occured while executing doInBackground

Where is null pointer exception coming from and how to do it right? line 224 corresponds to inner class BackgroundAsyncTask but what is causing null pointer exception? I tried to check for passed params in doInBackground: "if (params == null) return" - no difference.

I have noticed that while charging my EVO using the stock wall charger and any micro usb cable that there is a loud whining noise. It is pretty loud and can even hear it while watching TV. I have read that the Droid Incredible charger has the same issue as well and have tried to switch the prong orientatoin and still no luck. I have used my other HTC charger that I have from my old Touch Diamond and don't hear any type of noise. I have read that it is the capacitors in the charger making the noise. I have tested and the charger still makes the noise after the green LED light has come on.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have noticed that during playback of video I take with my Motorola droid, I hear a sort of a pop every now and then. The first time I heard it, I thought it was something going on around me when taking the video, but it's not, it appears that the sound is coming from the droid, though I do not hear the pop when recording. There is no rhyme or reason to it. Sometimes you don't hear it at all, sometimes it's every 30 seconds, and a lot of times, I hear the pop right at the end of the video, but sometimes it happens right in the middle.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWas reading a review at AnandTech and it says: On the left are the volume rocker button and a port for the secondary microphone for noise cancellation. You can follow that port inside to a small chamber where the microphone is. There aren't any markers on the volume rocker - then again up and down are pretty obvious. The volume rocker is also a multipurpose zoom control in the browser and camera application, which is probably part of why it's left unmarked. Here is the link if you wanna check it out. View 10 Replies View RelatedI've seen positive reviews on the dual mic noise cancellation of the nexus one. However, what I haven't seen addressed is whether than noise cancellation is bypassed when using a bluetooth headset? It would be cool if the nexus one provided the same noise cancellation when using a bluetooth headset, but I kinda doubt it. Anyone know for sure?
